Are you guys into any vampire-related shows besides Buffy?

Re:

I'm an avid True Blood watcher even though I think it has gone downhill since the first season. I just love Lafayette and Pam. Also I watch a show on Syfy called Lost Girl. Not sure if anyone watches but it's about a succubus and all of her fae (and human) friends. (Smokin' hot werewolf dude. Just Sayin'.) Supernatural has been constant for me since the first episode. I really love this show, I do not think they have ever "fallen off" so to speak. Never a dull moment. And I guess the spicy man candy on that show doesn't hurt any either. I tried Vampire Diaries and I almost Lol'ed. No way.
I read alot of different things. I have read all ofCharlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels, all of the Anita Blake Series by Laurell Hamilton (Although after book 6 it's pretty much vampire porn), and I kind of enjoyed J.F Lewis' Staked trilogy. There's been many others. I'm about to start the Joe Pitt novels by Charlie Huston, and The Sandman Slim novels by Richard Kadrey.

I tend to be a fan of the vampire genre, I blame it all on Bram Stoker's Dracula, Anne Rice and of course The Lost Boys.

Enough said. You rock.

Interesting, might have to check that out.

Totally agree, and oh yeah, spicy man candy.

I felt that way too at first but upon giving it a second chance I came to really enjoy it (though seasons 2-3 more than season 1)

🙂

Ohhh, I just finished the first 3 Sandman Slim books, I loved them! Hope you like them 🙂

I've just started with the Anita Blake series, I've read the first 2. I don't mind them, definately entertaining enough so I have picked up the next 2 books. I don't much like the idea of the later ones being just vampire porn though, should I bother with them at all? Or is there no point really?

Oh and I agree about Supernatural and True Blood 🙂 I love Pam and Lafayette too. I also love Eric and Jessica 🙂

After Blue Moon if you are not into the whole succubus and her herrem of men constantly getting it on then no, don't bother. Obsidian Butterfly was pretty good with the absence of sex (for once) but it's quite a few books after Blue Moon. It's a good series, but it just gets old after a while.

Hmmm, I guess I'll just have to see how I go with it. Thanks :)
I've never bothered with any other vampire shows. Of course though, I don't watch Buffy because it's a vampire show, I watch it because it's well, in one word, amazing.

I would watch another vampire show if it were amazing as well, but VD seems to be just a whole lot of romance and drama, and TB doesn't really appeal to me. Meh, but who am I to judge, I haven't watched them. 😛

I totally forgot about Being Human. The UK version that is. I love that show 🙂

I tried the American version, but it just didn't do it for me. I tried to go into it reminding myself that it was a totally separate show, but I couldn't help but compare it to the UK one, and it just doesn't measure up for me.

Good call. I find the occasional episode enjoyable so I still watch.
A story is good if it appeals to me in some way. Simple as that. Not because it has vampires or anything else specific in it. The same goes for characters.

When it comes to Buffy and Angel it's not so much the story for me. Some of them I don't care about and some are downright silly. Others are great. So it's a mix but I don't go around saying that I love the shows because of their amazing stories. I love the shows though. Don't doubt that. Because of the characters. How they interact with each other. Probably why I prefer Firefly over both of them.

I can see the appeal in vampires and werevolves even if they're not my "thing". The zombie love I don't get at all. Unless you're a fan of horror as such which I'm not. Not meant to diss the ones that love zombies. Just personal taste.

As for Supernatural I've watched all of it and what got me through it all is the comedy. Which isn't noticable in all episodes. I've made my own collection of episodes and that's what I'll rewatch. Not the whole show. Even though there's "serious" episodes as well that I enjoy.

No, I'm not big into vampire related shows/movies. I like Buffy and Angel because they are just in a league of their own. I do sort of like the Underworld movies, and I did enjoy Fright Night only because Tennant was in it. I've heard True Blood is good, and I have also heard good things about TVD, I just don't watch. :]

I used to watch Moonlight, Blood Ties (which wasnt that great) and Vampire High (again not the best).

I have tried to get into Vampire Diaries and True Blood but I read the books first and cant seem to get into them.

Not really entirely vampire related, but I love Charmed and Supernatural. With the Vampire Diaries, I liked the books, but the show was a let down for me.

huh, never read the books but their worth reading it sounds like?
Wow, I'm suprised at how many say they arn't into other vampire related shows. As for me? Absolutely. I'll give anything vampire related a chance, really anything supernatural, sci-fi, or fantasy.

I love love love Vampire Diaries and True Blood. I even looooove Twilight. Yeah, I said it. 😉

I'm kind of in the middle regarding vampire related shows. I do enjoy "True Blood" but missed last season entirely. I might watch it if I have the time to do so. Although, I never got into "Buffy" for the vampire aspect of it. I love fantasy/horror types of shows, but what kept me invested and continues to keep me invested years later, are the characters and storylines. Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Cordelia, Spike, and the fabulous writing and storylines keep me coming back for more. 🙂

And I'm loving all the "Supernatural" love here. I just got into the show, and now I'm kind of obsessed. 😀 I knew I was obsessed when I was watching Season 6 and I was in agony over what <SPOILERS> was going on with my favorite character, Castiel. It kind of reminded me of the downward spiral that happened to Willow at the end of Season 6.

I love Cass, too!
Ok I attempted to read the previous comments but there are more than I want to read right now haha.

I'm a fan of th earlier season of True Blood and although the latest season was intense I didn't love it.

I'm a huge fan of Vampire Diaries but the show can really try your nerves at times. I find it entertaining and some of the acting and writing is really good. At the same time the acting and writing can be pretty rough. The books are almost completely different than the tv show though other than the main characters names. If you had to choose one I would definitely watch the tv show over reading the books.

Moonlight I only watched a few episodes but it reminds me of what Angel the show would have been like if they focused more on Angel working with Kate

Team Stefan all the way 😀 im an originalist, I like original relationships. Buffy and Angel, Edward and Bella, Elena and Stefan ect.

I'm a huge True Blood fan. I haven't seen any Vampire Diaries. I know Vamps are on Supernatural from time to time and I dig the heck out of that show.

Honestly I am really picky. I don't like movies like Underworld, or Blade. Its action movies with CGI.. eh. When it comes to movies, I prefer Near Dark, Vampires, Dracula, Interview with a Vampire, etc.. less action, less cgi.. more story!!

100% agreed! :)
Dear god, this isn't really a TV show, but I forgot my favorite vampire movie of all time.

Underworld.

Unrated.

Director's Cut.
