Any Vegetarians Here?

Alright woman, ive told you this a bazillion times, I know I have...haah! I am! I have been for 3 years now...almost 4 on August 9th. I dont eat any meat or poultry or fish. ^.^

I've always wanted to ask this of a vegetarian, and please believe that no sarcasm is intended when I ask, but do you avoid using leather products as well? That would seem to me to be a necessity if you refrain from eating meat because of your objections to the slaughter of animals.

I am neither a vegetarian or vegan, but I have question to those that are.

What exactly qualifies one as a vegetarian? What qualifies as a vegan? I don't think I've ever got a straight answer on the two. Are they extremely different, or just slightly different?

A vegetarian- eats no meat but may eat fish or poultry.

A vegan- eats no meat whatsoever, no dairy products, doesnt wear leather or any fur, theyre all organic.

i am a demi vegetarian; i dont eat red meat, i dont eat fish. but i do eat chicken haha thats all. ewww i hate red meat. (N) ill probably go vegan soon.

i am veggie, I try to limit as much animal in my life as possible , i would not say I was full vegan though.

I dont eat meat of any kind, I dont where leather, i dont use any products that have been tested on animals and try to get things with no animal ingrediants what so ever. I dont buy dairy but I sometimes have cheese in a sandwich if I get it from the canteen at lunch for example.

Not necissarily true, I know plenty of vegans that aren't competley organic. Being organic isn't a guideline of veganism.

As for the leather issue.... try to stay away from it as best you can, but if you accidently find yourself owning a pair of leather shoes from before you made the switch or from a present you cannot return, you use them until they fall apart so that you get the most use out of them.

Leather poses less of an ethical problem because it's essentially a by-product of the meat industry. And on a more immediate level, I guess it's less squicky to wear a part of an animal that you don't recognise than it is to eat a lump of shoulder or something.

My family has a farm. Every season, there's always around 7 or 8 lambs that have to be hand reared because their mother's too sick or whatever to take care of them. I'd always assumed that when they were old enough, my dad would send them off just like any other animal. Turns out that he doesn't. He keeps them around, just because he can't quite bring himself to do it to those guys. Aww. Bless his secretly sentimental old heart. 😀

I'm not a vegetarian purely because I really don't think I'd eat enough to survive healthily otherwise. Lot of respect for vegetarians though, it's not easy.

I'm a vegetarian, has been now for 8 years or something like that. I tried to start eating fish a while back because I thought I needed it, but it didn't go too well, just felt really weird eating it after all this time.

I am vegetarian. Will have been for seven or eight years as of November. I forget which. Pretty sure it was 2000.

Definitely not a vegetarian or vegan, I don't think there's anything at all wrong with eating animals if they're not tortured or anything. And therefore I will use leather or other animal by-products...why waste? I bought a used Mustang with a leather interior and I like it so much I probably won't ever buy a cloth interior car again.

Although, I *am* trying to eat more veggies and not as much meat, just to stay a little healthier.

I love being a vegetarian, I actually find it empowering, and i am a lot healthier because of it. I just dont find flesh and fat and blood very appetizing. I try not to use leather, I REALLY dont wear fur. I'm am member of PETA. 🙂. I thought about eating chicken awhile back, but i cant bring myself to do it..I won't ever be able to haha.

Have been a vegetarian for over ten years now.

I personally wouldn't call someone who eats fish or poultry a vegetatian, but to me the definitions aren't really that important though. About a year ago I started eating fish once in a while, maybe ten times during this last year?

But generally I don't consider meat/seafood food, to me it's just dead animals, and it'd feel gross for me to eat that.
(I'm not a big fan of animals btw. Alive or dead.)

Oh and Ash I had no idea you were a vegetarian, silly me.

I have been a vegetarian for three years. I love it. It was hard at first but now when I think about eating meat it seems disgusting. I love aniamls and I don't think I could ever eat one again! It's so sad. Yup vegetarian is the way to be:biggrin:

I am not a vegetarian or veganist, I just eat healthy, so I avoid red meat as much as possible and have loads of veggies and fruits in my diet.

I don't necessarily avoid leather, but you won't see me getting a leather couch/ interior/ pants/ jacket because its leather. As for fur I am thoroughly against it and I try to avoid buying animal tested products (long live The Body Shop!)

what can I say, ambivalence is my middle name 😛

I tried to be a vegetarian. It really didnt work. I did eat less meat tho, which i guess is a good start! I'll try harder when I finally get back to my own country and can choose what food gets bought for my kitchen.
