As many of you Spuffies know, I had occasion to spend the month of December in a closer than usual association with our poor less fortunate brothers and sisters in the Bangel camp. What I saw there could only be called eye opening. My friends and fellow Spuffies, despite what we have assumed and been led to believe in the past, Bangels are very much like us, with the same love and enthusiasm for the Bu for theffyverse and its inhabitants as we have. They are friendly, outgoing, dedicated fans and good friends. There is not a single one among them who I would not trust to cover my back in a dire situation. They are not monsters, and not the dregs of the Buffy society. They simply been misled, dragged into the darkness and disillusionment that is symptomatic of the Bangelist philosophy, many for no better reason than simple peer pressure. They need us.
They need us to lead them into the light and joy that is Spuffy. They need to be pulled out of their self imposed brooding chambers. Brought in from where they have been lurking in the darkness of dispair and disillusionment for so long. They are our friends, and they are in desperate need of our help and support, even though they don't even realize it yet.
This has weighed heavy on my heart for the last week, and I think that I have come up with a solution: Adopt A Bangel. If each Spuffy simply picks a Bangel 'shipper and honestly takes the time to talk to them, encourage them, support them, even lead them, to be in effect, their mentor/sponsor, we can rescue them from the clutches of Bangel hell. It won't be an easy task. It might even seem to be a futile gesture at times, and we may even be rejected and scorned by the very people who we are trying to help. It won't be an easy task, or a short one, but if we persevere, we will have the satisfaction of knowing that, in the end, our efforts will bear fruit.
Adopt A Bangel is a simple plan. Pick some poor disillusioned Bangel to be your personal project. You don't have to reveal their names, in fact, it would probably be best to keep their identity confidential, at least in the early stages of their development, since Bangel peer pressure can be fierce. Just be there for them, answer their questions truthfully (they've been lied to for too long as it is) and let them know that they matter to you. That you genuinely care about them. Remember...FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS SHIP BANGEL. It's a monumental task, but we CAN do it. Now, let's go out there and Adopt A Bangel. They'll thank you for it in the end.

Funny. I, who am no ardent 'shipper, suddenly feel a little flame burning. And no, it's not egging me on to root for *your* team.
