It seems like I've been at the boards forever, when really, it's only been several months. I was browsing through my posts and threads, and came across my first post ever. Boy, did it bring back memories. To date, I've posted 337 times, and have started 37 threads. I've probably had a new signature each week, changed my avatar a lot, and of course, changed my name from silvephantom to Silve.

I've realised that I've changed a whole lot since I first started here. I remember one of the first posts I made was making fun of Dawn. When one of the members told me it wasn't very nice what I had said, my first reaction was, "OH CRAP! I blew it! No one is ever gonna like me now, "˜cause I said something mean. I didn't mean it! Oh no!" So I took out my dictionary and used as many big words as possible to say sorry for making a mean statement.

Today, I wouldn't have to do that. For one thing, the mean thing I said was immature, and I wouldn't say something like that again. Another, I know that the people here don't care how smart I am, or seem to be, or that I'm only 14 years old. The people here are regular folks too, who make mistakes, and I don't have to impress them to get on their good side. {though it don't hurt!} Through my life, I've been trying to show people that I'm not an inferior child, and that I can carry on a mature conversation without being seen as "too young" or "I wouldn't understand." Also, since my self-esteem level has risen since I first joined, I know I don't have to please anyone to make myself feel better.

I just want to say thank you to all the people on these boards. You are the ones who know me, the real me, since, of course, you don't REALLY know me. If that makes any sense at all. My growing up in these past few months were partially because of the people on these boards, who have shown me I don't have to be "super duper" or "above" anything to be well liked or respected. People like Cordelia, N4H, Ash {Xander}, killerdwarf, and OM2.0 have been sources for wisdom and I respect them very much. You may not have had a lengthy conversation with me before, but in little ways, you've made things easier. Then there are th folks who are just great people, who don't judge, and who I can be myself around, NSlayMode, Calangel {*Maria*}, MentPatient, Josh, and Comma, and of course, everyone else who've been great to talk to. You guys sure have shown me that there are people in the world who don't care about how old you are, how smart you are, or how many big words you know. I really appreciate all of you guys, and I'm glad I know all of you.

OK, to make this thread actually have a purpose, how have y'all changed since your first posts? Who's been a major influence on you? Do you admire anyone?

LOL...I was all shy and timid when I first joined - quite a shock ain't it? 😀 I wasn't nearly as confident as I am now in voicing my opinions and concerns...but maybe that's not such a great thing 😛

As far as influence goes I think that obviously our two wonderful admins have been a great influence as well as Jacklyn who's become an amazing friend to me on and off the boards.

As far as admirations go, I think you all have admirable qualities and that we can all learn atleast a little something from each other. That's why I love coming to this board. It may be called Buffy boards and that's what we may talk about a good majority of the time, but it's also a place where I get the chance to meet some really great people who due to geographic misfortune, I may not have had the chance to know otherwise.

The other major influence on me, although I'm still trying to figure out if it's a good or a bad way is obviously my friendship with the artist formerly known as Slayer,The 😀 Not many people make me crack up as much as he does and with all the stress going on in my life right now, it's a much welcomed relief.

But seriously - you guys all rock and I'm really happy to be a part of these boards.

You still haven't figured out that I'm a bad influence on you. Damn, how dense you are? Now wash my dishes!
Re:

Silve, hun you are awesome. And I think we can all agree that change is constant. And honestly I had a similar experience when I first started logging on! But after taking my foot out of my mouth I began to loosen up a little bit, and I really do enjoy myself when I log on. This place is kinda my sanctum...

There are so many people here on the boards that really make it easy to let my hair down. Silve, berkeled,Cordelia, *Maria*, eset, MentPatient....etc., you're all great. And I think everyone on board shines in their own special way. Cordelia adopted me when I was a lonely newbie and brought a little sunshine to my life..(thanks Cordy). Ash made my first (And fabulous) banner without any quandaries ( Gracias Ash). SpiketheBloody's made several since, and Buffy Summers and Faith have answered so many of my ridiculous questions! Everyone's just made me feel so at home. So, before I break down into an emotional frenzy......everyone, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! :love20:

Hm, I don't know if I've changed really... Hehe, who am I kidding, I've changed a lot. I had only watched BtVS for six months when I came here, and I had never even spoken to another Buffy-fan (except very little and not personal at all at imdb). And I found this place, and felt like I had found my true home, lol. I also realized that all you guys knew So much more about BtVS than i did, I had felt the really special thing about Buffy but I had never understood what it was.. And I came here and found that there were 5000 other people who felt just like me (lol, sounds like sucha cliché but it's actually true). I was very lost when I came here... In my real life.. And it's not that I have "found myself" or talked a lot personal stuff or anything but... BtVS and BB have changed my life, lol. (Heh, I didn't even spend like any time at all on the internet until I found this place and the last four months I've done nothing else).
I know most of you probably don't know me that good, or at all, or even recognise my name (?)... I know I don't have lots to contribute with and that I'm not the smartest person or anything but.. still, um. I've found at least two or three people here who I consider friends and.. well, I like most of you guys a lot, you're really cool and fun to have discussions with.. hehe.

