Who agrees that Buffy is a greater show then Angel and why ...

Better character development better plots and better standard of epsiode and a better quality of eps. EX: hush, the body, the gift ECT.
why do you think buffy was the greater show ...

I actually prefer Angel over Buffy due in large part to the milieu of the show. Furthermore, it seemed more (as those shows go) realistic than Buffy.

Angel is somewhat darker and more adult than Buffy. But I love both shows.
I've always prefered Buffy to Angel. Not much but still sure of my choice. But now as I'm rewatching the shows after finishing Buffy season 3 I turned my attention to Angel. I know I should watch one episode Buffy followed by one episode of Angel but I'm too lazy. So I still haven't started season 4 of Buffy but am halfway through season 2 of Angel. Not sure if that's a sign that I've changed my mind or not. Will have to think it over once I've finished both shows again.

I have to agree. I prefer Angel over Buffy but thats not to say Buffy was not a great show, it rocked🙂

Same here. I LOVE Buffy, like, seriously love it but to me Angel is at least the same if not a teensy bit better.
I prefer Angel over Buffy as well, I just got a whole lot more enjoyment out of nearly every episode. Compared to alot of random, not every good Buffy episodes.

you are easily pleased , not good eps on buffy , you got to be joking !
Buffy is much better because it got better every season while Angel was a wave for me cause I really only like S1, S2, Faith arc, & S5

I agree with you aswell buffy is way better :)
Yeah, I prefer Buffy over Angel.

Buffy is just more fun to watch. I love how it's written.
In Angel, when someone knows there are more to be said you have the usual "but...". In Buffy we get a "you got a but face". I miss those things in Angel.

I also prefer the friendship that you see in BtVS.
To me the scoobies seems to be much more genuine friends than the group in Angel.

I agree. Angel/Wes/Cordy never had what the Scoobies had. don't get me wrong, they were awesome together, but it just wasn't as awesome. (Now moments like when Wes/Cordy were making fun of Angel and Buffy come to mind) :)
Buffy's wayyyyy better to me, because even though I've only seen up to season 2 of angel, it hasn't interested me like any season of Buffy has. I guess it's probably because I find Angel (the character) really boring. It seems like he's the vampire seeking redemption, and that's it. The only episodes I really liked were Hero, I Will Remember You, Sanctuary, and Shroud of Rahmon.

Yeah, Angels' def my least favorite character of the whole series.
Personally, I prefer Angel to Buffy as well. It's been stated since Angel's inception by reviewers, fans, and even the Buffyverse writers that the tone was intended to be more mature. Don't get me wrong: Buffy was great and Angel obviously owes its entire existence to the parent show, but I think its spin-off outstripped it in terms of creativity, maturity, and the ability to capture my interest.

It might even come down to sheer gender dynamic: two separate protagonists. Buffy was intended to make a statement about strong, independent women, appealing to a specific gender. It was also a metaphor for high school. Angel was a show featuring a brooding man and the metaphor for the dangers and choices one finds in life. The setting itself is different: even though Sunnydale is a Hellmouth, there can be no question that Los Angeles is far larger and more dangerous.

To me, Angel explored the concepts of corruption, self-destruction, and redemption to an extent far greater than its parent series.

Not to mention the simple fact that I find Angel to be the most complex and interesting character in the mythos. While he may not have the immediate appeal of someone like Spike, there can be no question that there are more facets to him. This is a character who represents the ultimate in flawed heroism, deep sacrifice and, on the flipside, ultimate evil. So for his humorous foil, Spike, we see that Angel -- at his best -- is better than Spike and -- at his worst -- more dangerous than Spike.

Not to mention that Angel chose to redeem himself and was not bound by duty or obligation.

More interesting, in my opinion.

Seriously, this question again?!!!🙂 It's the endless debate, just like Scoobies versus Angel's gang!!! Well, at first I felt impulsively defensive for Angel, but then I realized that my true answer was Buffy. Maybe, mostly because I felt a dedication to Buffy's characters long before Angel's. Angel is just a different show. It's darker and explores different themes. I do think the Scoobies are more solid than Angel Investigations as friends. Mainly because everyone in AI comes from such different places and stories. Some have already won battles on their own. They didn't grow up together in Sunnydale....Plus, Angel leads a life of death as a vampire with a soul who really doesn't want to have to depend on anyone. At least Buffy can have a musical!

but it does not even compare to Buffy
I agree; you cannot compare the two- thematically they are wholly different. It is like trying to compare ST:TNG to DS9. They are two different shows for two vastly different purposes.

GREAT analogy... there's so many layers on which one could argue Buffy ~ TNG, Angel ~ DS9 - if one is into Trek at all!
I personally prefer Buffy- I was able to get into that show a lot more than Angel. But that doesn't mean that I didn't love Angel or that I thought Buffy was a better show. Their styles and story arc themes are too different to be completely comparable, it's just I always felt more.....connected I suppose, to the characters in BtVS than to the ones in Angel. Even I do love them just as much- I mean Angel was the reason for the existance of Fred people!

I like the Buffy movie best.
Better music, real Valley Girls, cramps as a spidey-sense, Pike makes a better Spike, Pee-Wee Herman and Nexus 6 and no Xander or Willow.
What's not to love?

Wow, this is a really tough one!
I grew up with Buffy and I must say that from the first episode, I was utterly hooked! I've only recently watched the "Angel" series, and, while I wasn't in love with it right away, it certainly grew on me. Maybe a few weeks ago, I would've gone with "Buffy", but, I have my doubts now. I do like more the darker feel "Angel" has.
I think that, although, they have some elements in common, they're still very different and provide different type of entertainment. In my opinion, Buffy deals more with the whole process of growing up, while "Angel" deals with what happens next, the grown up life. And now, I can relate to both. Since, I tend to personalize every movie/ tv series I watch, this is very important to me. Maybe this is way it's so hard for me to choose. In my head, it's like choosing between the "old me" and the "new" one. :blushy:
I had this entire speech in my head, before I started typing. But, seeing as my dog is out of patience, I must bring this rant to an end. And I must, say, that, right now, it's a tie. They both have their high points and low ones. But, man! What a ride they both were! Oh, now, I want to watch them again! *sigh

ukkid09 agrees: redemption wow everbody going through it 🙂

It's certainly far more interesting than someone who kills demons because she has to.

Choice > predisposition.

buffy is way better and so much funnier , angel just bouring

Angel had more than its fair share of hilarity. That was the brilliance: it was occasionally dark humor. Sometimes even silly humor, which gave it an impressive contrast to the atmosphere.

But if I want strict comedy, I'll watch something other than a show with vampires.

Yeah but Buffy sacrifice her Friends and herself to do her duty ,a bloody true champion. We see faith go threw redemption, spike , willow and Anya so i got allot more character to relate redemptions.

Redemption. My next door neighbors going threw it we see redemption every day but we don't see a true hero like Buffy.

You see similar sacrifice from Angel, Wesley, and even Cordelia.

If you want to get technical, sacrifice is about as common a theme as redemption.

We see faith go threw redemption, spike , willow and Anya so i got allot more character to relate redemptions.

Not to the extent that Angel has. He signed away his Shanshu in order to fight a battle that couldn't be won against all-powerful evil. He altered time and reality to give his son and Buffy each a better life. One of those times, he made a pact with the devil to do it.

Compared to that, Willow and Anya's redemption is essentially "Man, I feel crappy about what I did."

Redemption. My next door neighbors going threw it we see redemption every day but we don't see a true hero like Buffy.

Buffy is a true hero. I never disagreed. But so is Angel.
