Joss Whedon & Brian Lynch (plot) o Brian Lynch (w) o Franco Urru (a) o Urru, Alex Garner (c) At the conclusion of Angel: Season Five, all of Angel's efforts to save his friends and his city resulted in a hellish existence for all of them. Now, in the penultimate chapter of Angel: After the Fall, a final, climactic battle will see Angel live free or die for the final time. Once again presented courtesy of Joss Whedon, Brian Lynch, and Franco Urru. 2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.

Okay, it look like they throw this cover away, and replace it with the backside of issue #17. That's right no more wraparound cover for issue #17. You can thanks Wyndam (from *********) for that.

This is total a drag.

VBG can you elaborate on that, what happened to the cover?

Well, IWD released a cover for AtF #16, with Angel with fire all around. Posters at ********* said the cover sucks.
Then a month later the IWD released the cover for AtF #17 (the wraparound cover by Franco Urru). And Wyndam (a poster at *********) suggested that the wraparound should be cut in two, with the back being for issue #16. And IDW did it.

Note:Brian Lynch is a member at *********.

To be honest, I didn't like the cover with Angel on fire, so I'm sure glad I'm not running the risk of getting that one.

We already know something's not Kosher since Beta George contacted his Asylum buddies and they were under the impression that LA isn't in Hell. That also explains why the Scoobies aren't cowboying up to go rescue an entire city which includes two of Buffy's Champion lovers.

Has anyone read it yet? For the moment, I won't say much other than - WOW!
I will post more coherant thoughts after a few others have had a chance to read...

I haven't had the chance to read it but I've checked out the spoilers (couldn't help it).

Let me just say that... I never thought I'd see the day something like this happened in a Joss story. I'm astonished. Not unpleasantly so... but astonished.

i read it this afternoon, completed hated it, just for the fact that it ruins my Twilight is actually Angelus theory D=

i was sure it was him!

Ok lads..seriously! You have to tell us what happened! It will be next month before I get my issue...I'm dying here!

The quick version... Gunn kills Angel, Wolfram & Hart reset everything because they can't allow that to happen. L.A. is back, Angel is OK, he's a celebrity now, Connor is alive again, Groo is alive again, Wes is dead, Gunn is critically injured, Illyria is not a giant beetle anymore. Everybody now knows about vampires. And we have a big can of worms to work thru regarding how all this impacts Season 8. And there's still another issue to go, plus the Aftermath miniseries.

Um...wow. That actually really annoys me. I kinda makes the last 15 issues pointless. Is Angel still a vampire? Will it effect Shanshu? Also since he is famous can we assume that A)Buffy will have to know about him and Spike now and B) the comics are basically sharing the same timeline?

Angel's vamp, Gunn is not. and yes they're on the same timeline i think, they went back to LA during the apocalypse, they were only in Hell-A for a few minutes

and it's not pointless, they all know what happened, so now Angel has the memory of Conner dying, so does Conner, Gunn has to live with knowing he killed Conner and now has Angel pissed at him and Illyria now hates herself because she realises she killed Fred and ruined Wes's life, she's gained humanity.

and just for fun, it looks like Cordy(the dragon) is still on Angel's side

Oh that is so sad and nice that she feels now but what about Wes's ghost?
I was worried when I read spoilers too. I know it sounds like the whole series was pointless but don't be hasty in judging it too harshly - Read it first - It seriously rocks and makes a lot of sense and is (surprisingly) not just a cheap reset where everything goes back to exactly the way it was. The key difference is that everyone remembers everything that happened to them whilst in hell; Everyone from Angel down to the average joe on the street. It's not like 'I will Remember You' when only Angel remembers; everything that they went through acctually happened even though they returned to the point in the timeline just post Not Fade Away. Angel is still a vampire but he is kind of like a superhero now, to LA what Batman is to Gotham City, he's known, he's a celebrity. It makes the events of Harmonic Divergence so much more understandable. As for the Shanshu, that was the whole reason why the Senior PArtners can't let Angel die, why they pulled him out of the hell moment and put him back to where he was - they still want him to fulfill his shanshu destiny (which is apparently not a good thing) and bring about an apocalypse.
As for the Season 8/Angel timeline question, I'm not too sure. All we're certain of is that Angel has gone back to May 2004. When is season 8 set?

I think it's just over a year after Chosen...could be longer. If it is longer then ATF is now ahead of Buffy considering the events of Harmonic Divergences just happened. I'm pressuming Angel has been famous at least for a small period of time?

I don't think that math works though???

Thanks hun for the catch up too...you are my go to gal for all things ATF😀
