Andy Hallett dies

I didn't know he was sick. I knew he was ill a couple of years ago and I just assumed he was better. 🙁

OMG! No! I can't believe it! He was such a great actor! Andy seriously helped bringing Angel's level up a nodge. He made the show a little better... I will seriously mourn this.

Just been on the forum part of the site posted. POsted my regards and well might as well repeat here, stunned, first Glenn now Andy.

I just couldn't believe it when I heard the news on my MySpace. It's just so terrible, he was such a great actor and I had never heard a fan that had met him that didn't comment on what a nice person he was. He will truly be missed.

I just read about his passing here:
News from WENN

I was completely stunned. I had no idea he had such grave problems. To die at 33 from heart maladies is shocking in extreme.

He was a hilarious breath of fresh air on a programme that was uniformly morose. Without Lorne Angel would not have been quite as entertaining.

With one departing, it's wonderful to note that Alyson and Alexis have a new baby now.

wow. i just found this out right now. im a little behind. but man i am tearing up. this is so sad. we will miss you Andy.

I didn't really know him other than being Lorne in Angel, in which he was truly amazing and showed a lot of talent. I'm sure he will be sadly missed.

R.I.P Andy Hallett : prey:

Oh my God, I'm so moved right now... I've never even seen him talking in an interview, or anything, just being Lorne with great talent on "Angel". I'm so shocked, it's very sad, really, I don't know what to say, my thoughts go to his family and friends.

Saying Goodbye to Lorne

Andy Hallett, a singer who gained fame portraying a green-skinned demon on the dark vampire series "Angel," has died at the age of 33, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office said this morning.

A Sunday telephone call to 911 had Hallett complaining of shortness of breath, spokesman Ed Winter said. The actor was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m.

An autopsy is pending. The death was first reported by E!Online.

Hallett was born in the village of Osterville, Mass., part of the town of Barnstable, on Cape Cod. He attended Barnstable High School and then Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., according to his biography on IMDB.

Hallett told the Cleveland Plain Dealer in a 2003 interview that he loved singing while growing up on Cape Cod, but his friends threw cold water on his efforts. Then, Patti LaBelle invited him onstage to sing "Lady Marmalade" with her. When he received applause and requests for photographs, he realized, "It was really a life-changing experience."

Hallett traveled up the iconic Hollywood ladder to success, moving to Los Angeles where he worked as a runner for an agency, property manager then personal assistant.

He was singing in a Universal City blues revue where he met Joss Whedon, creator of the universe that included "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its spinoff, "Angel."

Hallet told the Plain Dealer that Whedon became a friend and they liked to visit a "dirty, old scandalous" karaoke bar in Hollywood together.

It was Whedon who asked Hallett to audition for the role of Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan, known as the Host and Lorne. The character was the consummate greeter at a karaoke bar named Caritas, where Lorne was able to read people by how they sang.

Hallett played Lorne for 76 episodes and sang in six of them. In one episode, he sang "Lady Marmalade."

Funeral arrangements were pending.

I only found out earlier this afternoon from another BB member on LJ, I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I wasn't getting it wrong. Sadly I wasn't.

Lorne was the heart and soul of the series, Andy was a remarkable actor in the role and he will obviously be greatly missed.

Gosh. Poor Andy. This is terrible news, especially in consideration of the fact that he was so young. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

What could I possibly say that hasn't been said already about this?

What a damned shame this has to happen to the good people such as Mr. Andy Hallett, while all the evil assholes of the world get to live long, healthy, and happy. Justice is not only blind....it's comatose.

He created one hell of a memorable character on "Angel", one that will endure as long as there are fans, which will forever be legion.

R.I.P. Mr. Andy Hallett. We'll see you again.

I know a couple of other people have commented on this already, but I feel this needs a proper thread.

RIP Andy.

I've just started another thread for this. Woops.
