Buffy and the Scoobies

I think that comparing their reaction to that and Xander's motives are two entirely different entities. The fact of the matter is he saw them making out and knew that if it had gone any further, more of his friends would die. The slayer has a responsibility for the protection of the world, sans warm fuzzy feelings for a vampire. She should be on a pedestal of constant watchfulness especially if her honey is the guy that killed a lot of the class. Was jealousy involved? Of course! Xander's a guy with a jones for a hot chick and he'll use any means to make the other guy look bad, but in this case, it was warranted. It just happened to work in his favor. I'm sure his motive was more for not dying than high school jealousy.

My thoughts exactly, although I've never really looked at Xander as being a hypocrite. I've related to him so much in this very sense--Buffy's the hero, and when she wavers it's hard not to get possesive/defensive over her actions.

Plus, Buffy means much more to Xander than just being "the Slayer" or "the hero". They're pals, and Xander looked like he really needed that at the beginning of the series. So did Willow.

Despite the fact that Xander and Willow had each other, having another person enter a friendship changes things for the better (I know, I've been there). It's reassuring to know that there's someone else out there that thinks like you, and when they go off base or they do something that you don't like, it's kind of hard not to take it personally and get subjective and mean.
 
well...from the very beginning of the season("Anne", "dead man's party") i felt really annoyed about the Scoobies' attitude towards Buffy...yeah she is the slayer...she is strong...but she is a human...a 17 year-old girl who killed the love of her life to save the world,she was kicked out of her house...
but they were kind of distant and Xander...oh my God XANDER!!!so offensive against Buffy...and i am certain he was still jealous of her relationship with Angel...
in "dead man's party" i felt so sorry for poor Buffy...i was like "come on you guys!just give her a chance"... and in Revelations...everyone gathered in the library ready to judge her!Angelus did horrible things...but Buffy was not kissing Angelus,she was kissing Angel and she hid the fact that he was back because she wanted to find the right time!
I just don't remember Buffy being jugdemental of her friends...
 
I think that wasn't right, what they did. And that was not their first or last time. They are always judging her, they never look at her decisions and just accept them because they are hers. And she had a good reason for hiding him, as we see in the next scene when they found out that he is alive. It just bugs me because she never judge them. She never said anything when Willow didn't told her about her little romance with Xander, or when Xander left Anya..
 
Well, obviously Xander was both jealous and scared when he saw Buffy and Angel kiss in the crypt. I understand how wrong he could have taken it(since he had no idea what happened before that moment). But then, I didn't like how instead of going in and talking directly to Buffy about it, he just went and told everybody else. I thought that was both cheap and chicken of him =x And then when she comes in the library, he stand up and start arguing with her because the others are there to back him up. Again he brings up Jenny's death, which is another cheap way to get to Buffy since he knows she felt really bad about it, blaming herself.

This is the second time I thought he had earned a good punch in the face.

As for Giles reaction at the end of the scene though, I thought it was touching. Giles was never really mad at Buffy, never felt like she hurt him except this time. It's true that Angelus had tortured him and killed his love, and you can sympathize much more with Giles feelings than Xander's ones. There was no bad intentions behind his words, he was just hurt. And you can see it touched Buffy too, she didn't argue or got mad at him like with Xander.
 
Again, this is just them putting Buffy on a pedestal like others have mentioned. If Buffy does something wrong, it's like the worst thing in the world.
