Harmony is a lot LESS dim-wit than Drusilla. She is also much more tolerant to Spike's temper. In retrospect, Drusilla never really loved Spike, but Harmony did. In the Fanged Four, Drusilla was bullied by Angelus and Darla and protected by Spike, and I don't think Drusilla can make it very long doing solo, so Spike's her only choice, but loyalty? I highly doubt so. In contrast, Harmony forgave Spike many times and still had feelings for him years after they broke up.

Harmony is also better for him than Buffy. Buffy's offer of protection and shelter was a hollow one. From S4 to S6, Buffy barely could protect her friends well, let alone another burden. Harmony had managed to pull off a gang of five without using any violence and survived Buffy many times. Too bad Spike was too blind to see it.

Souled/Pre-W&H
There's little information about how Harmony got back to LA and hired by W&H, but I don't think she was doing well. Her leadership potential was oppressed by the destruction of confidence, from Spike's dismissal (which also directly caused the rebelling of her gang).

Had they been able to hook together, the souled Spike won't be as an asshole to her as before, therefore Harmony would have got her achievements several years earlier. The true-blood vamps will be born sooner, thousands of people will be saved.

Buffy and Spike didn't really need each other in S7 anyway.

Drusilla should have been mercifully killed long before S7. Her mere existence is a torture to her, according to Angelus.

Souled/W&H
If Spike/Harmony becomes true, Harmony won't betray Angel. Inconsequential? Then how about Spike being a lot less broody and gullible, seeing through Lindsey/Knox/Senior Partner's plans, standing out to prevent Angel's suicidal "plan"?

"It's just you think they are perfect, what about their own opinions" you say?
Judging from the screen, Spike/Harmony sex was the most regular, most often, and most healthy one among the three. Enough said.

He was a complete you know what to her. It's one of the things I absolutely hate about him.

I think overall Harmony isn't smart enough to be in a long term relationship with Spike. It just wasn't going to work, he needs more of a mental challenge than she could ever provide.

That being said, I LOVE Harmony. She was by far the prettiest of his girls and it's too bad the character was so dim witted because there are so many things I do like about the two of them together, except he was was abusive to her. More so than any shenanigans that went on with Buffy.

Harm couldn't defend herself on any level against Spike, he's stronger, smarter, and meaner than she could ever hope to be.

I like her and wish she had been on the shows in a more substantial capacity than she was.

Spike and harmony were a beautiful couple. I loved harmony on BtVS and AtS. But she was the rebound girl. Harmony was to spike as Riley was to Buffy. Spike needed a stronger, smarter girl for the long haul.

When people feel sorry for Spike in S5-6 and about how Buffy abuses him I just remember Sparmony and how Spike did it all to her...and then how I didn't really feel sorry for Harmony for being so spineless.
I'm glad she left and stayed away from a clearly toxic relationship.
Harmony doesn't get enough credit for that- leaving an unequal relationship and going on your own instead of allowing yourself to be used over and over.

Funny how Harmony's kind of a role-model that way, at least in comparison.

Vamps don't usually understand what gratitude is. In the same spirit we can guess they also don't usually understand what "anger about being abused" is.

Maybe it's a turn-on for Harmony, just like the fact that physical pain is a turn-on for Spike.

Could be. Demons aren't humans, that's for sure.
I don't think Harmony left so much as was sent away and finally gave up. I think she viewed Spike as her boyfriend but I don't think Spike ever led her on. He was very open in his contempt for her. And yes, souless vampires have different standards so she was okay with his treatment. I think she and Dru both realized at the same time Spike was lost to the slayer and left to build new lives knowing Spike was in love with another.

In 'Crush' Harmony dumps Spike and walks away from the relationship/town forever. For all their sins both Harmony and Dru loved Spike and had taken him back in despite his betraying them in the past.

And yes Spike never led Harmony on, but nor did Buffy to Spike in S6- it was 'I will use you to when I want to' and yet people rarely level the same level of critisicm at Spike as they do at Buffy.

She walked away after he'd been trying to get rid of her repeatedly. Does that still count as walking away? It should have been clear to her after he staked her while wearing the Gem of Amara.

Then Harmony was with Spike in his crypt for the first half of S5, so they were 'going steady' in vampire terms.
They were still having sex in that very episode 'Crush' so yeah, he was still using her even though he was obsessing about Buffy.

And Harmony finally said 'enough' and walked away never to see him again until over 2 years later. I'd call that an effort on her part to move on.

and she even resisted his charms for about 5 minutes in Ats S5...she needs to keep going to her codependent anonymous meetings...sigh

Harm gets props for me. She turned her life around. Went to the big city, went for a job at a big firm and did her best to make a go of it.

It took her awhile but she didn't let all the beat down she got from Spike to keep her down.

From what we are told, Buffy was once a Cordy/Harm type of gal. People can learn and grow, hope vamps can too. Wish she would have told Spike what was what earlier on and gotten the heck outta Sunnydale.

He came to her for help after he escaped the Initiative. And he lived with her and was having sex with her in S5 until she left. No matter what his feelings for Buffy were he hadn't made too serious an effort to get Harm out of his life.

He was willing to make use of her cold comfort when it suited him, so yeah, when she left I consider it walking away. I don't think we have any reason to believe he wouldn't have kept shagging Harm had she stayed around.

To an extent it's just what vampires do, but...they often act out of demon in the Buffyverse, if Spike had enough feeling to love Buffy, he had enough to not keep giving in to Harmony's charms such as they were.

His treatment of Harm is something I find impossible to forgive.
