I understand that BMW will be cutting off production of the Mini soon due to uncertainties about whether it can be exported to EU countries without crippling excise taxes. This reminds me of the simplification of the four laws of thermodynamics:
1. You can't win.
2. You can't even break even.
3. Things are going to get worse before they get better.
4. Who says things are going to get better?
What is surprising is that the value of the pound sterling has not fluctuated all that much and the London stock exchange is not doing that badly... yet.
I don't know much about the Gibraltar situation but I did read the EU supported the UK's claims before Spain joined.
Not according to the BBC. Based on the 2017 budget Germany, with a net contribution of €12.8bn, was the largest contributor, followed by the UK, with €7.43bn (£6.55bn). In terms of per person: The largest net contributor to the EU budget per capita is the Netherlands, followed by Sweden, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom in fifth place, with €112.85 in 2017 . EU budget: Who pays most in and who gets most back?
According to Fullfact, we're in the top 3 (behind France and Germany) but I think that's based on an earlier budget. The UK is one of the biggest contributors to the EU budget
As of 2018, the UK contributed approximately 8.93 billion to the EU budget and received 8.52 billion back.
Which I'd expect them to do. The clues in the word "Union".Which is the point. The EU supported the UK's claim on Gibraltar but now that the UK decided to leave, the EU is now siding with Spain. It's like the old "You're not doing what I want so I'm not going to be your friend anymore!"
Yes...as are 9 other countries. There's never been a question about that.So we're putting in more than we get back.
I don't know how much of that delay is due to Brexit or not.
I don't think it was because of Brexit - there's a transition period until the end of the year. The airport had a training session and it slowed procedures down. However it seems he thought it was. Bit of a stupid tweet to put out when his previous one was celebrating Brexit. Plus - he hates cyclists so he might regret getting through immigration.I don't know how much of that delay is due to Brexit or not.
Trying to get back in this country was REALLY tough.
has all the borders freaking out.![]()
No...it's an idiot thing whereby cyclist equates with "snowflake" I think. His other tweets are disparaging remarks about people who aren't straight white men. Oh and one describing how he celebrated Brexit (which is the reason Twitter ripped into him). Why does he hate cyclists? Is that a London thing?

If Britain had proportional representation, the remain parties could form a majority government. I don't get your Spike analogy. The Scoobies aren't run by seniority.
