Now for another vacation thread that literally no one asked for...

We start this journey off early Tuesday morning...

Around 4am in the morning, the airline informs me that my early flight being delayed! Which of course messes up my connecting flight.
So I spend the next 15 minutes fixing my connecting flight, cause apparently they automatically gave me a whole other stop!
After that I spent the better part of the rest of the hour trying to get back to sleep. 😒 So instead of getting in to New York at 2pm.
I was now arriving around 5pm! I stayed in a little airbnb apartment near East Village (Ukrainian Village). After settling in, it was time to start exploring the big city!
So figured, since it was on the way, I'd walk to Chinatown for supper. Had a delightful dinner of Gen Tso's chicken. Then ventured on to my primary goal of the afternoon...

Wow these are amazing pictures!
I would have asked about your holiday in the chatty room, so thanks for saving me the trouble 😀
Sucks about the flights. Great pictures! Thanks for sharing, its a far cry from my reality 😆

Great photos.

I would love to go to New York - if the flights weren't so damned long!

pretty decent seat!

Was sitting between a Rays fan & a family from Montreal in a sea of Yankee fans. What could possibly go wrong?
As a Guardians fan, I was The Swiss (neutral) in this situation. 😉 The Montreal family had a rather heavy french-ish accent
Not too mention stereotypically nice. After a few innings I was surprised at how cordial the banter was. Yeah I jinxed it. 😏
About 5 rows up some guy with his girl & kid were sitting enjoying the game when some rather unhappy woman accosted them.
Apparently the new girl was the baby mama & she had some kind of beef with the other woman.
So she loudly claimed her child whilst daring the other woman to join her outside.
Me & the Canadian next to me just chuckled uncomfortably. After they left (separately) we all got back to the game.
The Yankees defeated The visiting Rays rather handily with a final of 7-2. Then took the subway back to the apartment.

That first photo: WTF is that in the chair?!
I had planned to go to New York in 2021, but that didn't happen, thankfully we hadn't yet booked anything, but I might suggest we look at it again for my 40th instead of my mother's 60th. We'd do the Niagara Falls as well, but probably only the American side.

Do you think there would be enough to do there for a week, or would it be worth going somewhere else for a few days?

you MUST see the Canadian side!
If you get the chance, visit the Brill Building at 1619 Broadway on 49th Street. That is a building where you could get a room to write a song, get a publisher and a printer, cut a demo, get signed to a label, organize publicity and get the record out to radio, all without leaving the building. It operated during the swing era and early rock era and some of the notable artists such as Neil Diamond, Carole King and Neil Sedaka wrote music that put them on the charts there. Who knows? You could walk in as a visitor and walk out a star.

Actually that's kind of funny. Lots of people warned me about that & total rats seen in NYC: 0
However I seen a ton of flying rats aka pigeons! OMG - please send this city some hawks ASAP!

Thursday - Day 3 in NYC...

Got a bit of a late start that morning. Seen this on the subway...

Seriously WTF were they thinking? 😀

Missed the earlier cruise so figured have early lunch while I waited. Found a place about a block away.
Had my first slice of actual (in) New York style pizza. Was average. Didn't have high hopes going in as it was Greek inspired diner. 😉
Decided to take walk round the pier as I waited...

The cruise host was a hoot! Seems like some of the best views of the city & certain landmarks might be best seen via boat.
