Angel And Faith Romance

I would be thrilled to see Faith and Angel together. I think they understand each other on such a deeper level than Buffy could ever begin to understand and "get" Angel, and I think Faith and Angel would be an excellent match. They're good together as friends, and I think as lovers they could be even better. They bring out the best in each other.

On some level, no I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen, especially after the Cangel debacle. But I would be so unbelievably NOT happy about it.

Yes, I think that Angel and Faith connect on a level beyond many other two characters; yes, they bring out the best in each other, and I also firmly believe that they are one of the fundamental reasons (for each other) that they both continue to fight for redemption. Does that mean they have to be lovers? NO!

One thing that really irks me about a lot of shows, especially in the past, is that so few writers have the stones to write a platonic male/female relationship without any hints of romance. They feel pressured to make something more of it and then shoot themselves in the foot. What Angel and Faith have is amazing and I would be devastated to see Joss force them together like he did with Cangel and then have it ruined.

On a side note: for once, B/A doesn't spring to my mind until AFTER my above thoughts, so you can't throw that at me either 😛

First and foremost (and this one is guaranteed to reinforce our world of disagreement standard 😉), Faith is way, way, WAY too good for him. He's so far beneath her, he practically comes out of the other side of the planet again.

Also, the very concept of romance in general sucks. Real, real bad. Especially when done by the Bad Had Dude. That's what Faith is too good for, too.

Probably more agreement material would be the fact that a Slayer boinking a vampire does get a tad trite after it's been done a few times. (I suppose you'd argue that even two times was plenty too much, eh? 😛)

Depends on if it's a slug as in snail (the poor thing! cruelty to animals, anyone?) or slug as in bullet (in which case, Slug/Bad Hair Dude could possibly have "Best. Ship. Evah!" potential if done with sufficient speed. :hehe: )

It really doesn't. I'm a B/A shipper, not blind. Angel and Faith would be hot as Hell. There is no denying that. I would have enjoyed more Angel/Nina or Angel/Kate. I'm opposed to Faith and Angel for the same reasons as I am against Angel/Cordelia: it is the sacrifice of a truly meaningful friendship for an ultimately inferior and inevitably ruinous sexual relationship.

I could see that. But I guess where we differ is that I thought Cordelia/Angel as organic, and think Angel/Faith would be too. It seems believable that Angel and Faith would develop feelings for eachother. But I think Elena has a point that in Buffyverse romance equals badness. I certainly don't want their friendship ruined. It seems likely for story's sake they'd want to give Angel a love interest. And well, Faith's the only girl around.

And also I think Flannen has a point that writers always put characters into a romantic relationship who were previously platonic. I think there's a reason for this though: in real life when people work together they often develop feelings for eachother.

But a lot of the time they don't. Literally all of my best friends are men and I haven't slept with any of them. It doesn't have to turn sexual.

And just taking the actual characters into consideration, I don't think Angel will be having sex again for a very long time. And Faith? Angel means too much to her. Sex has always been something meaningless to Faith, I honestly don't think she would risk her friendship with Angel for it. And strangely enough, I don't think she'd do it to Buffy.

Pretty much ditto on what Kean said. Most of my friends are guys and I have always got on better with them but I have never had any romantic or sexual feelings for them. I get that sometimes people meet in a workplace/work together etc and end up having feelings for each other but does it really happen more often than it doesn't? Think about how many men and women work together in any kind of scenario.

I believe it takes a lot of strength to write an authentic and genuine male/female and that's why we don't see it very often. Which is a shame because sometimes they are the strongest of friendships *cough*Lucas/Haley*cough* 😛
