I really don't like Kendra. Can you say judgmental? I've just rewatched What's My Line Part 1 and 2 and just by looking at her, she just assumes she's a cheerleader. She also thinks she's better than Buffy. 🙁

And I cannot stand her accent. I'm glad she was killed off.

I don't think that's judgmental at all! I liked her a lot more the second or third time she showed up but that was of course when she died.
I had a better appreciation for the actress when she appeared on Bones with-out the ridiculous accent.

Hrm, maybe a little bit harsh. I think she was just a victim of the way she had been bought up more than anything. It sounds like she had never socialised with anyone other than her watcher, so she wasn't sure how to handle herself in social situations.

I do have to agree though, I never found myself totally warming to her like I have done with other characters, but also, wouldn't say I actively dislike her.

The accent was HORRIBLE!

It is not that I hated Kendra but when she messed with my man yes mine Angel and Spike I prefer to just have them both ;p
On all seriousness I just wanted to punch her for a moment. I was just like alright, but then if you look at it she was raised and trained differently than Buffy. I can't forgive that accent though lol. Poor girl she did her best.

I really don't think anything about Kendra because we haven't got a chance to meet her. She's just the first example that showed us how Buffy lucky was with her friends and family.

Haha, the funny thing about the accent was that they employed an accent specialist that swears black and blue that it is an exact replica of a specific place. Haha, it always makes me laugh when I hear that in the commentary!

Oh, I kinda loved Kendra actually. And here come the likes! I like that that she's an example of a girl who was raised to be a slayer. I like that she turns into a spaz around Xander and kills bad lamps. I like that she points out the risks of the Buffy/Angel relationship. I like how she bonds with Giles. I like that Buffy gets all bratty and bad-ass when she's around. I like that she only has one shirt. 😀
As for the accent. It's kinda silly which I like but it's genius compared to Angel's Oirish accent or that weird one Buffy's got going in Halloween - is she British?

I don't think i've ever heard of anyone who didn't like Kendra so this is really interesting for me, I however loved her and hated that she died so soon, I really wanted to see more of her. I agree with most people here, I think the reason she was the way she was is all because of how she was brought up and raised, she was pretty much unsocialized with anyone other than her watcher and she was pretty much raised to believe the slayer is to be alone with no friends and no family just her. As for her accent I liked it, it made her stand out as a character and it made her well her. I just really wish she was around longer 🙁 even though i love Faith also.

Her accent is probably the only thing I don't like about her. I feel like I can't breath when I hear her speak. Other than that, I really like her. She just hasn't met many people and she sure would adapt more. And I have her to thank loads because she's one the reasons Faith became a Slayer. 🙂

"I feel like I can't breath..." I love it, it really is that bad!!! lol
I liked Kendra all right, she wasn't really around much to get to know her. But that accent made it incredible hard to watch her. But she does have some good scenes. I was sad when she died but hey no Faith if she didn't so its perfectly fine with me lol.

The fact that Kendra's death for me was more emotional than Tara's says a lot in terms of how i valued the character.

Her relationship with Buffy was nice as was her brief chats with Giles. The accent appealed to me, i can't see much to dislike about her.

How was Kendra's death more emotional than Tara's?!?!?!?!
I've just rewatched What's My Line Part 1 and 2 and just by looking at her, she just assumes she's a cheerleader.

That was just Kendra trying to make fun of Buffy. It was Buffy who started the verbal sparring with lines like "A swing and a miss for the rookie", "Can you say stuck in the eighties" and "No offence but having your around creeps me just a little bit". Personally I have the very unpopular opinion that I wish Kendra had remained in the show instead of adding Faith to the cast.

I wondered once, how would things have gone if Kendra hadn't died?
Tara's death came out of nowhere. With Kendra's death it was slowly built up, what with Buffy running back while the sad music was playing and Kendra fighting bravely you know she's not going to get there on time.

There's no such scene with Tara, its just a shot and that's it, no music, it doesn't have the same effect, its all too sudden.

I can agree her death was very sad because of the way it was shot. Poor Kendra

I agree, Kendra's death was heartbreaking for me. :(
I hated Kendra the first time we met her... but by the time she died, I was really saddened. I grew to like Kendra about the same rate Buffy did.

Well, Buffy WAS a cheerleader... Nothing wrong with stating the truth. 😛

I like Kendra well-enough. I related with her and I thought that her perspective was a refreshing one. Can't say that I mourned her death though!

Also, I liked her accent. 😉

I never thought Kendra was judgemental. Well, she may be, but it's due to her upbringing.

She was trained since she was a child to be a Slayer (which always made me wonder: what happens to girls like her if they are never picked to be a Slayer? Do they fight evil or are they trained till they are too old to be a Slayer?). She was raised to obey orders, to stay away from men...That's all she knew before she came to Sunnydale. So I can understand her reactions when she appears in Buffy's world, because it's all so different for her! Kendra was raised to believe Vampire=bad. Slayer kills vampires. And that's it! It's a very black&white way of seeing things but that's the way she grew up!
And, she opens her mind when she realizes that everything isn't black or white. In a few episodes, she really grows up on me. And I love how she finds a reason to fight when her only shirt is torn! And when she gives Mister Pointy to Buffy, awn!

I was never bothered by her accent, just thought it was funnily cute!

I've always wondered that too.

Exactly how I felt. Kinda felt sorry for her, "That was me favorite shirt! That was me only shirt!"

Related with her? WHAT? 😉 I agree that her perspective was new since we had not seen a 'usual' Slayer yet. She made us realize that Buffy was really lucky to have a caring mom and such good friends to support her. I actually felt bad for Kendra sometimes because she was pretty much alone. Solitude kills.

But her death didn't really make me sad at all. I was more sad for Buffy, she couldn't get there in time 🙁

Her accent was funny, I agree!

That always cracks me up too! I can't stand her accent it's like nails on a chalkboard to me, I did however like Kendra.
She was kind of what I imagine the Watcher's council would like their Slayer's to be like. All about the mission and under strict control of a watcher... Also it's really funny that she can't be normal around Xander 😀

I thought it was sad but smart to have her killed, she wasn't a major character and didn't really have that much of an impact on the viewers but by being a Slayer alone it's understandable why her death would be such a shellshock to Buffy.

I like Kenda, I thought she was kind of cool. Her accent was kind of weird, but she wasn't that bad. But I wish we got to know more about her.
