If it is a joke, I suspect it will be kind of divisive. It's a very sensitive area. Unless the intent is really to get rid of Spike fans, I'm not quite sure why this choice would be made.

No one is getting rid of Spike fans! That's just being overly dramatic. Just saying for the benefit of the boards that you can't discuss Spike in his own threads. But Spike fans aren't being made to leave!! Heavens no. We want them here. Everyone is welcome.

Or at least as far from what I gather from the OP.

The mods are the mods - this is their board and I respect that. As Buffy said, if anyone disagrees they can leave. I kinda did for a while now - this might make it permanent, but that's okay. My choice - I don't wish ill on anyone here.

I just don't believe that arguments take place in a vacuum - the mods have been good about policing these disagreements, and have agreed that fans on both sides of any give argument usually manage to ratchet up the tension.

Huh? Did you just contradict yourself or am I reading this wrong?

I participate in plenty of threads that don't include Spike, but the fact that creating threads that include him will not be allowed would put a damper on my participation. The fact that he is no longer listed as a character is just bizarre. For what it's worth, censoring discussion of any character would really do the same. It's a matter of different priorities - censorship as an answer isn't in my list of options.
 
Isn't it going to be hard talking about Angel without with out mentioning him. I mean Angel is his grandsire right ?

Okay, I'm quite new to this forum, but I have been part/seen fandoms have shipwars like these. It always really bothers me. I just don't understand that if you have a differing view on something, let's say Spuffy vs. Bangel, then why don't you respect each other.

Tara is my favourite character, but I can have a normal discussion with someone who hates Tara. I might not agree, but I respect that person's view, since their interpretation and opinions of the show is just as valid as mine.

Idk, I am passionate about Buffy, it is my favourite show of all time, but I don't get the hate. We are all here together because we love Buffy, we might not agree on everything, but that's fine right? I think discussing a lot of the things in this show is a lot of fun. I have seen people giving me their view on some topics and realised that I never thought about this?

If this is really a thing, maybe we should start respecting each other again. If you don't agree you just say to each their own and that's it.

Idk, maybe you might not agree with me, but can't we all get along?

I agree with you that it seems to have gotten out of control here & to be frank I don't know myself what to do.
But it seems to be quite a shame that it had to happen.

I think we should not talk about Buffy & Angel then since Spike was taken down.

That is exactly the point. Why,when discussing Angel, does EVERYTHING have to be turned into a Spike vs Angel debate? It's more than possible to talk about Angel without bringing Spike into it. They aren't joined at the hip.

I have met plenty Spike/Spuffy fans who are perfectly nice people and who can present a normal argument without bullying or hate. I don't ignore or have tried to ignore anything.

Wow - where to start. Insolence - isn't that like arguing with mom about getting chores done? And when have you ever been concerned about insolence. Be careful - I'm beginning to believe you actually support this, and that would be just weird.

I question the basic assumptions that insolence on an adult discussion board can't be moderated, that only Spike related threads contain insolence - and most of all, that those who are bothered by some differing opinions actually need to be protected from insolence.
