Those three are absolutely perfection. There is also that one by Trixen where Buffy goes back in time to WWII era but it was abandoned and that is heart breaking! It was getting so good.

@Mylie if you haven't read the three above start with those! Phoenix Burning should legit be a novel it's so amazing.

You guys know that the Spuffy thread has reviews for ff, we could do that here too if there were enough interested parties.
 
@Mylie It's a downer, but I think St_Salieri's Quietus is probably the most realistic depiction of The Meeting that I've read. I'm working on one myself that I hope I'll get the courage to post eventually (it's less realistic! ha!). Maybe for the IWRY marathon this year.

@nileqt87 I agree that I'd love to see more early days stuff, and that Taaroko is so great. I think Kairos has a lot of good stuff set during Season 3 that you've probably read. Pair Skating, Help the Helpless, and Damnation's Castaway Awakening come to mind. I also just came across Dark Star's The Lull again (it sets up the bedhead moment in The Prom).

Another dystopian future fic I like is La Mariée by Maren.

@dcai0830 I think I saw that you were looking for non-Cordelia bashing B/A, so you might like ariaadgio's Some Say in Ice, if you haven't read it, which excitingly was just posted this year. Also, I would definitely participate in some fic review threads!
 
I'm 100% in for a review thread. It would definitely help me start reading fanfics. I don't know where to start!!! Thank you @dcai0830 abd @Grace for the recs! I'll try to read them soon and give my feedback!

And @Grace I hope you get the courage to post it. I would really love to read it! But no pressure, I understand if you don't want to. Writing fanfiction seems a bit too hard for me, that's why I try contributing with gifsets instead lol

Saw this thread and was just going to recommend 'Some Say in Ice'. I read it recently and really enjoyed it.
One fic that has always stuck in my mind is 'La et Ailleurs'
 
@Grace and @EarthLogic I love "Some Say in Ice" I actually commented on her AO3 page how she did such a beautiful job balancing the Bangel/Cangel. She says she isn't writing in the fandom right now 🙁 Hopefully she gets inspired to get back soon! Her story Swan Song is also beautiful, and had me in tears.

Let me get my act together with work (ugh real life) and maybe I'll start a FF review thread see who else wants to join 😉
 
Thanks for sharing! I remembered I read a retelling of "Angel" from Willow's perspective recently as well. The Stranger by Perri Smith. (I haven't read through any of the others, but there's a series of retellings of S1/S2 eps from different POVs here and it looks like some B/A stories mixed in here. I hadn't come across this site before.)

And I think you have this story of Carly's among your links, but it's a great Prophecy Girl-inspired fic: A Whole New World

Oh, man, I read Leni's Gamble on Destiny recently and it was devastatingly good.

I'm curious about other people's favorite post-NFA happy-ending (or at least happy-ish) stories. A few of my favorites have already been recommended in this thread (Marenfic's Weight of Life, for example), but I'd love to hear what others enjoyed.
 
@NileQT87 I love Wishverse Bangel too. Indie's is my favorite. I wish there were more out there. I love the broken down closed off Buffy and Angel helping her through it.

@Grace some of my fav post-NFA with happy-ish endings include:

Out of the Dark - its a bit darker for Buffy at first but I love seeing Angel pull her out of her darkness (those are my favorite type of fics).

There is another one out there and it's bugging me because I didn't bookmark it so that makes me sad but it's post NFA, Buffy joins Angel and works with him at AI, he is still dating Nina and she has a boyfriend and they learn to work together and they train together and they argue etc. She keeps telling people she is not working for Angel even though it is still called Angel Investigations. Its a cool short piece that I found very believable. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please give me name! 🙂

And I just thought of yet ANOTHER one where Post NFA Buffy/Spike run into Nina/Angel, it starts off at a masquerade ball. Can't remember the name of that one either! Boo.

PS - I didn't check ratings so please check the ratings/warnings on fics before reading to make sure they are age appropriate for you 🙂. I am old so I can read it all muahaha.

I fear I have read all of the Bangel fan fic out there. There doesn't seem to be anything new that I haven't come across but I'm determined to find some new fic OR hope that more is written 😉

Carly is great! My favorite is If You Drive Me Back. I like a good think-y fic. 🙂

Are you thinking of Marenfic's Intermezzo for the one where Buffy joins Angel at AI? I think I recognize the other one, too, but I'll need to think about it more to find it.

Good thing November's not that far away 🙂 I noticed fluffernutter8 signed up for IWRY again this year. Her If I Forget Thee is another great post-NFA one.

Yes! Thank you! I love how that one doesn't pretend that Buffy and Angel would immediately get back together and everything would be magically hunky dory. Truth is it would be an interesting little journey and I found her Buffy so believable how she would be avoidy and in denial about her feelings for Angel. I thought it was very realistic.

I know there is an old thread with this title but I wanted to re-vamp it especially heading into IWRY 😉. If you come across a great Bangel fics tell us! Especially if they are new to writing in our fandom. That way we can go read the fics and leave feedback for the writers it will encourage them to continue to write more fics and everyone wins.

I wanted to recommend a NEW fic that is a WIP but the writer promises she is not giving up on it.

Just wanted to pop in to say that maybe you could add short summaries as I would like to try reading something outside of what I'm used to and a summary could tell me if I should give it a try. Just a suggestion, of course, since this is in the Bangel forum and this thread isn't for non-Bangels 🙂

Well, it's not by a new writer, but @Kairos' Wolfsbane was published this year and I don't think it's been mentioned here yet.

Buffy and Angel are called to the Cleveland Hellmouth to investigate a series of mysterious deaths. The local werewolves, Oz included, have been suspected - but the truth is a greater evil than any of them have encountered since the Battle of Los Angeles.

(@Puppet, I'd say this one is more ensemble-focused than relationship-focused, though it is B/A. It's also Spike/Faith, though, so I'm not sure how you'd feel about that. I'm not a Spike/Faith shipper myself, but their scenes in this were actually some of my favorite parts.)
