Am I the only one who loves angel flaws in all?

I think most people who like Angel do so in part because of his flaws rather than despite them.

Even on his own show Angel is still learning how to live in the real world, to interact with people and form close bonds. So he makes mistakes, but he normally means well and has that need to help others

And it is the whole package of the flawed hero. The flaws make them more interesting and there is still the inner moral code or desire for redemption and the struggle to do the right thing.

When it comes too easy most characters become a bit bland. Ive never understood why some people want their favourite characters to be perfect and will blindly defend them over everything. Just because you occasionally criticize a character doesn’t mean you like them any less

I think Angel is a great character, especially when he got his own series i never understood the hatred or the fact that I've had people tell me he is a boring character which I think is highly inaccurate.

In his purest form he is just brilliant classic tragic storytelling. The vampire cursed with the soul who’s in love with the vampire slayer-it’s just beautiful. It’s so good they ruined it by doing it twice 😂

I asked because I haven’t really joined the fandom I grew up with the shows but never interacted until now. I noticed everyone seems to hate angel and shocks me because I thought he was popular hence why he got a spin off. I loved angel since I was a kid and I could never see myself hating him. I relate to him a lot so there’s that.

I was very disappointed when he got his own show bc he and Buffy had the perfect story. Angel seasons 1 and 5 are the best. To bad they ended the show on a cliff hanger.

He has his fairly amount of haters. I take this as a good things because it means he is popular. When I think about it, a good character for me is a character that divises people, that creates debates. If you are not interesting no one is going to care about you. On the contrary, if people hate on you, talk about you, it means you have attracted their attention and of course they can love you or hate you, theirs choices, but inspiring such strong feelings to people definitely means you are an interesting and complex character.
