Hey everyone,

I did a search and I was surprised that no one has actually started a Bones thread before, because I know there are many fans of the show here on BB. I thought I'd create a place for all of us to hang out 🙂

So, just to kick off the discussion - what do you make of season 6 so far? Because I have to say, so far I'm bloody disappointed. I used to love the quirky characters and the writing, but these days they literally make me cringe at almost every second line. It's not so much the whole Hannah/Booth thing that upsets me (I'm not that big of a B/B shipper.. I know we'll get there eventually and I like their little moments together, but I don't really need to see them at it), but more how HH and his crew of lunkheads have butchered all the other characters while they were desperately looking for storylines to help keep Brennan and Booth apart. It just riles me how they keep doing absolutely horrible things (Cam applying to colleges for her daughter? Sweets helping Daisy cheat at the psych evaluation? Hello?) and the writers selling that as totally normal or even cute (in Sweets'/Daisy's case). Also, the Hodgela pregnancy could be the sweetest thing ever, and the way it's shown just makes me want to heave ("I'm gonna be a DAD!").Yak.

Apparently, this week is gonna be a big one...
I saw the promo and it looks like Brennan finally tells Booth that she made a mistake when she turned him down in the 100th ep. But I also read somewhere that last week's ep was originally supposed to air this Thursday, so it seems like whether she tells him or not, there won't be any actual progress.
To tell you the truth, I'm almost done with this show, shirtless DB or no shirtless DB...

YOU HAVE TO MARK SPOILERS WITH SPOILERS!!!!!! I DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW BRENNAN TELLS HIM SHE MADE A MISTAKE! NOW THIS EPISODE IS RUINED! sorry, I'm a very anti-spoiler person. DARN! dlafjkdjfkladsjlfkajdfkldjakldsf Now how am I supposed to keep this from my sister who's quite possibly the biggest Bones fan and B/B shipper on the planet?!

I said "it looks like". The ep hasn't actually aired, that was all speculation ;)

I feel the opposite. I really like this season. It is not my favorite but I still think its very good. Im happy that there showing Cam and her daughter, Daisy and Sweets & Hodgins being so happy about being a dad. Thats really important. The show just cant thrive on Booth and Brennan's storyline. Im glad that they are showing insight to the other characters lives. All the characters are growing and its really important to see. Especially Brennan. She has come a long way from season 1 and I think the show still has a very funny & quirkiness to it.

I am a huge Booth & Brennan shipper. But at the moment I do like Booth and Hannah. I am happy to see Booth finally happy with someone. But I do want BB together in the end.

yay for liking Hannah hehe :D
I agree B, I really like this season a lot. And even though I love Booth/Brennan I really like Hannah/Booth and will be dissappointed when they break them up 🙁 I'm really hoping they'll do it without killing her. I have this bad feeling they might.

Also I can't wait for the baby lol 😀

I haven't minded the season so far. I like the Booth and Hannah pairing, I think they're sweet together and I like to see Booth happy. Brennan made it clear that she's not interested in Booth at the moment, so I'm glad that he has (for the moment) moved on. I also like that he was allowed to be paired with someone that is intelligent and a go-getter. She may not be Brennan, but at least she's not just some loser.

Sweets helping Daisy cheat on the test was pretty out of line, and in my opinion, out of character for Sweets.

Daisy is growing on me at least, she's not nearly as bad as she used to be, and the interaction between her and Bones is cute sometimes.

I don't really feel like the Angela-Hodgins-pregnancy story was overdone. It's just been a nice side story.

I am really glad someone started this Bones discussion because I love the show and been watching from the first season. Hannah is ok I really don't have strong feelings about her one way or another. I don't really see Hannah and Booth making it permanent. I really love B/B and how they have created the relationship between them in all of it's subtlety. 😀

I feel the need to break up this Booth/Hannah love that's going on here. I don't just not like Hannah because I ship BB. I don't like Hannah because she's rude. The biggest example I can give for that would be when Brennan saved Hannah's life a few episodes ago and Hannah was like "Where's my present? Give me your sunglasses." I was like "Bitch, she saved your life and you want a present? Isn't your life a present enough?!" I've re-watched a lot of the episodes in this season several times with my sister and it seems Hannah does rude things like that a lot. She's really self-centered and it bugs me. I'm happy Booth is happy, but honestly (and maybe it's the shipper in me), it feels like it's fake happiness. And I hate Hannah very much.

That kind of bugged me too about the present.

I don't hate Hannah or Hannah/Booth. So that part doesn't make me not like the season any less or more.😀 I'm still enjoying the new season.😀

I don't like Hannah either. I don't hate her and it's nice that Booth seems to be happy (but the way he's shutting Brennan out at the moment suggests that he is in MAJOR denial about something), but does his new woman have to be SUCH a Mary Sue? I mean, come on - she is independent, brave, smart, funny, Parker likes her, even Brennan is supposed to like her... seriously? Also, Parker's line about her sleeping with Booth was quite possibly the ickiest thing I have ever seen on telly. Unrealistic, too - makes me wonder if any of the writers actually have kids.

I've read
that a recurring character is going to be taken out by the sniper who will be this season's big bad and honest to god, I hope it's her but I don't really think it will. Also, it would kind of suck because as someone on TWOP said, it would ruin the fun of her running into Booth, Brennan and baby at the grocery store, circa season 8 =)

I didn't mean it was overdone, I meant it was totally butchered with horrible stereotyping and then left at the side to be picked up at random if the writers come up with more horrible ideas. Hodgins is so ickily sweet to Angela that it's giving me a toothache. And that is coming from the girl who turns into a squishy puddle every time she hears Angel say "Forever. That's the whole point."

