Anthony Stewart Head latest Buffy star to slam Joss-less remake

But that's UK.. everyone knows that doesnt really count!

I resent that!! Granted, I don't actually watch many UK TV shows...but still!!!

And there is actually talk of doing a Friends movie. Not a reboot, as the original actors are talking about it. Although, Matt Le Blanc has said no way. It seems like it's the girls who are more interested.

Friends movie, original actors  I wonder if it will actually happen.
When it comes to superheroes and comics, there is no finite story to be told. There is a beginning, but how many have a middle and end? With TV shows it's a whole different ball game. The likes of The Sopranos, Buffy, Lost and The Wire..........these shows told the story that they wanted to tell. To the creators of those shows, the story is over, and there's no more to tell (not counting Buffy's Season 8/9 run).

I have to say, this is almost unheard of really when it comes to TV shows excluding Star Trek (technically it's not even a reboot). This whole idea of taking a TV show, rebooting it and making it a movie franchise....it's new ground isn't it? I'll hold fire because I'm not one to judge something before knowing the details. It could be a success.......but it could just as easily be a horrific car crash.

But it's not like with the superhero stories that they are taking the story and telling it another way. It's the exact same with Buffy, Joss version of Buffy had it's start, middle and end, this new movie is not slotting something new into Joss's cannon, they are taking the concept and going with a whole new story, just like any of the comic book stories.

I resent that!!
It was a joke momma bear! you were meant to resent that.. I expected verbal abuse by now. I am still willing to accept any, mind you.

Last I heard it was supposed to be grown-up just out of college Buffy, which is something the series tried, but never really explored. Or fully, at least. So it's not like the High School all over again thing.

I'd feel a lot easier about it if Joss gave his blessing though, but it looks like he hasn't:

I mean it'd be ideal if it was a Stan Lee situation where he hasn't a problem with new writers coming on board and taking the characters that he created to a place where he wouldn't have thought of.

Very, very much agree with this. What is Buffy if not a superhero? There was MONTHS between the end of the movie and the beginning of the show. LOADS could have happened in that time, and this is a way to get those stories out there.

We have no idea what the script is. Could be, it's just going to remake the movie, make it a little closer to what the show was. Or, they might do something that takes place after the movie ended, Buffy learning to cope with her new life. We just don't know.

And, you know, I'll bet there were fans of the movie who, fifteen years ago, were saying exactly the same thing were discussing now.

The more I think about this, the more excited I am for the movie. I really, REALLY want to see it now!!
