Animated Series

I'm all for this, animated or motion-comic. The more Joss-involved Buffy-related stuff the better.

I'd love to see either Season 8 or the little animated blurb they came up with continued on (as they did in the "We'll Be Right Back" Season 8 issue). Maybe even Omnibus (though I have yet to read more than the first book).

I figure it like this:

1. They'll use existing comics, since it would cost too much to make entirely new comics just for this purpose

2. If Joss is involved, they'll most likely use a comic he was involved with creating...

And the season 8 comics are the only Buffy comics he's been directly involved with creating. (Unless they're going to do a "Fray" animation, which could seriously rock too.)

Is he involved with ATF?
Yeah, Fray would be fun. I wanna hear what the cars and the ray guns sound like, the music they'd use, what Urkonn would sound like. I bet Loo would be really annoying...

OMG Season Eight To Become Animated Series

It has recenly been annouced that a new animated series of BUFFY is being produced and will start of with some of the stories from season eight

I have collected some of the articles from the web here they are

'Details are still a little vague, but the show will (at least start off as) an adaptation of the Buffy comic books. He described the series as "motion comics." Will they be taking the original artwork and frames, just adding motion and sound effects, like the Watchmen motion comic or will they prodce a more traditional animated show, using the comic books as storyboards, is not yet certain. And what comics, exactly, is also uncertain. Is it some of the original comics that were released during the show's run ? Or is it from Buffy's "Season 8 ?" What is certain is that because they're using the comic books as their starting point, all our favorite characters will be returning and this animated series will compliment the original series. Whether any of the original cast will provide voices is uncertain (though I'm doubtful). But Joss Whedon is involved'

'An animated series based on the Season Eight comic books is being produced. "Joss Whedon's involved, but not on an "˜in-the-studio' kind of way. He will pop in at bench-marks and give the thumbs up to make the studio happen. Not as much involvement as any of us want, but its better than not any at all'

IS IT ME OR IS ANYONE LOOKING FORWARD 2 THIS

OMG! Best scrap of Buffy news ever, at least since a while ago.

I will not squee, I will not squee, I will not squee....Ah what the hell?...SQUUEEE!!!!!!!!!

It would be great to see it off of the ground again and actually formulated into a show.

Actually, there's a new bit of news on this front: Scott Allie (editor of the Buffy comics) just said in a Q&A that Fox does have plans for an animated Buffy project, but that the specifics people have been mentioning are *not* accurate. I'm thinking that means it won't be a "motion comic."

Could there be a full-fledged animated Buffy show or web series on the way? Definite possibility.

I rather have a web-series because if it turns into an actual TV Show won't it just be a flat comedy like family guy? could it be on Adult Swim?

charmingslayer agrees: Is he involved with ATF?

Yeah, Joss did AtF 1-17, but that's Angel, surely they wouldn't be calling this a Buffy Animated Series if they would be using AtF material.

I think after the Dollhouse panel at the upcoming Comic Con, Joss is gonna talk for 45 minutes about upcoming Dark Horse-related comic stuff. Hopefully, there's new info on this animated thing, whatever it may be.

sorry im really lazy if someone else posted this info, You can youtube : buffy animated show pilot and you'll find a 1-3 min promo of a cartoon that could have been. same actors running voices for giles, willow, xander, except different actress for buffy. Hope thats news 🙂

I'm pretty sure that's old though.

What we're hearing now is that a completely new animated series might be in the works.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. The rumor seems to be that Joss is not very involved which is a pretty big downside, so for me it would depend on whether the actors would be coming back after five (six?) years to voice their characters.

That'd seem to make sense, but can't actors literally "phone in" voice overs? I think having something like this would make it much more likely for the whole cast to be able to participate.
