Boris Johnson aide jailed over child porn - Exclusive

Even though nothing about this situation is remotely funny, I burst out laughing at this:
Perny agrees: That some mighty fine cheese

LOL I'm not sure why I was so amused by that, but I love you, Perny!

Am I the only person who can't stop thinking about this?

:[

No, definitely not. I keep thinking about the fact that most of the people he was "close" with were our younger female members and the ones of us with children or young nieces and nephews. It makes my skin crawl and my blood boil. In most cases, I hope that people like him can get the help they need. But in Al's case, because he clearly was preying on me and my friends here, I just hope he gets the crap beat out of him day after day while he's in prison. Everything he said now I know was a lie, and I see now how calculating he was to be able to win over those of us who thought he was our friend.
When I first came here, I hated him with a passion. I thought he was rude, arrogant, and way too mean and I even lobbied to get him banned. We got into it back in the day (can't even remember what it was) and I stood up to him and for some reason he decided then that he wanted to be friends. It took some time, but eventually I let my guard down and thought he and I were pretty close. Now I can't help but think that everything he did was just another step to get in so he could have access to my kids. And of course I don't know that for sure, but as a mom, can't you see why I believe that way?
At any rate, I have no sympathy for Al. I get the feeling from reading some posts or karma comments that some people here may feel a little bad for him knowing how hard his life is going to be from now on. Well I don't, and I never will. Maybe I'm a bitch, but I have no sympathy for him or any bad that will happen to him in his life. In fact, I think he deserves anything he gets as a result of this. Because he is a sick son of a bitch.

I doubt anyone here will be trully sad if we hear that he got raped to death in prison. I wouldn't trully love the idea, because we' not monsters, but I wouldn't exactly be unhappy...
I agree Brittany. I don't feel sorry for him either. Downloading child porn supports the exploitation of children. Anyone with a brain knows its wrong. He did it anyway. I agree with who ever said earliar that his worst punishment for this won't be is time in jail, it will be the shunning from his friends as a result of this ...and the damage it will do to his acting career. I don't feel sorry for him, but I'm sorry he did it, if that makes sense.

You know, I guess it's cause I'm from the U.S. but I had no idea that Al was a "celebrity" in the U.K. I didn't know he'd ever been on TV or anything til this story broke.

He's really not. He was on one of the first reality TV shows, but that was long before the people that went on these shows were made "famous".
Since I really haven't posted on here for a long time, and yesterday was my first day back, finding this thread was quite surprising. I'm not sure if that was the same Alister I had a problem with back when I was on here all the time or not, so I'm not going to say anything from that stand point.

But I will say that something like this just makes me more disillusioned about people. I'm normally a very optimistic person, but just a few months ago, I found out that one of my two best guy friends was on the sex offender registry for sexual abuse of an 8 year old girl. It had happened before I met him, but I was still horrified. At the time, we had stopped speaking because he had gotten violent towards me and a mutual friend was the one that told me about it. Of course, I was skeptical at first, knowing my friend's penchant for joking. I didn't think it was a very nice thing to joke about, but I wanted to know. So I looked it up and sure enough, he was there, with a current picture and his offense and arrest right on the page. He was a minor at the time too, so he didn't get a huge sentence, but he was still plenty old enough for it to sickeningly wrong.

It wasn't even one of those things where it was just an 'indecency charge', which you can get if you're even publicly naked in front of people. I know how people feel about this seeing how he was always with me and I have a little sister who is just now 16, and he had known her since she was 8 or 9. I've had to really work at overcoming what I felt was a personal betrayal of trust since then.

I've been really helped by the fact that I'm almost done with psych degree and will getting my LPC soon. Learning about people like that, and how to deal with it, really has worked for me.

I just want to say this so that people understand that I know how they feel. My sympathy and heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy, especially the children in the videos.

It was probably the same Alister, honey. We only had one. :(
Am I the only person who can't stop thinking about this?

:[

You're totally not. Some of my co-workers/classmates were looking for conferences to submit papers to and they found one in London on Internet culture and all I could think was, "I don't think I want to go to London and talk about the Internet right now. It's too soon."

Buffy Summers agrees: Oh hey did you go to Radford? I know someone who went there too lol

Yes, indeed, I did. That's where I finished my bachelor's degree, got my master's degree, and did that horrible year of teaching. I'm glad to be away. 🙂

To be totally personal (not something I regularly do online), I haven't told 1 of my real life friends about this, because the connection between me and a person like this, or me and a message boards that discuss a TV show, that this type of person is connected to is hard. But it it the members on here, and the other staff members on here that help with this, reading your responses to this are so encouraging, and so helpful, that it makes me remember why these boards and this show are so important in my life! And I truly, and I really mean truly, hope others feel the same way."

I haven't told any of my real life friends either, i just feel weird them knowing I was friends with someone like that. I was actually scared when I found out the TV programme was on channel 5 its a channel we watch a lot of and they could possibly watch it. And since my sister spoke to Al and he boasted about being on Castaway she would have possibly recognised him, I wouldn't want her asking questions. I just worry people would think less of me or something which is stupid.

