Here's the first in an ongoing series I'm going to be doing to highlight some of the more confusing or hidden features of the board.

For this one, we're going to look at something that's been giving quite a few of us trouble, and that is, the control for different kinds of "quoting" at the bottom right side of each post.

So if you take a look at a post down there on the right side, first you have Like (which is pretty self explanatory) and then the ones we're looking for:

Quote - Clicking on this one will add the post in question to the Multi-quote. You can add multiple posts in this way. When you are ready to insert your quotes into your reply, click on "Insert Quotes" down below the box where you type your post. A box will pop up that will let you order and/or remove your selected quotes.

Reply - Clicking on the Reply link will quote just that one post and put it in the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the thread. This behaves like the "Quote" button from the old board.

Save Quotation - This link will save the post to the Random Quote list that is displayed in the sidebar on the main page.

You can also select parts of a post to quote rather than the whole thing by highlighting the bit you want to quote; a tooltip will come up which will allow you to click on Quote to add to the Multi-quote, or Reply to reply to just that one quote.

Hope that clears that up a little bit!

I gotta say I like this system a lot better.

Before I couldn't actually do multi-quotes at all, really hampered my debating skills.

Another score for the updated site! Whoop! 🙂

some might be wondering
I was wondering about that save quotation! I thought it was like if you said something really good and wanted to remember it, so weeks later you could look back at all the wonderful and insightful things you said and marvel in your own wit and intelligence. I never would have thought it would have put it in the show quotes.

Just a reminder because it's happened multiple times in the past couple days from multiple people: "Save Quotation" adds what you type to the random quotation on the main page. If you want to quote with reply use Reply or Quote.

🙂

Sorry my bad! It has been a long time since I have been in a forum. I was trying to make a comment in the person's post. You know like down at the bottom, circled on the same post. How do I do that? If I am not seeing something simple, I apologize, I am having a ditzy day sorry. Thanks so much!
