Brexit and Boris

Well that was a laugh and a half, I started to read the news.sky.com and a pop up filled the screen, it had in bold writing at the top the word Privacy. Those pop up's when you click on the "I accept", it may have access to your computer so I cease the piece completely. You might think the "I accept" might refer to the item, but nothing is stated in writing.
So I then went to amp.theguardian.com which had a headline of,
Jewish Chronicle and Jewish News to close and staff laid off.
A name was written underneath so I took it that he, Jim Waterman Media Editor, was responsible for what was written.
As it states - to close- that indicates 'it' will happen in the near or distant future.
Then it states - and staff laid off - that being written in that manner indicates something of past tense. Future tense and past tense in the same headline? A new Media Editor should be acquired, no wonder the Jewish Chronicle and the Jewish News were/are/will be closed.

As for Tommy Robinson he has never been arrested or charged for anything to do with racism
And I can only say what I saw , and it was nothing like the lies that channel four news reported , no police in riot gear, no police fighting with Brexiteers it was all peaceful......maybe it was those looney lefty's venting their anger on the police for diverting the march away from their pre arranged ambushes? Whatever did or did not happen that evening it had nothing to do with the Brexit rally or Tommy Robinson

I find it hard to understand how someone with your experiences can be ok with someone who has a philosophy that preaches superiority and oppression of minorities. I profoundly disagree with your views and won't let them sit there unchallenged. That too is an aspect of free speech. I've heard of the police having to stop far right groups disrupting peaceful anti-Brexit protests from a guy who was there.
If I had my way this board would leave off politics - it's very divisive and has actually driven away people from the LGBT+ community because some of the views expressed are toxic to them. If you want as many people here as possible that's not good. I know isn't not a 'safe space' but it's supposed to be a fandom site first and foremost and allowing it to be something else as well undermines that. I also love the comprehensive nature of it as a fan site and that it has so much traffic and it's layout. I think there are lots of places you can engage in political debate but this is unique as a fan site.

I think people can handle divisions in fandom however contested far more because they're not real life but if someone says something that attacks your or your offline friend's indentity that's personal.

Also far right groups inflitrate fan sites to sow division and indoctrinate people. Ways that clamp down on this are good. If you really want to voice your political views or troll there are other places for that.

I haven't seen anyone on this board or in this thread attacking you or your friends identity.

Far left groups also do plenty of infiltration and indoctrination.

The one that seems to be "sowing division" in this thread is you.

You have been told repeatedly about not making things personal, yet you have gone back to an old post, not for the first time, to deliberately be negative towards Dora. You have shown that you cannot hold a civil conversation with them, so once again, can you please consider putting them on ignore. Since you are unable to discuss this in a calm, uninsulting, unpersonal manner we have decided to give you a thread ban. Please consider how you post in future.
 
Folks, we MUST stop this "You disagree with me so you are a [insert group]ist." way of thinking. That is not how discourse and debate works. It has to end, for the good of everyone.

Now if anyone cares to cast their eye over the BBC website you'll notice complete radio silence. Aside from counting the human cost of Conservative malice and incompetence there's no other news and they still can't find space to report that we're essentially living in a one party state.
 
@nightshade @Buffy Summers - I suggest you check out The Guardian's website (no conflict of interest in the recommendation). It's generally considered the most reliable and truthful of the UK papers. It does have a bias towards the liberal left and (it should be said) it's not fond of Trump but I wouldn't say it's anti-American. It's been running 24/7 coverage of the virus both nationally and internationally for weeks now and trying to be - I think - as objective as it can (more bias in the articles). Don't bother with any of the other UK papers - the Telegraph's become the Torygraph and both it and The Times have a paywall. The others - I wouldn't use to wrap chips even if I could. But yeah...99% COVID-19
