I use Tumblr solely to indulge my fangirly love for Anthony Head, and it seems like many of the folks I follow there are Biles shippers, and they're quite certain that Buffy and Giles exhibit romantic chemistry, etc., etc. I've responded mildly there, but I don't want to get into any fights. But every time they post a photo of Buffy and Giles and say "look at the sexual tension here," I'm like "the heck????"

You guys are pretty sheltered here if you're surprised to hear of Biles. (I don't believe Biles shippers call it that though ;D) Most of the vids on youtube portraying Buffy and Giles are shipper vids. Eurgh... It's so hard to find anything that is not AU. Thankfully some vidders label their vids AU so you can avoid them.
But Biles is also pretty common in fanfics. In fact, I went to a Giles centered fanfic archive once where there were fics of all different pairings. He was paired with almost every character and there were between 6 and 11 fanfics for each pairing. But there were 200 for B/G! It's the most prevalent ship involving Giles on fanfiction. net too, I believe.
It makes it very hard for us Giles fans who want to read a hawt fanfic with Giles but have to put up with this badly written, badly reasoned, bordering-on-incest fics.
But B/G isn't half as bad as some of the Harry Potter pairings I've encountered. Once you've seen the word "twincest", not much can surprise you.
Although the idea of Buffy/Giles disgusts me and I love their father/daughter dynamic better than any other relationship on the show, I have read a couple of B/G fics. Most are terrible. But I read one that I found to be very...sexy. But then I felt quite gross and guilty about liking it.

Yeah, I tried once to find some good Giles/Jenny fic. Or Giles/Joyce and I could barely see any through all the Biles stuff.
It was actually a little frustrating to me. I love Giles and really really wish there was more fic involving him in other pairings. 🙁

There is a SERIOUS shortage of Giles/Joyce fanfic on the internet. I read one really good one, but that's it. The others are average and few. And there are so many smexy possibilities for exploring that ship further...

Haha, me too! I actually read one that almost made the relationship believable. But then I felt dirty and gross.
YouTube, Tumblr, and fan fic are hotbeds of Biles. One person I follow on
Tumblr recently remarked that Giles' expression when he is tending to Buffy's face in Helpless, right after he was fired, was full of sexual tension. Huh? That's the most fatherly expression I believe I've ever seen on a man and I love that scene for that reason.
Maybe I'm weird but when I saw the first episodes of Buffy my first thought was that Giles' gonna love in Buffy. Maybe I should write a fanfick about it? Haha. No, I think that Giles and Buffy as couple would be really odd and senseless.