I joined December 28th 2003, JUST under a year ago. I was "friends-boards" vetran at the time with nearly 10,000 posts but I was getting bored of it and wanted to venture out into my other fandoms! So I stumbled across BB and it was like a completely differnt forum to anyother I've EVER been to! I was blown away! When I first joined I was a little reluctant on becoming active as this place was huge but all the wonderfull members made me feel at home and before I new it I had friends here and couldn't get enough of the place! I never thought I would get a chance to be a mod here. And I'm so grateful. BB has definatly uplifted my online confidence!

I joint 15th July 2003 (Seems like ages ago) and heres my wee little joining thread; https://www.buffy-boards.com/showthread.php?t=6145

I looked around for a Buffy Board and this was the biggest I found (since I have found bigger but this is a nice place) and didn't really talk to a lot of people, I found them all nice and all but as Angel put it, im a shadowy taciturn guy. Anyway I think Magui was the first person I spoke to (and didn't that end well) and since have a small but nice selection of people on MSN. Some I talk to too much and im sure I bug them (Lee and Dee) and then other people who are just cool, such as Faith, Buffy Summers, EDB, Annie and others.

Since the start I've become...well a style manager or whatever the title is (Mr Memory I am 😉) and feel closer to people. The time I felt like I knew people liked me is when they started a Happy Birthday thread. I was like "ahhh". Oh and I have 3,646 posts (including this one)

silve...you were just being honest when you criticized dawn...don't apologize for being honest...that's in rare supply these days...

You the man Faldor! you're there when I need you. I couldn't let you leave. ;)
LOL-Me, Buffy Summers, Faith, and Cordelia were just talking about this the other day. When I first started here, I was the ULTIMATE spammer! Believe it or not...I really did not take this whole web forum thing seriously at all! I remember getting all mad at Faith (who I now SO TOTALLY love) for moving around my threads and deleting my posts. That was about two years ago.

I think it was nerd4hire and the arguments we used to have that started me into becoming a serious poster. Then, as I made friends like Old Master 2.0, and Rayne, and Soulgasm, I began to be the voice of reason here!

After some time here, I find myself with many friends here on the boards, the closest of which being Cordelia, OM 2.0, Buffy Summers, and Faith but not the least of which. There are many people here who I just absolutely love and I wouldn't trade my time here for anything! I am glad I lost the ability to spam...

It's what made me get offered the Mod position! LOL

Well, I don't have near the slayage (posts) as a lot of the folks in the threads above. I think I was a member here for at least 3 months before I posted anything other than my welcome thread. Intimidated doesn't even begin to cover what I felt. I figured I'd be about 20 yrs older than the oldest member here (uhh, well, I wasn't very far wrong there, now was I?). I posted a couple of things in "Inside Out" and got talking to n4h and Mr. Pointy. Their humour and intelligence drew me to more conversations and other people. Intelligence and humour seem to be the hallmarks of this board. I've seen posts that have made me both laugh out loud, and then think about what was said for hours afterward. I've also seen threads that have both wrung my heart because of the suffering some people have endured, and lifted my spirits at the same time because of the way these extaordinary people have risen above their circumstances to become exemplary citizens and fine human beings. Some have come, some have gone, and some have come back again. All have made a mark here in some way. Some agree with me, others don't, but that doesn't matter, it's the communication that matters, and the way we conduct it: civilly, respectfully, Buffily (is that a word? It should be!). I could go into a long list of people I've grown to know and respect here, but I'd be leaving someone out for sure, and I don't want to do that (just between us, I hate being left out!). I would like to give a nod to the administration of the boards: ladies, in a 'net full of many things, lots of it bad, you've crafted a place where all posters, regardless of any differences anyone could imagine, can come and state an opinion, debate a fact, float a theory or even tell a joke without risking rancor and ridicule. Thank you. And thank you to all the rest of you. You all keep me coming back. And no matter what you say....I AIN'T LEAVING! Except for holidays...and lunch.

Take good care, everyone, and if I forget to do it later, the Merriest of Christmases to all of you (and to all who don't celebrate, may the peace of the season come to your life!)

That brought a tear to my eye. Thank you kd - you know I love you. ;)
When I first joined this form I stalked it for like a month. I would log in read a bunch of posts and leave without posting anything. I was realy intimidated by the tight friendships. But eventually i realized if i wanted any board friends i need to speak up so I did and look at me now. Heh.

Are you who I think you are? If you are the one and only them its good to see you again 🙂

Well, I don't know where to start. I joined in september 2003 and I was so intimidated by the people here - they were so close to each other. I posted once or twice but only if I thought I had anything good enough to contribute. After making some aquaintances through posting I found that there was much more here than just a fan-board. I found intelligence, compassion, grace and humour. The best thing I could have wished for was to make 1 friend - and I've made a ton of them. When I see some of the strength among you all - it helps me to get through my struggles.

The admins on this board (you know who you are) should be very proud to have made such a safe haven for people.

I'd like to give a special shout out to a certain few special friends who have helped and continue to help me through my troubles. (y'all know who you are - will not name names as I don't want to leave anyone out.) 😉
