I might be just like you!
So, as the title says, anyone here know anything about Packet Loss reducing the speed of your broadband connection?
Basically my internet speed goes up and down like a yo-yo. I used to have a 5mb line, now on a good day I might get a 1.5mb line if I'm lucky, on a bad day, like yesterday and earlier today, I was down to a 22kb line.
I searched the internet for potential causes & quite a few recommended that downloading a program called Ping Plotter would identify where I am losing packets, which causes a loss in speed, but it's a bit over my head really.
What I want to be able to do, is contact my ISP and prove that it's their fault that the speed is so bad.
BT who provide the phone line say that that's working 100%, and AOL, say that they can't find a fault either & are blaming BT, but according to that Ping Plotter all my problems are caused by my Hop 2 which is an AOL proxy something, and I'm losing up to 100% of my Packets there.
I just want to be able to write & complain to them...AGAIN...that it's something to do with their network, but I need to word it well, so I look like I know what I'm talking about to some extent 'lol'
Anyone here able to help, or point me in the right direction? 😀 I know we have a few techy peeps around these parts. 😉
Thanks!!
