Haha when I tell people I dont like summer and that I do like winter they look at me like Im off my trolly. The only thing I like about summer is that it makes it better to go out at night, Its good going down to the pubs near the beach at night. But yer the insects, holy crap I hate freaking flies the way you know when they land on you they are either pooping or spewing apparently, and cockies, freaking hell, especially those big flying ones EEEPPPP!. Every thing does smell worse, especially when you are in the city thats the worst getting into a lift with a bunch of stinky sweaty dudes in business suits is no fun at all.

or like yesterday when I got stuck on a PACKED tram full of stinky sweaty people heading to the beach - deoderant is still a neccessity even if you are beach-bound!

I think you should try a winter over in the UK! I am! lol
Hmm okay, so you have made all my whinges sound not so bad! I'm going to get you to do the same thing monthly over summer!
In January I think I'm going to escape Perth at some point and go down south, maybe Margaret River.
Snakes don't freak me out so much, I think spiders are way way worse. Absolutely hate them! I have the hugest fear of getting bitten by a red back!
Haha, and I'm definitely going to blame everything this summer on school holidays!

Hello there, my fellow hell dimension dwellers! 🙂

I thought I might mention this for those of you who have the sci fi channel on foxtel and dont know about this yet. I keep seeing the end of this ad for something called the Joss House that is coming next month but I only ever get the end of it and was totaly lost so I looked it up, turns out its all Buffy, Angel and Firefly episodes that are going to be running every sunday from November 30. I watch buffy on there in the mornings and that but Ive never seen firefly so Im pretty happy about that bit. Just thought you guys might wanna know, perhaps we will get lucky and there will be some kind of interviews or something as a bonus, they ran an interview from season 3 that I had never seen before the other day and am dying to see again as I didnt catch the whole thing. 🙂

Questions from Potential Visitors to Australia

The questions below about Australia, are from potential visitors. They were posted on an Australian Tourism Web site and the answers are the actual responses by the web site officials, who obviously have a sense of humour.

Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on TV, how do the plants grow? (UK).
A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die.

Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? (USA)
A: Depends how much you've been drinking.

Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad tracks?(Sweden)
A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, take lots of water.

Q: Is it safe to run around in the bushes in Australia? (Sweden)
A: So it's true what they say about Swedes.

Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia? Can you send mea list of them in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay? (UK)
A: What did your last slave die of?

Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia? (USA)
A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe. Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the Pacific which does not... oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked.

Q: Which direction is North in Australia? (USA)
A: Face south and then turn 180 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions.

Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? (UK)
A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.

Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA)
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is...oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.

Q: Can I wear high heels in Australia? ( UK)
A: You are a British politician, right?

Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney and is milk available all year round?(Germany)
A: No, we are a peaceful civilization of vegan hunter/gatherers. Milk is illegal.

Q: Please send a list of all doctors in Australia who can dispense rattlesnake serum. (USA)
A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets.

Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees. (USA)
A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of Gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.

Q: Do you have perfume in Australia? (France)
A: No, WE don't stink.

Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? (USA)

When is it you're coming on over to Sydney, Aussie? I hope that the weather picks a season by the time you get here! 😛

Melbourne's claim to 4 seasons in one day - clearly hasn't seen Sydney weather recently 😀

Oh! I thought it was 4 seasons everyday.
I just had the weirdest thought, do you think that if Austrians used slang, they'd also call themselves Aussies? Hmmm... 😉

Anyhooo.....I get to see Eskimo Joe again tomorrow! In Glasgow! Oh I love it when home things travel! I seriously did ask for tim tams and twisties from the friends that are coming over to spend Christmas with me...something tells me they might have thought I was kidding....

*hopes for tim tams and twisties*

Seein snow on BB is weird for me! I never had a cold christmas :p
Oh god...I LOVE Eski Joe!

It was freaking awesomeness...a room full of Aussie accents in Glasgow which was hilarious. We got in while the support act was playing and Kav was just standing in the bar area...well, he wasn't just standing there, he was in what looked like an in depth conversation so I didn't want to bother them...but I was so close...so for a little while we shared the same air! I know, I'm a total fan girl when it comes to Eski Joe...had I said anything to him or any of the boys I'm sure it would possibly resemble something like a unintelligible squeal. They played Liar! I haven't heard that song for soo long!

And.....new album for next year, they're gonna be in Glasgow again April 5th...I''ll probably be around so hell yes I'm gonna go!

*squees*

I remember being 15 and going into where Kav worked and hanging around like a bad smell!
I only found out yesterday that it's the summer in Australia. My sister sat me down and explained it to me. I still don't get it. July is the winter there? It's tripping me out.

No Spoons, we dont have winter here, the sky turns green and the grass turns purple and we walk on our hands backwards in July.

My pet kangaroo always goes crazy when it's green sky weather!
This is sort of off-topic, but I have a question for the board's Australian residents...

Where is the best place to live or visit on the east coast?

I wouldn't really know, as I'm a westy. But I've visited Sydney and absolutely loved it, but my partner lived there most of his life and said it's not the greatest place to live... So... Apparantely Brisbane is amazing, but then again if you're used to Canadian weather the Brisbane heat might give you heatstroke!

In terms of East Coast though...GC FTW! XD
It depends on what you want out of a place to live I'd say. Melbourne and Sydney are popular (if you like that sort of thing 😛), I'm a Queensland girl at heart and I gotta say I love Brisbane and the Gold Coast, but yeah...it can get hot. Unless you have those nice coastally breezes 😉

Eskimo Joe come from the west coast though!
I rekon the Gold Coast too is the best to visit but Im from WA too so whats exciting for me is dull and boring for the rest of the world 😉 Sydney is alright, Melbourne was better but probably cos I havent been there so much so it was all new and fun and I like cake. If you want to be at the beach and drinking cocktails and that, I would say the gold coast for sure! Or the Islands a bit further up the coast. If you want shopping and city stuff then Melbourne and Sydney are great, Canberra is just a hole.
To live Perth is great, its such a nice easy going lifestyle here, if that is what you like. Its a little too slow at times 😛 Its really a big sprawling country town. Sydney is nice to live at, its got a bit of everything but I gotta say I couldnt live out of West Aussie for too long.

Yep, Canberra is the biggest hole ever!