I just started watching Bones (yeah, 6 seasons in, kinda stupid), so I really don't understand a lot of what's going on except that I enjoy it & I like listening to you guys discussing it. After I finish my Angel rewatch I'm going to attempt to go back to the beginning & catch up. From a newcomer I'll just say that Daisy is annoying.

I have no idea what your trying to say when you said "totally butchered with horrible stereotyping." Like what stereotype?

Plus "Hodgins is so ickily sweet to Angela that it's giving me a toothache." Why wouldnt he be sweet to her. They are married & expecting their first child. Thats a very exciting time in a couples relationship. They deserve to be happy. Would you prefer them to be gloom and doom?

I for one felt the pregnancy was so cliched. I mean when last season ended, I told my sister "Angela's going to come back pregnant." And she said "yep. It's a shame too, I hate pregnancy arcs." I also hate pregnancy arcs. They almost always suck. Angela's pregnancy arc is kind of just a side note in Bones so I'm ok with it. But it's still really cliched.

It doesn't surprise me but Angela did say she has always wanted lots of children and I would have felt it more cliched to go through the whole 'they desperately want a baby but can't get pregnant' storyline. It bored me stupid in sex and the city and friends and it's boring me stupid in HIMYM.

Oh god I know. They've got to get pregnant soon in HIMYM. They're starting to piss me off

I just meant that there is absolutely nothing original about it - Angela is pregnant, and Hodgins is thrilled. Yay, big deal. I mean I get it, they are happy and of course they deserve to be, but I'm beginning to get what Joss Whedon means when he says that happy couples don't make for good storylines. I don't want doom and gloom, but a few obstacles would be nice. They can be sweet to each other all they want, but they used to be funny while being sweet!

Weird though, I don't think Daisy's half bad. I quite like how she geeks out with Brennan 🙂

I want them to be happy and together, but I'd like to see them fight about something.
As a rule, I normally have issues with Bones. There is always a little bit of every episode that is mildy offensive. Although, I attribute that entirely to Hart Hanson being a poophead. Anyone who follows/followed him on twitter will know what I mean.

I feel the show drops the ball a lot. I mean last season Sweets cheated on Daisy and NOTHING was ever said about. And he cheated on her for Avatar tickets. I mean, COME ON.

I have a really long list of things like that that just drive me insane.

This season, I am not loving at all. I like Hannah and hate that a sassy, independent female character like that is just a pawn to a love story that has taken too long to even get off the ground. Bones isn't even remotely sympathetic anymore.

I'm just disappointed with the whole damn thing.

If DB didn't appear nekkid on a regular basis I would have given up the show. I don't care how shallow that is.

Oh yes. A while ago I read this blog post about HH and I agree with every single word.

That's what I meant by "horrible things" in my first post. I mentioned the psych test and the college applications that were filled out by Cam. I'm sure the latter will come up again, but I would put money on it just being a conflict between Cam and her daughter, along the lines of "Why did you do that behind my back", not in the sense of "Cam committed academic fraud and should face legal consequences".

Bones isn't even remotely sympathetic anymore.

The way she explains EVERY SINGLE social custom? Bloody annoying. But I've read theories that it's done deliberately and I'm kind of tempted to believe them (mostly because the alternative would be that the writers actually think what they're doing is ok and that would be just awful). Brennan has by now realised that she made a mistake by rejecting Booth, she is aware that she is in love with him but also that it's probably too late to tell him now, so she doesn't know how to behave around him anymore, which would explain her woodenness. Also, Booth's impatience with her might suggest that he's aware of it too. Either way, it doesn't make for pleasant viewing.

agreed.

I'm gonna go read that. Thanks!

Or how it isn't morally correct to send murderers to jail when it's your best friend's dad!

Or how Cam had to be turned into an imbecile in order to get the gang back together this season. SHE IS THE BOSS OF THEM. She is incredibly educated and good at her job, why couldn't she solve that murder? She didn't need Brennan. I just hate how everyone else is lessened in order to elevate Bones and make her "special".

I get that in away. She doesn't know how to act in "our" society so she retreats into that of other cultures. It's just that she so often shows signs of being more than familiar with our culture, especially pop culture. Wonder Woman? Seal? She is given way more slack then she deserves.

Yeah I understand what you are saying now. But I am happy about where Hodgins and Angela are at in their relationship. Everyone has their own opinions.

I agree with you on Daisy. Haha. I have always liked her lol but she can be a wee bit annoying and I really do like when her and Brennan geek out. Hahaha.

For the record - I like Booth's new girlfriend, like the two of them together, like how she gets along with Parker. Bones missed her chance - but I'm sure the writers of the show will disagree with me on that one.

I like Angela and Hodgins finally together, happy, and starting a family. It's awesome for them - and I think they add to the show more by doing their jobs than by their interactions with each other. Their storyline is done - they're together and ready to live happily ever after. They're part of the ensemble, but they don't add to the drama anymore. I'm okay with that.

I was going to say that it can be well-done if written well, & was going to use S&TC as an example but I guess that won't work here. 😉

I've only seen past season eps here and there, but from what I've seen, I think Brennan has Asperger's Syndrome. I thought that from the first time I saw her. Interestingly, I just read Reich's first book with the character, and she was nothing like that (although maybe it develops into that later). I have to say that I've seen past episodes that are pretty compelling, particularly the ones about her father (although don't ask me what season or episode- at some point I'll do a complete NetFlix watch). I haven't found any episodes this season that are that caliber.
