American Idol 6 - Who's Watching?

Lol! Anyway, me and my family are obsessed with it. We watch every year. I can't believe Baylie went bye-bye! She so didn't deserve it. Anyway, I really enjoyed it tonite. I can't wait until the actual show show starts!

And to start discussion, do you have a favorite yet?

I read that Baylie's got a CD out.
I'm on the fence with Baylie. She was talented, you can't deny that. But was she the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood? I don't think so. I do think she was cut a little too early though.

My favorite this season is Gina Glocksin. I LOVE her. She was a contestant last year and she was cut during the round where they get seperated into rooms. I was so mad, but now I'm happy because she's back and doing better. Rumors are that she made the top 24, and if that's true she's got my vote.

I also like the Antonnella girl, but only because she's from Point Pleasant, and that's right by my home town. lol

I dunno, but I'm just not feelin' anybody from this current crop of contestants, unlike last year when Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks just leaped out at ya from the auditions and became the ones you wanted to follow.

I do kinda like that big dude from Birmingham with the severe chin goatee. I forget his name...I think his last name is Head.
(Not a good Hollywood Week showing from him, though.)

I guess I hit the enter button on accident or something, it cut off your reputation thing. Anyway, The only reason I'm feeling Gina is because I've heard her before and know she's awesome, though she's not shining as bright as she usually does this year. Sometimes the show liked to hide people from us. During season 4 you didn't see Bo until the end of Hollywood week and he ended up coming in second place. Maybe someone will surprise us this season.
 
Do people actually watch this for the contestants? Aren't the moments where Simon Cowell acts like a jackass the actual highlights? (This is the show he's on right?)

It's weird though. Carrie Underwood, the winner from season 4, messed up the first round in Hollywood really bad. She forgot her words half way though the song. She was given a second chance. Baylie was pretty talented, so why wasn't she given a second chance?
 
It makes better TV when they can make Simon look even meaner than they already make him look...see, it got you caught...like that was hard, eh?😉 You were watching no matter what! No vibes yet on who's gonna make it...gotta wait some more, see 'em under pressure...
 
Last year I rooted for Chris to win from the beginning. Taylor Hicks can go suck one, I hate him. Him and the whole "Soul Patrol" thing was cheesy, lame, and I think he'll fade out in a few years like Fantasia and Rueben, I mean no one even talks about them anymore. Because they did not deserve to win.

As you can tell I'm not a Taylor fan.

I did love Kellie Pickler though, she was really really really really cute. But I haven't heard her music.

Anyway, I kinda stopped watching this year after the auditions, which are THE best part. After that it gets a little dull until the last few weeks. And this year had some FANTASTIC *terrible* auditions, so many in fact that I'm keeping all of those episodes on my hard drive.

i met the ian guy from the nj episode (it was in jersey, not new york!). he was asking ppl to "kiss the hand of a star" IE: his hand. uuuhhh... ::shivers::
That's another thing. Chris Vs Taylor. Taylors sales are about 620,000. Chris's sales are 1,650,000. So if Chris has that many more fans how did Taylor win?
 
I think that the average person watching at home thought Chris was going to win, no question, and he didn't need one more vote. I hate Taylor too. He only won because of his Soul Patrol thing, so annoying! I'm rooting for Chris Sligh, great voice and nice personality. He appears to be an early fan favorite.

Well I don't know about Rueben, but as far as Fantasia goes...

Since her win, she's put out two albums and received FOUR Grammy nominations, all in 2006, a feat currently unsurpassed by all American Idol alum. She received three Billboard Awards for her single,"I Believe." She also wrote her autobiography, and then starred in the film version of it.

E! Online reports that Fantasia Barrino may be the latest "American Idol" veteran to find work on Broadway.

Barrino may be joining the cast of The Color Purple in the spring. She would play Celie, the role originated by Tony Award-winner LaChanze and now played by Jeannette Bayardelle.

A four-time Grammy Award-nominee, Barrino won the third season of "American Idol." She is believed to have been a frontrunner for the role of Effie in the Dreamgirls film (the part ultimately went to fellow "American Idol" star Jennifer Hudson"). "Fantasia" is the 22 year-old's debut album.

I think the problem you're having is when you say, "no one even talks about them anymore", you mean no-one you know. Her last album was R&B. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that's not you favorite genre of music.

And God please don't quote $ signs at me. Pop idols with # 1 songs come and go. To stick around requires talent, something evidenced in Barrino by the fact she considered for stuff like lead roles in Broadway hits, or major Oscar contending motion pictures when her fellow Idol winners never would be.
 
Fantasia has faded a little bit, but that's becasue of the publicity and hype about her. Her first album sold 2.1 million. The one she just released a few months ago is roughly at 285,000, and is falling off the charts fast. I still wish her luck. "Hoodboy" should have made radio by now.
 
I usually don't give Fantasia that many props, but does anyone agree that she mopped the floor with this years Top 24 on Thursday when she guest performed?

Also, who's up to date on the Antonella Barbar pictures scandal? I'm going to put it in spoilers because it's kind of inappropriet to read.
first there were pictures of her peeing, then sun bathing topless, then seminude pictures, and now pictures of her giving oral sex.
. I'm all excited because someone from my home town is in the Top 24 and then she pulls this. She's not going to be asked to leave as of now. NIgel (the head person on the show) said that since she didn't do it for money (like Becky and Frenchie did) she won't be asked to leave the show...yet.

Yeah I was surprised with Fantasia. I was against her in S3 but I think her voice has gotten better.
