I would never put season 6 as my favorite one, but I actually think it is one of the good seasons, although my take on it is a weird one, as always. Firstly I consider the musical episode to be one of the worst of the entire show - of all seasons. I finished watching it the first time with great effort - and only because 'it was Buffy'. I could not finish it the second time and had to fast-forward almost every time the musical number started. It was as if watching one's horrible nightmare come true on screen - then again I have particular sensitivity to off-tune singing and the nonsensical plot simply drove me up the wall. ( Especially the ending - with Xander being the culprit.) I do have to apologize in advance - but I saw a few other fans express the same reaction , so here we go. Btw - my dislike of OMWF has nothing to do with my shipping preferences. I dislike the moments with Anya singing in S7 with the same passion. Strangely enough, I love Joss dancing in Angel S2. Shrug. Go figure.
My favorite episodes of S6 are Bargaining p1,2 , Normal again, ... Enthropy and Seeing Red. Getting ready to be pelted with rotten fruit. But I actually loved the pay-off from all that buildup darkness. All the accumulated, pent-up anger and frustration had to be released in a burst of dark passions and it did... it sure did. The ending of the season was actually very cathartic - and my favorite moment was Buffy and Giles laughing together. The actual ending with Willow running amok and the yellow crayon speech was a let down after that.
