Well personally I like Spike as a character more than Angel because when Angel is on Buffy he is sooooo depressing and always in the dark corners where as Spike is funny. But I also like EVIL Spike when he is with Drusilla so I would say Bangel was the better healthier relationship for Buffy. And I agree with sharkshark SPUFFY is such a fun word.:lmao:

I'm probably gonna get my head chopped off and put in the stew pot for this, but I sorta liked both relationships when they were in their proper times. Angel was the sort of deep dark stranger with the mysterious past and the brooding nature that a lot of fifteen year old girls just can't resist. (Go ahead, ladies, curse and rebuke me for being the clueless cur that you believe me to be),
Buffy had to grow into Spike. That much passion at age 15 would kill even a Slayer. And that cookie dough thing? Angel better not be waiting around for the Chips Ahoy, cause Spike's got the market cornered.

personnally i'm all for spuffy but there are some scenes between buffy and angel that just make me go awwwwww

I agree with white avenger and wiccianslayer on the fact that I liked both relationships when they were happening. They both had their ups and downs which every relationship does. One of my favorite scenes of the show is the last part of Chosen when Spike and Buffy's hands catch fire and that is just the perfect Spuffy moment so I would agree that they both had their moments.

That hands bursting into flames scene has always been one of my favorites to. Am I the only one who saw that as a portent of something meant to happen in the future? Spike didn't catch fire until after Buffy turned and left, so it couldn't have been that.

I'll admit it, I'm a Bangel shipper....with a lot of appreciation for Spuffy because without such a thing Spike would not have been (at least) half naked nearly as many times as he was.

In all seriousness though, both relationships make sense in the times that they happened. And they both have good points and bad points. And I can also see Angel being the one that gets to eat cookies while Spike gets comforted by me.

I love Bangel.
I adore Spuffy.
Those last episodes of S:7 I was so wanting her to just let herself fall into Spike. I was all for the Spuffy. And at the same time, those precious few moments with Buffy and Angel at the beginning of Chosen, just that teeny weeny suggestion that there was hope for Bangel... *sigh*.

Ok without reading anyone elses opinion! I believe that Bangel is better than Spuffy! Hear me out people! While I do not deny that Spike is a totally awesome character I seriously believe that a relationship between Spike and Buffy could never work out for many reasons. Their relationship was based upon lust and while that made for some extremely hot scenes it is not the making of a beautiful relationship. They would only ever end up hurting each other.
Bangel also has it's problems which I do not deny but the main one is simply Angel's curse. I think if that was ever resolved Angel and Buffy would be together and stay that way, without hurting each other the way that Spuffy always did.
While I think that Bangel is much better I want you all to remember that I have nothing against Spike. In fact when it comes down to the individual characters Spike is better than Angel. However the fact of the matter is we are talking about couples and not singles. While Spike is better as an individual Bangel is better as a couple. That is all I will say on the subject!

I think you're confusing passion for lust. Passion is what made Spike earn his soul because of his love for Buffy.

i avoided this debate for a while but i can resist no longer...
my vote is that Spuffy is better because by the end Spike and Buffy understood eachother, they had moved on from the lusty, sex-based relationship of season six to a trusting and mutually supportive relationship that still had the very important ingredient of physical attraction too!
i'm not going to criticise Bangle because i love Angel too, just not with Buffy.

ok I have one more thing to say! Although they did come to an understanding, I think it would be too hard for any person to move on with someone who tried to rape them! In the end she would would only become paranoid and it would tear them both apart!
