But, we find out later in "Angel" that he fed off of criminals for a while to try to pretend like he was still evil. He even turned a man in a flashback to WWII. However, it is possible that Angel just didn't want to get into an explanation about this.

- Angel tells Buffy he was cursed by the Romany clan. Romany is the language of the Gypsies, not a particular clan.

- When the Three first attack Buffy, she and Angel rush back to her house and one of the Three manages to put his hand through her door, crossing the threshold. As they have not been invited, this could not have happened, as is shown many times in later episodes.

I didn't realize when he said he hadn't fed on a human since he got his soul that that was a lie. I think he kept some stuff from Buffy because he didn't want to get into it yet. I think he wanted her to get to know him because he loved her & for her to really understand what he was vs who he is. Great facts 🙂

Or even more possible that the writers made up new stories and tried to make them interesting but screwed up. But by all means lets blame Angel. 😀 Poor dude. When the show started he wasn't even a vampire was he?

As an Angel fan, I do believe he was lying. Angel does lie, he's not a bad person but he is a dark romantic hero. He needed to keep Buffy onside and for him to end up trusting him so he could further help her. You see? Sometimes you need to lie, bend the truth or manipulate slightly for the greater good.

I don't know if they had planned it from the beginning but that Angel guy certainly seemed mysterious and knowing too much. He was hiding sth it's obvious so...in "Angel" we finally find out what it is.

I honestly believe that the writers changed a few things about Angel's history when they were planning to make a series about him. It is possible that Angel didn't wanna mention the killers and rapists he ate after he had a soul, maybe because he was still trying to be Angelus at that time.

I always thought it was a little strange that Buffy let Angel stay in her house for a whole day while she went to school.

She didn't know he was a vampire at that point and there would have been no danger from The Three during the daytime (who WERE vampires).

I guess maybe a part of her wanted to keep the hawt brooding guy locked up in her bedroom! 😉


But seriously, what girl would leave a guy in her bedroom all day long and not expect him to try her underwear on over his head?!

I think that Buffy let Angel stay in her house for more than just that first night because he was injured. And because she wanted to keep the hot brooding guy in her bedroom as long as possible. ha ha

This has been bugging me. On a Buffy rewatch (yet again 😉) and...

Okay so having watched the entire series twice (both) why are Earth was that little talk from Darla enough for Angel to want to kill Buffy? It doesn't make any sense at all given all of the back story we get later on. I know probably 95% of his history wasn't even thought up during this season, but I can't even come up with a decent fanwank, lol.

We've seen the effect Darla has on Angel in Season 2 of AtS, but still even here just the simple "You're all alone. Kill her. blahblahblah" shouldn't have worked on him so quickly. He was just all ready & willing to kill her after that.

He wasn't thinking straight. He thought that Buffy was rejecting him because he was a vampire, that she wanted to kill him because of it. But after Buffy's initial shock-scream she was fine with his vampirism. She was hunting him because it seemed like he was toying with her emotions, pretending to like her as a joke, kill her mother and brag to The Master about how easy it was to get an invite into The Slayer's house and to gain Buffy's trust.

I don't think he would have killed Buffy. He was angry believing that the person that he decided to join the world for, to become a person for, the girl that he has loved from afar for over a year, was sickened by him, saw him as an evil thing. He didn't know she threatened him just because he was holding her bleeding-from-the-neck mother while in vamp face and assumed he had attacked her.

Angel is my fav episode in season 1...that may be because I'm a Bangel but...also because I feel like it's really the best in the season (along with Prophecy Girl). I thought it was weird for Angel to stay all day in Buffy's room but when she comes back and brings him food ..aww, the cuteness.

One of season 1's best episodes without a doubt for me. I love how Bangel develops in this episode. Firstly Angel saving Buffy from the Three and then staying the night and then Buffy realizing what Angel was. It was a fascinating watch.

The fact Angel saves Buffy again at the end and the moment they share is the beginning of a special relationship. All in all though a very entertaining episode from start to finish.

I loved this episode, Bangel was one of the best things that ever happened on the show. But i still have to wonder, when they were fighting the three, didn't buffy notice that angel was exceptionally strong? I guess she could be lost in the thrill of the fight, but still.....

and I never understood how vampires could bleed. You can argue that the blood came from the drinking, but then if the hearts not beating, wouldn't it stink like hell? and why would they be crazy pale? so confusing...but i LOVE it.
