Bones: General Discussion

Oh wow, I had no idea she was pregnant. But- how far along is she?

The pregnancy was announced through her rep on 31 March, but they didn't say exactly when she was due except "later this year". I wonder if she's given up veganism for the duration of her pregnancy though as it can seriously harm a foetus...

I don't agree that veganism can seriously harm a fetus, although I do think a vegan has to be really careful to get the proper nutrients during her pregnancy. Some vegans probably do drop it during pregnancy simply for the face that some foods are intolerable to moms while pregnant.

mayfever agrees: not to start a debate about veganism here, but children on a vegan diet are proven to be at an increased risk for a B12 deficiency. They definitely need artificial supplements to make up for that. (BTW I'm a veggie)

Right, but it's doable. I'm not vegan or a vegetarian, but I can see that there's lots of good info online. I think you'd have to be careful with supplementing, but I don't see why you'd have to quit altogether. I could see someone choosing to add dairy & eggs to help, but there's no reason for meat consumption KWIM?

Just found this, looks interesting: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/veganpregnancy.htm

And look what I just did- took us waaaay off-track LOL! I'm doing a lot of that today!

Yes, I agree, it's doable, but it requires a lot of research and dedication. Esp the dairy is hard to replace, because of the calcium content needed for bone growth. BTW I know about that page, I have it saved under my favourites and often consult it about my personal diet, but I have read enough about theory of science to take the information offered with a grain of salt.

ANYWAY. I think we are actually agreeing about the whole thing (at least I can't find anything in your post that I disagree with), so we'd better let it rest now lol.

Back to topic... I don't think they'll let Brennan have a baby on the show. We don't know how far along she is, there's three more eps in this season and if the show is renewed (which is not at all certain at the moment, despite the "confidence" HH and the rest are currently showcasing) they might just come back later. Unless Emily decides to stay home with her kid, which is also a possibility I should think.

The finder episode really didn't sell me at all. It wasn't that the new characters weren't interesting - they were, I just felt cheated into watching something that was basically an hour long advert for a new show. Doctor Who very successfully manage to do episodes regularly (every season?) that centre around a whole different group of people, so it is possible for this to be done.

Something about it just seemed a bit to stereotypical as well, and SO similar to the characters in Burn Notice - the main character with a questionable past, trying to do the right thing, and working rogue, the 'sexy' female that is perfect for the lead, and the older, wiser character.

Basically - I watch Bones to see the Jeffersonian crew and that's what I want to see.

I honestly don't remember anything about the actual case, which is usually the most important thing about the show to me.

Yep, they've been shooting in Florida for a couple of months now.

I like the idea of the new show, I just don't see why it had to be a spinoff. As VG said, it doesn't really feel organic as it did with Buffy and Angel, because we've never seen these characters before and I don't think any of the Bones crew will be moving over to the new show (?). I just hope this season's weaknesses were due to the double challenge of shooting two shows at the same time, because at the moment it feels like Hart Hanson is pulling a Joss on us..
I actually don't think this season is that bad I mean the series is still pretty fresh to me it hasn't pulled a OTH or anything yet in my eyes.
This new episode reminded me of Dexter so much not the style but the locations I liked seeing that atmosphere.

I hope he isn't pulling a Joss.

Have her wear baggy clothes, only shoot her while sitting, hide behind handbags... the usual tricks I suppose.

I'm pretty certain that B&B is going to happen in this season final, because Bones still hasn't been renewed by the network.

I thought it was already said that the show was renewed? I thought I heard it already got the ok for the seventh season.

See I don't think they can get away with that from the fact of Bones is always moving and going out to do the cases it would be obvious they are trying to hide something so maybe they will put it in the storyline. Either way Bones would make a fantastic mother in my eyes especially from the reaction we see her get with the kids in past episodes. I remember season one I fell in love with her character because I saw a different side to her.

According to this website, the show "has yet to be officially renewed for 2011-12, but Hanson says he's "very confident" that will happen."

Everyone in Hollywood is always "very confident" until they are not, during this past season the ratings have dropped dramatically and a large part of the devoted fans have turned their backs on the show. I'm still watching (because I'm a sucker and love David) and I really hope they'll give us at least one more season to redeem themselves, but I'm not at all certain it will happen.

Oh ok my bad I saw a post about Bones getting renewed for two seasons. Not seventh.

