Like they said when they ressurected Buffy in the first place... There were consequences... and unfortunately, the First just happened to be one...
Consequences are the problems of doing an action. People who cause the consequeneces are to blame. Why do you contradict yourself?

Ok, so following this theory, Giles is responsible for all the deaths caused by Eyghon (since he summoned it years ago) and Buffy is responsible for all the deaths caused by Angelus (since she slept with him and didn't kill him in 'Innocence'). Right?

Not buying it. ::thumb::

See Buffy cannot be responsible for Angelus because there was no way for her to know about the consequences of her actions. Had she known sleeping with him would make Angel lose his soul, then she'd be to blame.

Same thing goes for Xander in Bargaining. He's not very magickally educated and wouldn't know better, although Anya, Tara and especially Willow should have known as they were more inclined in the black arts.

And I believe Giles was atleast partly responsible for his actions in summoning Eyghon, although at the time of the original summoning, he was probably young and very much naive at the possible future consequences.

Suppose 2 people have a child. They're responsible for it, right?

Suppose that child has some sort of hereditary illness like hemophillia. Are they still responsible? They were aware of the possibility. Suppose the child dies through no immediate cause that can be attributed directly to them. The hereditary disease just kills the child on it's own schedule. Should the parents be charged for murder?

Did the child get the disease because the parents were closely related? 😀

Obviously you wouldn't charge the parents with murder.

Let's say it's Prince Harry.

So is it just as obvious that the Scoobs can't be held responsible for the deaths that occur in Season 7?

I don't think it's just as obvious. Or, to me it is.. But I don't really think you can compare it to the parents-child-dead-thing. I have a really hard time with these things, comparing these things.. I tend to get confused when people try to explain why it's the same, because it (almost) never is. And there are different "rules" about everything, just like every time there is a different situation.
To me, you can't blame people for what they didn't really do, and didn't want anyone else to do, and didn't know anyone else could do because of what they did. But, like I said, it's different in every situation, but in the "Tara, Willow, Xander and Anya are killed all people The First killed"-situation.. I'd stick to the "theory" I mentioned above.

Well the purpose of an analogy is to try to make the complex simple. Not working eh? Not a problem. I can just make my point, I guess.

What I'm trying to say is there's a point down the line of cause and effect where trying to hold someone accountable for something that may have indirectly been initiated by them isn't reasonable. Actually it's just plain silly.

If you're still unclear, I can make it simpler than that. I'm just saying I agree with you. 🙂

I agree that they are to blame for bring forth the First... Theres no doubt about that... But, they shouldn't be held responsible for his actions... What you're trying to convey is like saying that any serial killer's parents should have to pay for all the people that were killed. That's rediculous.

Hehe, the problem isn't really that it's not clear to me. The problem is that I think comparing totally different things almost never work. To me it's a way to convince people, and to confuse them.. Getting them to agree with you by making it more simple than it is. I agree with what you're saying and I understand the point you're trying to make, I just think it doesn't make it simpler by making it simpler.. You know..? 😀

Epo, you are the hardest person to agree with, I ever met. 😀 (you're clear I mean that affectionately, right?)

I'll try it again though. I agree with Epo. Trying to blame the Scoobs for the evil done by the First in Season 7 doesn't seem reasonable.

Hahaha, I know, sorry about that 😀 I know you agree with me. And I agree with you (can't even give you rep 'cause I agree with you so much). I get it, I promise 🙂

Thanks for that Spike My Darlin. That's what makes things interesting.

You're welcome nerd4hire. Usually I am told that my disagreeing makes things unpleasant.

Nah, at discussion boards disagreeing people are usually very welcomed :)
confused here

ok so the topic is how people feel about tara coming back, and we are debating if willow and co should have been punished for bringing buffy back.

am i the only one who would have found the twist of willow/tara and kennedy in a spin-off interesting. what happens if buffy bought tara back while kennedy is there, with her fancy new slayer powers, how would the situation be handled and the fans pushing for there fav be it tara or kennedy to win in the end.

and imagine the twist if neither made it and there was another woman that steps in and takes her heart. i mean there are so many angles that i am curious about.

Am I alone in this curiousity?????

Yeah I guess we went a little OT 🙂

I have always thought that if Tara came back, Willow would choose her. Or, I think Willow would break up with Kennedy but.. I don't know. I know I believe she loved Tara more, and that she'd rather be with Tara.. But, does it work that way..? Would she break up with Kennedy and be with Tara at once..? Because I don't know if it's that simple...

It is never that simple, on T.V. I can't even count the number of times a girl is in love with someone and the guy is in love with her but when one is free the other is attached. They never hook up when the other is attached they always wait until the other breaks up without forcing the breakup. IF Tara had come back and Willow did leave Kennedy for Tara she would be nothing more than a skanky harlot.

How the hell does going back to your true love and soulmate make you a 'skanky harlot'? :wtf:

Of course, if Tara had come back, the issue of Kennedy would have been a moot point. While the character might have been around, the relationship with Willow would not have been. That was created by Joss Whedon because Amber Benson declined to come back in the seventh season.