Believe me, I know how you feel. But you have to remember, that you're not guilty by association in no way, shape or form. Never let anyone tell you that you are, or make you feel bad about it. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, you had no way of knowing that. People can't expect you to be psychic, or even do a thorough background check on every single person you talk to. You don't have any reason to feel guilty about it, ever. 🙂

I know :), I wish I could be psychic sometimes though.
It's sad to hear how much this has effected people and how much trust has been betrayed, but it is nice to see how all the board staff and members step up to help out and just to listen - it truly makes me happy that I came back here.

I'm still angry over what happened. I don't like been played and his crimes makes me sick, and him trying to be supportive and understanding to people who have gone through so much, really annoys me- when he is supporting an industry that makes children suffer. That allows children to be tortured. The mention of children screaming in the videos he watched chills me to the bone.
I watched the episode of Vice Squad and couldn't help but wonder, would he have had to give them permission to film him, or was it something that was allowed to be made public because of the seriousness of the crime?
Knowing that he was on TV, has his name listed on casting sites and was interested in pursuing a TV career - if he signed off on this, it really pisses me off, almost like it was one more shot at getting on TV.
I was pretty late in finding out that he had been on Cataway, and I didn't much care - I'm not a reality TV show fan. A few friends of mine had seen the show.
Unlike many on here, I have no problem telling that I knew him, that we talked, and that I considered him a friend. I've mentioned it to a few friends, and to be quite honest if I could make it public knowledge, I would. When it comes to the disgusting crimes he committed, I'm all about the name and shame.
Personally I don't mind people knowing that I knew him, because anyone who knows me also knows that this is the one crime I can't forgive. It's children. Innocence forced to do these depraved things so scum like him can get their jollies.
Nope, to hell with being quiet. I want people to know that scum like him exist.

For some reason this made it worse for me. I can't help but think that even at his lowest moment he still managed to gain publicity for himself, he still managed to work an angle. I didn't believe it was possible that I could think less of him but this Vice Squad thing proved me wrong.

This has remained on my mind as well. I don't feel guilty for having spoken with him exactly, so that's not the reason. I don't know....maybe I just feel kind of stupid for having defended him on multiple occasions around here....

Right there with you.
He and I used to frequently argue a lot, so I haven't spoken to him in years. However, I did have to message the mods on this site (with some prompting by Killerdwarf) in regards to some of the things he had been saying to an (at the time 14 year old boy). He was making very sexual comments to me and would often talk to me and another ex member, BilleHunter, about other inappropriet topics, IE: telling me is favorite fantasies are rape fantasies. So this isn't a shock to me at all, really. I'm glad they put him in jail. LIke the article says, if you download that kind of material it's like saying it's ok - and it's not. Hopefully he can get the help he needs in jail.

---------- Post added at 10:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------

Sorry for the double posting. My first post was very hostile, and after re-reading it, I just wanted to extend my support to those who feel effected in some way by this. When my grandma died of cancer last year I went into serious depression. Until one day my cousin told me "the cancer already took her, don't let it take you too." That can be applied here. When you feel scared, betrayed, and sickened... it's this person's way of ruining you too. We don't know how many lives Alister has ruined himself, or supported the ruining of. You have every right to feel the emotions you do. But he could possibly have contributed to many young girl's lives being runied. Don't let him have an effect on yours as well. Stay strong. Stay positive. This whole thing makes me sick, that's why my first post was so weird. I read someone's post about "video's of 5 year old girls screaming while being raped" was just too much for me to handle. It turned my stomach. There are some things in the world that should just not be allowed.

I love the second part of your post, and for the first part I can only offer some lame e-hugs, but the thought is there. x

Well, let's use this as a lesson for others: don't let months go by and THEN bring it to my attention, when the evidence has been long deleted.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if someone is making inappropriate comments anywhere on the board - even in private messages - talk to me or anyone else on staff immediately. Like was done in Hero's case, your name can be left completely out of it. No one other than me will have to know.

Those kind of comments - wanted or unwanted - should not be made on the board. Please don't put up with it!

What the Buck?! I seriously overlooked this thread, and I haven't even read all of the comments -- but this is shocking! I remember months ago getting into a heated argument with him in a child pornography thread (a lot of members did), and I mean I thought he was kind of a jerk and looking back, it's kind of the epitome of irony? He did however PM me to tell me that there wasn't any animosity, so I brushed off all the rude comments and didn't think anymore about it. And I couldn't even read all of this article because it's disgusting, I don't harbor any bad feelings to him personally, but that type of person. Wow. Checkmate, dude.

but England is wack. Six months? He seriously needs to be in there for life. This is very sickening.

To be fair, the people who filmed and took part in the child pornography should be the ones who get the book thrown at them.

There is a big difference between watching and participating. Both are disgusting, but one found pleasure in watching and the other got his/her kicks by harming children and putting these families through hell.

I guess my point is that one can be potentially reformed while the other doesn't deserve to be... Although I too believe six months is too short of a punishment.

Plus, when he's released in 6 months its not like he'l go back to a nice little life. He'l have no friends, no opportunities etc...
