Better surrogate mother to Dawn? Tara or Buffy?

Xander was totally a parental figure to Dawn in S7. He and Buffy together played father/mother to Dawn, especially in the beginning of the season.

Argh, yeah you're right. I think I'm denial-y because Xander went from uncle-like buddy/teenage crush to parental figure to romantic interest. 😀

Aside from Tara, Xander has practically made his way round all the female scoobies:

Fancied Buffy
Had a thing with Willow
Had a relationship with Cordelia
Had sex with Faith
Had a relationship with Anya
Currently in a relationship with Dawn

You could even argue that Xander's love spell had Buffy, Jenny and Joyce lusting after him.

Xander really gets around the women in his social circle.

Was re-reading some season 10 this morning. Dawn says to Buffy that she was her parental figure after her mom died.

I guess at the end of the day, all the Scoobies are like family to each other. I guess the perfect example of that was in the episode Family, where Tara was pretty much told that she was part of the Scooby family.
