So, after all the envy I obtained reading the London meet up thread, I decided that next year (because I feel its too late for this year) we need a US meet up. Any takers? Time, place?

I think it's a neat idea and all, but America is really far away for a lot of is. It's better when we keep it in England, cos it's kinda central, and it's easier to go there

It's easier for the European members but we have alot of American members too and an American meet-up is obviously far more managable for them.

I don't know what I will be doing next year but if I can swing it I might try and pop in. I was planning on visiting my friends in Boston so anywhere around the New England/New York area would be handy.

(The same thing could be said for England by those of us who live on this side of the Atlantic ocean.)

Yeah, it would be fun to meet all the people behind the names. Of course, a lot would depend on finances at the time, but I think that it would be great.

I was acutally thinking more in the middle of the country...because people from TX or CA might not be able to make it to NYC. Unless of course we did one west coast and one east coast?

You might find NYC is cheaper than the middle of the country, even from CA
New York would be perfect for me. I'm sorry but I'm not trying to travel to the middle of the country for a meet-up.

St. Louis, MO? Been there so I know there's plenty to do.

Edit:

Maybe two meet ups would be better? We can skype them...

I vote middle...just so I can avoid you! LOL

Seriously though...whatever happens I'll see what I can do.

An excuse for another pilgrimage to the Alamo! I've been trying to talk my family into that for years! Great. And so fitting. (not very many people realize that Santa Anna was actually a werewolf)

Seriously, you might take a poll and see where the most interested people live, then plan the location.

Yeah, splitting up for two meets on either coast would probably be better and have more people show up for that. As opposed to having one meet in the middle of country

Travelling for me would be very hard. Seraphim's in law school, and after that is the bar and OTC.

Sooo. I'm up for meeting in LA. (sw) and by LA I mean the Hellmouth, not Louisiana. 😉

I live in Illinois and I've been trying to get to LA for MONTHS. This is a much better excuse to go than the one I had before...

So, yea, I'm down for LA. Question, though: would we be able to bring non-BBers to this hootenanny? I ask because I feel safer traveling to some place I've never been before with someone else, and I don't really know a lot of the boarders in my area. If someone near or about Chicago is willing to travel with me then everything is copacetic. 😀

We'd have to see. I'll be in Nashville at the end of this year, and then working on my doctorate. I'm not sure I'd be able to leave, and REALLY not sure I'd be able (or want to) go to L.A.

Silly, of COURSE you'd want to go to L.A. Don't you want to see me?!? (sw)
Even though I don't have much time to be around the boards these days, I'd still love to go to one of these... problem is I wouldn't be able to do anything outside the northeast area, with college and lack of funds, etc.

Yeh, it would have to be at least in summer 2010 for me, cause I'm just starting college in the fall. Though, I may have a summer job at a camp by that time so.. I may not be able to anyway. Also, trying out for American Idol at the end of summer (maybe?) so I might be in LA next spring anyway! 🙂

Best of luck to you!
What about Chicago? It's got a lot to do, and it's about as centralized as we'd be able to manage....and as a bonus, it wouldn't take me that long to get there!
