Cordelia IS who Angel was meant to be with... it of course wasn't evident off the bat, but it became the loveliest gradually growing relationship in the 'verse... it clocked in its time, it displayed for us on a freaking platter just how beautiful it could be if only allowed...till we were robbed of the chance... damn you joss! Ressurect Cordy in the comics and give us our damn chance!

Angel definitely would not just forget Cordelia, throw away what they had, and run away to Buffy. Cordelia will always be in his heart, and she's really, the one for him, and he for her. Cordelia was able to bring out this reluctant shell of a vampire and change him into a better person. Angel, in turn, changed Cordelia into a beautiful, amazing, and better woman. Argue with me if you like, but you just can't compare to that.

Um he did in S5. After Cordelia went on coma on him he was back to wanting Buffy if he could. He basically told her that he would wait forever for her in Chosen plus his jelously of Spike wanting Buffy and how him and Spike fought over Buffy and how Angel had a dream of Buffy/Spike and how heartbroken he was by it.

Cangel didnt even last one year yet alone a real relationship with one another. Bangel is timeless as seen each year when they always somehow end up making with the smoochies when they see one another.

I don't actually care who Angel is with... as long as it's not with Buffy. But as for Xander, no, he should be with Anya. Dead Anya. Dead demon Anya. Cordy... don't really mind either. She can steal Angel from Buffy so Buffy could be with Spike. So I don't mind Cangel.

Again, there will always be a bond between Buffy and Angel. You never do forget the first person that you've fallen in love with or the first person that you think you're going to spend the rest of your life with. I don't think Angel was heartbroken.

Just because Cangel had a short time period, it DOES NOT MEAN that it's a bad relationship. The longer the relationship DOES NOT EQUAL TO a better one. Bangel isn't timeless. It's a fairytale love full of sprinkles and flying unicorns and frankly, quite disgusting.

Bull. Ellyce, my darling, I love you but I could not disagree more. What you have stated above is what non-Bangels want people to believe Bangel is but that was never actually true. At every stage of Buffy and Angel's relationship we are reminded of the reality of what it really means, that it isn't a fairytale. Even before Surprise, during Bangel's honeymoon period both and Angel and Buffy are forced to deal with the realities of what their relationship will entail...love and joy, that goes without saying but also heartache and sorrow. With every beautiful moment between them, there is a hard truth or painful lesson to be learned.

Their firts kiss is marred by Angels' transformation and Darla attacking Joyce. Throughout the first two series these lessons continue, Buffy dying and Angel's immortallity, the age and generation difference between them, Angel's vampirism, the future and what it will mean to them. Each episode a new challenge was presented to them. The ultimate challenge of Angelus still did not hinder their love for one another.

If their relationship was as hollow, frivorlous and sugar coated as the above statement suggests it would never have been resurrected in season 3 and continue to be an influence in the show until it's finale.

Just because Buffy and Angel continued to fight for their relationship despite all the problems presented to them does not mean that they were emotionally knee deep in a fairytale that could only ever be dreamed and not lived. It just means that their love was so strong and real that it was worth fighting for.
