Any Arrested Development fans here? I just finished watching season 4 and thought I'd make a thread. What did people think of the new season? I loved it. At first I found the format really odd, but by the end everything made sense. I really love the complexity of it and how everyone's stories are intertwined. I hope they make another season and/or movie. 🙂

I liked it! But it was a little dark for me. I used to really like Tobias, but I think we got a little too much of him, and not enough of Buster & GOB...

That's true. I wish there had been more Buster. And I didn't really care for Debris. I don't know what Tobias saw in her lol. I can't complain about Tobias' screen time, though, because he's one of my favourite characters.

I really liked Maeby's story line, which surprised me a little because in the earlier seasons she'd never been my favourite character.

There can never be enough G.O.B or Lucille imo. 😀

I need to Gob/Tony feel. Blunder is my OTP and I just... I got hit by this ship like a truck. I feel just... I have been killed..

I liked the season, the darkness of it was appealing to me. What I didn't like was the technique of switching perspectives every episode. I found it got confusing and convoluted.

Same!!! 😀 I ship G.O.B/Tony too!!! I never saw it coming, but now it's my Arrested Development otp. Blunder is such a great name for them. 🙂

They're so perfect! And like they slept together and like it... just no
It was brilliant, it was everything TV should be complex storytelling that broadcast networks are afraid to do. The first two episodes were confusing but completely made sense by the end, the intertwined stories were brilliant, it made stuff we've seen in older episodes relevant and funny all over again when the jokes paid off in the end.

I love that they made the series for the fans, if they had made it trying to get new people, they never would have done it like that, its far to confusing. This was made knowing people we're going to watch all the episodes and would watch them relatively close together.

I wish more television was like that!

I agree there should have been more GOB, and a little less Tobias, he isn't as funny constantly in the spotlight, he's a much funnier background character. (him getting onto the gay ship thinking it was a pirate ship is one of the funnies television moments EVER, I still laugh out aloud every time!

And Kristen Wiig as Lucille was amazing! I also could have done with a little less George, I was never a fan of his stories, but he works as a background character.

I wanna say focusing on Tobias this time and not on Gob hardly at all, and all of his focus being at the end sets up a Gob-centric season 5.

YES!

I like George sr, but agree.

IMO, the general issue is, Arrested Development wasn't strictly an equal ensemble. Michael was always clearly the lead, and the other characters served as comedic asides most of the time. Unfortunately, this was one show that heavily suffered from not being able to get the entire cast together.

To use the completely different example of the Buffyverse, you've got at least half a dozen of the characters who could easily carry individual episodes with little input from the rest.

I love Arrested Development! My favourite show def

I loveedd Season 4 but it was still the weakest season imo~ I loved Lucielle's episode best! GOB's, Lindsay's, and Maeby's episode were also really great.

-I really like they managed to connect Maeby to the rest of the family, in the previous season she was soo disconnected from her family, did she ever even talk to Buster, George Sr. or GOB?

-There wasn't NEARLY enough Buster or Lucielle this season >:-(

-Some episodes were weak, George Sr. for example, I don't think he's interesting/funny to carry an episode.

-I kinda liked Tobias' episode, though I might've liked it more if there was no DeBrie, she was just straight up depressing, it kinda made some of his episode just =/ though ANUSTART and him getting arrested was HILAR I lost it when he asked Maeby to help him "get his rocks off" when he wanted to get his "The Thing" costume off.

I did a rewatch before watching season 4, definitely think season 3 is the weakest, verging on bad. The whole Mr. M/England thing was really uninteresting to me when I rewatched, while season 1 and 2 were gold
