Abbreviations and kewl talk reminder

I was just wondering about this. I always use AtS and BtVS because writing the whole title is just draining (pure laziness). Or when referring to episodes OMWF, IWRY...IOHEFY (lol). Took me ages to finally get what IR,YJ was. On the opposite side, it took me years to understand what Rm w/a Vu meant. I seriously thought they were just jumbled letters for the longest time. I can see how that would get very confusing.

The show name abbreviations I understand, it's some of the episode ones. I'm like, "okay, not reading that post because I dunno what the hell they're talking about!".

I'm the opposite with Rm w/a vu. I've always understood it and really liked it as an episode title. Just need to say it out loud as it sounds. 😀

Amen! I sit there running through episode titles in my head trying to figure out what people are saying. NKABOTFD I spent like a good minute thinking, "New Kids on the Block?"

I really wanted to add that in lol - at least the first time you mention it, write it out! lol

New Kids on the Block! LOL, haha! But yes, even just saying the first part of the title would make sense, eg "Never Kill a Boy.."

I'm definitely guilty of using Btvs and Ats.


edit: Ah, yes the episode ones can give me a headache.

Yeah, me too. I think everyone understands those two though. The abbreviated episode titles are another story. Those lose me.

I have run into UST in three posts in the last few days and I need a translator. Maybe we should have a thread where we post all the usual acronyms we use.

The other one I think confuses some of the newbs is the use of elided names like Bangel, Spuffy, Jandy etc. Perhaps a thread for those with a directive for new members that says READ ME FIRST.

Room with a view. It took me YEARS to figure it out! I always called it R-M-W-A-V-U
Rm w/ a vu I understand, it's all the other episode abbreviations (other than OMWF) that I don't follow.

UST. OTP. ISC! (I'm so confused!)
 
Hahahaha! I fell for ISC too. See? All these abbreviations are head-spinning.

I think we should have a list of all the ship names . Both so new members know what we talking about & know what names to use them selves 😀
 
It's funny how when Spike was banned the entire thread spoke of Spike... and in the thread admonishing TXT talk, that's all thats going on. It seems like it would be NAGIIYKWIM
