Economics isn't my strong point but my guts saying 3. Boris might find "F*** Business" becomes his epitaph. According to the Common's Library (2018), the financial services sector contributed £132 billion to the UK economy, 6.9% of total economic output. Half of this was generated in London. Fishing has big symbolic value but accounts for just 0.1%. We'll see... At the moment there's this weird idea of selling Welsh Lamb to China because the UK's closer to China than New Zealand is. This is true but only by plane...We'll probably have the only lamb that accrues air miles.

BMW - if the tariffs are high, they can take production out of the UK to the Netherlands. Nissan might also be a worry for both the UK and the EU. Maybe they'll re-introduce the Austin Allegro 😱...or make us all drive Morgans. 😎

It doesnt affect BMW as they already produce in multiple countries. They said it would be cost prohibitive to try to open and start a brand new Mini factory so it's production is not being moved. They are just waiting.

Which is the point. The EU supported the UK's claim on Gibraltar but now that the UK decided to leave, the EU is now siding with Spain. It's like the old "You're not doing what I want so I'm not going to be your friend anymore!"

According to Fullfact, we're in the top 3 (behind France and Germany) but I think that's based on an earlier budget. The UK is one of the biggest contributors to the EU budget

Germany is heading for a recession so the EU were probably expecting the UK to pick up the slack, only that now won't be happening.

I think there will be rough patches ahead but in the long run the UK is better off out of the EU (especially in its current incarnation).

As of 2018, the UK contributed approximately 8.93 billion to the EU budget and received 8.52 billion back.

I don't think it was because of Brexit - there's a transition period until the end of the year. The airport had a training session and it slowed procedures down. However it seems he thought it was. Bit of a stupid tweet to put out when his previous one was celebrating Brexit. Plus - he hates cyclists so he might regret getting through immigration.
 
Why does he hate cyclists? Is that a London thing?

No...it's an idiot thing whereby cyclist equates with "snowflake" I think. His other tweets are disparaging remarks about people who aren't straight white men. Oh and one describing how he celebrated Brexit (which is the reason Twitter ripped into him).
 
There has long been a 'damned cyclists thing', in several countries of the world, that became a thing as the number of people using bicycles on the road was a problem. When handle bars copied the racing handle bars and folk would weave side to side
usually when going up a rise, going across the road, becoming a danger to other road users. Then they rode around two and three abreast, at speeds slower than road speed once again causing problems for other road users.
Motorcycles / scooters travelled at normal road speeds and so were not a problem.

In fairness as someone who lives in London the problem is two fold. One there's an utter lack of cycle paths unlike say as Paris where there's even one on the main road leading to the Arc d'Truimph and area around the back of the Louvre. This means cyclists either take their chances with the cars which is dangerous for them and frustrating for the car drivers who have to pass them in a city where other car drivers bleep them if they don't drive past enough.

The other factor is some cyclists do I'm afraid earn the snowflake rep - they think red lights don't apply to them and I've almost been mown down as a pedestrian at least once because of it. Because of problem one - you do get cyclists on pavements which isn't great for pedestrians. Some cyclists are rude to inline skaters too. Any inline skate teacher has stories of cyclists ploughing past them and squashing the cones they use and in one cases this was a group of kids playing a game on skates that got ploughed through.

That said #not all cyclists - I know a couple of cyclists who got knocked off their bikes. One had an arm in plaster for several months.

I'm annoyed, I was told I could get an £80 fine if I didn't register for the electoral roll. I shouldn't have to be made to go on it if I don't want to!
