A New Angel

I'm not sure we can even classify David's projects as "B-List". I mean that Crow movie went straight to video.

I agree, he is more like a C-list actor, he isnt really considered for any roles and so far hasnt been in any big movie hits and the only big thing he has did was Buffy/Angel, everything else was mostly guest appearnces.

But he is working on a new movie that I forgot the name of, but from the behind the scene thing I saw on E! awhile ago he was blonde again.

I would probably watch it... but it just wouldn't be the same.

I would definitely watch it if the character of Angel wasn't involved. It would be iffy to watch if the character of Angel was there being played by a different actor. That would be really weird, and I don't think I would enjoy it.

If you look back at old television series it's usually when roles start getting recast that things start falling apart because the integrity of the series starts to crumble.

What about Dr Who, that role was recats several times and its one of the most popular programs/ film series in history, in fact i think i heard they are even remaking a new doctor who. And we've always known that DB couldn't be angel forever because even if the show had carried on people would hae started complaining when angel started to age when he was supposed to stay the same for eternity, personally i love DB, i think he's just the cutest and most gorgeous person alive but right now i miss the buffyverse so much that i would do anything to see a program about it again, with or without SMG or DB

I would most certainly watch it... anythign Buffyverse... specially by Joss. However, I think that it'd be better if David weren't replaced. If David doesn't want to play, Angel as a character shouldn't be used on the show.

Most of the charaters from Angel say they would come back to the show, except David (its about money dispite what he says). Would you still watch the show/TV movie if David was replaced?

Absolutely not and what an amazing flamefest! I wonder what's eating all of you?

Flamefest? I didn't see anything other than people giving their opinions on the topic of the thread. No flaming whatsoever.

Whilst i still think that it would be best to either get DB back to play the role if possible or not use Angel at all anymore, if there HAD to be an appearance of the character then it wouldn't be so bad if they wrote a reason for the recasting into the storyline. For example, something is done to Angel that alters him physically, or puts him (soul, demon and all) into a new body, like the way Buffy and Faith switched in This Year's Girl.

Slightly contrived but better than just recasting for no good reason.

I could watch it, but I think it would be unlike Joss to replace an actor. If they were going to carry on with the rest of the cast, they'd probably kill off Angel off-camera and rename the show. It worked for the Hogan family after all 😛

I would feel so cheated if they killed him off off-camera. He's much too important a character to do that to. In the Hogan family, the mother was only around for one season, so it didn't hurt nearly as much-Angel was around for eight years! He was the longest running character in the buffyverse. He shouldn't be replaced or killed off off-camera. Not in my opinion, anyway. If they do something without him, they'll have to find some other way to explain his absence.

i would watch, but only to see what it was like.
although, i did that with angel and firefly and got addicted to both, so i guess what i'm trying to say is that i bow at the feet of joss whedon! anything that comes from his mind is pure genius!

No - I don't like it when shows replace cast because it's not the same. Especially when they replace the main cast member - I don't think it would work without David.

Okay. Newbie here, so bear with me. Be gentle.

As much as I would love and ANGEL movie - to show us what happens after they "go to work" in E22 "Not Fade Away" - I would rather it be done properly and I agree with DB when he says that he would only go back to ANGEL if it was "something bigger and better."

Would we really want ANGEL relegated to those crappy made-for-TV movies that we see for other shows when the series ends? ANGEL was like a mini-movie every week, so why go back and do the same thing again? I love the way ANGEL ended - so much better than BUFFY: G22 "Chosen" - and I would hate to see that ruined by cheaply-made TV movies. If you're going to do it, do it right.

Surely if there was enough call for a FIREFLY movie, then an ANGEL/BUFFY movie should garner a lot more interest as the fan base of the Buffyverse must surely be a lot bigger than that of FIREFLY?

Imagine a big screen ANGEL/BUFFY movie. Same actors, all loose ends tied up, Shanshu, army of Slayers led by Buffy and Faith. It would be fantastic.

SmG will no doubt balk at the idea but - maybe a few years down the line when SCOOBY-DOO 4 gets slated - she will re-think her Slayer duties.

Plus... we know that Angel himself survives the events in the Hyperion alley because there is a new graphic novel mini-series coming from Dark Horse called: ANGEL: CURSED, which picks up ATFER the evnts of "Not Fade Away". It's good to know that he does survive, but it would be nice to know HOW... and what happens to the rest of Team Angel. It's a dead cert Illyria survives, but what about Spike and Gunn?

Apparently, Dark Horse will be released more ANGEL graphic novels, some of which we fill in the blanks of what happened to the rest of the gang.

I think it could be good, maybe even better. But I'd feel like there was a hole - I mean, don't take me as a big fan of DB, but he is Angel. It's be kinda strange to have someone else take the role, but I'm up for the change. It'd be neat.

Joss Loyalty.
I'd watch with my hands over my eyes, but I'd watch..
I don't think I'd want to see anyone else play Angel, but my curiosity would make me watch just to see what Joss did with it.

I think I would definately watch it but i'de be a bit dissappointed that David wouldn't want to be in it as he is the main character lol. Think it would be a bit strange watching someone else play the part...