Well I mean they always switched it for American Idol this if the first year they didn't it seems like. IMO they would be idiots to cancel Bones for the simple fact of half their new shows are already cancelled. I mean I don't know their rating system but sometimes I wish people just wouldn't go to fox.

I am not to worried at the moment if they say there is hope I believe it half my shows that got cancelled over the last year didn't even say that.

I read another article it was posted three months ago that negotiations were in talks for Bones and House? Has anyone heard anything on House yet?

haven't heard anything on House, but I've pretty much given up that show since the Huddy breakup. Don't think I'll start watching again.

Bones ratings have not dropped dramatically. They seem to be improving.

1st Season Averaged - 8.9 million
2nd Season Averaged - 9.40 million
3rd Season Averaged - 8.90 million
4th Season Averaged - 10.81 million
5th Season Averages - 10.20 million
6th Season is still To Be Announced.

I meant in season 6. A lot of former hardcore fans have completely given up watching.
I'm so happy Bones got renewed 😀 I haven't been crazy about this season but I feel its been getting better each episode.

That is good news. Now they have another season and hopefully to make this coming one better than the start of S6. I wasn't extremely worried; I do know that good shows get canceled before their time. 🙂

Michael Clarke Duncan is in the spin off so I'll give it a try for sure. As for the episode itself it felt very mixed. Some things I likes and some things just got boring.

So, you guys know that I'm currently watching the whole series on Netflix. I just finished season 3. I was trying to stay spoiler-free as much as possible, but I did read that
Zack was Gorgmogon's apprentice
. So, I've been kind of watching for that, waiting for that reveal, and looking for signs along the way. I didn't really see any, except that
the person who killed the lobbyist looked kind of like him, but that scene was so fast (& terrifying!) that it was hard to tell for sure
. But I'm still unsure about Zack's motivation in all this.
He was impressed by the Gormogon's logic, & supposedly the Gormogon was able to manipulate him because of Zack's "weaker personality". But we hadn't really seen any hints in Zack's worldview beforehand, even with his talks with Hodgins. Hodgins was the likely suspect, what with all his conspiracy theories. And when exactly did Gormogon approach Zack?
It just seems so vague, and I don't know if maybe more will be revealed in seasons 4 and 5, although I know that after The Pain in the Heart he only reappears a few times. Anyway, I do think it was an interesting (& unexpected, at least if I hadn't read it beforehand lol) development. I think everyone felt so protective of him, like a little brother or son, because of his social ineptitude. It was so heartbreaking for everyone.

That was the saddest thing to me the storyline broke my heart.
OK, so you guys mean to tell me that no one wants to talk about tonight's episode?! I am dying over here! So,
did they or didn't they? That scene was great, but so frustrating! I wanted more!
So sad about
Vincent's death. But I have to say that I'm relieved that it wasn't Hodgins, Angela or Sweets. Is it terrible to say that I wouldn't have been too broken up if it was Cam? Although I think that would've hit them all harder.
I did love that last scene, very cool & touching.

My thoughts on this week's episode:
I'm going to go with no, they didn't have sex. But they spent the night in each others' arms and it was really incredibly romantic and sweet. It resembles the Spuffy Touched night in my head. And I'm glad she took his arm at the end. Kind of made me feel like what happened that night wasn't just a fluke to either of them. I hope next week we get a conversation about it.

Vincent's death had me crying like a baby. He's my favorite intern. I love him as much as I loved Zach. Why is it that something's happened to both of my favorite interns? I mean first Zach got put away (never to be spoken of again, which really pisses me off) and then Vincent dies?? I don't want to get attached to another one like I was attached to those two. I was glad it wasn't Hodgins, Angela, or Sweets. I had heard someone was going to die, but all the people who spoiled me on that fact kept saying it was going to be one of those three. A lot of people said Sweets. I'm SO glad they were wrong. I'm also super glad Booth caught Brodsky.

Tonights episode was sad but as long as it wasn't
sweets I am good. I have a serious soft spot for him and having watched Freaks and Geeks made it stronger. Poor Vincent I really did love him he was adorable and the way he kept saying he loved the place is what made it so darn heartbreaking. I can't explain how sad it was to see Bones crying as well anytime she gets emotional I do. The way they were spitting out the facts got me to because I loved how he would do that and then when he told all his friends he slept with all the ladies he was adorable.

I don't think
they slept together I think they just did what they showed "slept together" which to me is way more romantic or just fits more than them having sex. I actually really adored that scene it was beautiful. Emily and David have always had some good chemistry.

I can't wait to do my re-watch I missed this show.
