No it would have been a bad thing. I don't want to see Tara as evil. That would have been to unbearable. The only way I would have watched that and not gone out and murdered Joss would be if he'd brought Tara back to life in Chosen like he'd wanted to.

It would of been horrible to see The first as Tara of course, but I still would have loved to see it 😀
To see some sort of interaction between Willow and Tara in season 7 would of been nice, even if it was only The First pretending to be her.

That was HORRIBLY sad. So very curshing, but so, so beautiful. THAT is the way it should have happened. The quality of 'Conversations...' was taken down for me because of the scene with Cassie. We had no connection to her character, Willow had no connection to her character. She was in one episode, and that was it. Never mentioned again. Because of it being Cassie, the entire scene just seemed a bit..Cold, to me. Empty. They were going for gut-wrenching and haunting, but with the scene that was shot and aired, they did not deliver.
 
Cassie may well of only appeared in 1 episode before this episode, but I fought she was perfect to be the one to interact with Willow. Very powerful and unforgetable scenes.

Just watched this. I love it all, but Buffy-Holden the best. Buffy seems like a terribly nice, natural person in this ep. You almost forget how beautiful she is.
 
One thing I don't understand is whether there was an actual demon that Dawn had to defeat or if all that stuff was *also* the First. Any theories, or knowledge concerning this?
 
I love this episode, its really great!
Dawn was really good in this episode, and it was very cool and creepy seeing Joyce/the first. This episode also meant that (despite her character being dead for 2 seasons) Kristine Sutherland appeared in every season of BTVS.
I also liked watching Buffy talking to Holden, that was interesting; and I liked how Holden was saying how he went to high school with Buffy, that was a nice touch 🙂 And when they mentioned Buffy's old boyfriend Scott, I was like "Oh yeah!!! I remember that guy!!" LOL
The only real downer for me was having Cassie instead of Tara. But maybe Alyson Hannigan's amazing acting here almost made up for it. I wouldn't have really liked to see Tara is an evil position, but it was just like "wth?? why isn't Tara here herself? That's the logical thing!" I tried to think of some excuse (although I do know that the reason that Amber Benson didn't appear was because she didn't want to.)
The excuse that I thought of is "Seeing Tara would have Willow want to talk about so many things in depth (like Willow killing Warren and stuff) with Tara that the First would have gotten impatient." Its a lame excuse, but its all I've got. 🙂
 
This is the kind of stuff I hate to find out after the fact, that Joss wanted Amber Benson but she refused. This cheapens a great ep for me, because it was not really the vision of the writer. It's reasons like this that make me agree with people that the show should have ended after Season 5, although in the end I'm still quite thankful for all the Buffy that we got. I know it sounds like I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth, but hopefully people understand what I mean.
 
It's funny, I really hated this episode the first time I watched it. I found it incredibly boring and just didn't really care about Cassie or Holden or any of the conversations. The second time though, I adored it. I found Dawn's scenes with "Joyce" incredibly unnerving and, quite frankly, I was actually really freaked out (something that almost never happens, especially in tv). Now it's probably one of my favourite episodes of season 7. And yes, Dawn's anchovy song is pretty damn awesome.
 
Il be honest Im going to rewatch this later as I think its one of the two eps Iv only watched once as it scared the bejebus out of me lol

I remember thinking 'oh how tacky that they are tryin to get around the fact that Amber Benson obviously didnt want to do it' but iv read stuff recently and i can see why Amber didnt want Tara to be seen evil..i think it would of just made me really go 'oh god poor willow' it would have broken my heart seein her face but for people that didnt really get the first thing so much maybe Amber was worried people would think Tara was saying the stuff..i dont know..part of me is quite glad she wasnt there as it would have left me with that last image of Tara..eating her own face..lol
 
I think the Buffy-Holden scenes are absolutely brilliant. They are some of my favorite scenes in the entire Buffyverse.

And it is one of the scarier episodes, along with Fear Itself.
 
just re watched yer they are great scenes with Buffy...forgot how funny they were 😀
i appreciated Dawn alot more too this time round. especially her anchovie song 😀
