THE YOKO FACTOR
The Good;
Love the fact that when the argument starts Tara and Anya head to the bathroom, they have a few scenes like this together through the series, the newcomers to the Scooby gang bonding. Miss Kitty is the cutest ever. Lovely to see Angel and Buffy make up.
The Bad;
Spike can't even hold a fake gun without getting pain, so how come he's able to get his shotgun out in season 5?
Best line;
Buffy; "Xander? Oh he's the deadest man in deadonia!"
Women good/men bad;
Buffy refer to Riley and Angel suffering from 'testosterone poisoning'.
Jeez!;
Poor Forrest gets skewered.
Kinky dinky;
Anya declares Xander a 'Viking in the sack'. As she is from medieval Sweden that's quite a compliment and once again suggests she enjoys rough/exotic sex (as we'll see later with Spike). Xander used to work at a telephone sex line.
Calling Captain Subtext;
Xander used to work at a telephone sex line. You know I've never seen one advertised for straight women, was this a gay sex line? Willow refers to Tara as her girlfriend for the first time. Spike twigs Will/Tara long before Xander/Giles do. Wicca is once more used as a term for lesbianism. Buffy asks Forrest if the Initiative is a 'boys club'. Spike seems to have a high opinion of Buffy. Willow talks of doing 'drama' which foreshadows Restless. Willow refers to the umbilical chord between Xander and Anya, jealousy rising.
Guantanamo Bay;
The demons are starting to rip one another apart and the Colonel really doesn't care.
Scoobies to the ER;
Where's Dawn?

Questions and observations;
Lovely to see Angel back, lovely to see his reconcilliation with Buffy. Sorry Spuffers BuffyandAngel4ever. Angel can defeat Riley in single combat, even with all Riley's hi-tech gear. Xander's famous big mouth makes another appearance. In later seasons this role will be taken over by Dawn. Adam likes 'Helter Skelter' which is the Beatles song Charles Manson cited for the motivation for his infamous massacre. Riley refers to Angel as 'Mr Billowy-Coat King of Pain' and thinks girls like that. More than Gary Cooper in camoflauge actually. Spike is 100% right of course, what makes Buffy different and more successful than all the other Slayers is that she has her friends and family around her.
Marks out of 10; 6/10

Oh, Angel is back. So that is a big plus for the episode. I don't like the plot that much.

I loved the scene with Bangel and Riley in the same room. I like your fav quote by mine is by Angel "You actually sleep with this guy".

I laughed so hard.

10/10 but just because Angel is back 🙂

yay for Angel. And then I also liked the fact that Riley thinks Angel is evil so Buffy must have slept with him again.

I liked when both Buffy and Angel start laughing when they are out in the hall.
I always love any jealous/petty stuff between the male characters. I don't know why but it always amuses me. So I liked this episode, the Riley/Angel stuff. Angel has such a childish side, it's very amusing. I almost expected him to stick his tongue out at Riley when she took him out in the hallway after Riley refused to leave her room.

childish? more like a jerk maybe

Me too, especially when it's over Buffy.

Angel sticking his tongue out at Riley would have been funny to see indeed.
I don't see how Angel was being jerkish or childish, that was all Riley. He started the fight in the alley and it was pretty stubborn of him refusing to leave the room.

But, I might just be seeing it that way because I hate Riley and I'm all for Bangel 😛

Regardless, this episode was good. Nice to see Angel back. Not my favorite episode, but definitely not my least favorite. I'll agree with your rating of 6 🙂

I don't wanna be evil here, but Angel kicking Riley's ass is what I expected to see in this season!!!Sweet Angelic boy is back!just to apologise for talking in a bad way to Buffy!
''you actually sleep with this guy'' lmao at riley. Also Spike can hold a gun, Just cant point it at someone. Which in Fool for love he realises it will hurt like hell for about two hours.

Angel *totally* has a childish side! If you love him you have to love all of him, don'tcha? You see it in this episode with Riley; you see it a lot in season 5 of Angel once Spike appears. You see it in Buffy season 7. "I started it. the whole having a soul thing, before it was all the cool new thing." All with that adorable petulant look on his face. It's part of his charm, IMO. It always cracks me up when he acts like that. It's my 2nd-favorite Angel mode (my favorite is Angelus; my least favorite is Serious, Broody Angel).

I always love him when he is acring like a little boy.But then, IMO all men have a little sweet childish boy inside them!
Angel is hilarious when he starts acting like he did with Riley in this episode! That's a part of him we never saw before in BtVS(but we do see it in Angel at least).

The scene at Giles house is probably one of the most memorable from the whole series to me! I like how they just let everything out at that moment and the funny bits like Giles throwing his clothes down on Xander HAHAHA!

It wasn't really a big shock seeing Riley go to Adam though. They were referred to as 'brothers' before.

I liked Giles's "Bloody Hell!" upon hearing about Tara and Willow. It was just dropped in, which was amusing.

Angel beating the crap out of Riley was outrageously satisfying. And I think Angel pretty much summed up the whole season for me... "Oh, and Riley? I don't like him."
😀

Drunk Giles. XD
Why did Riley think Angel lost his soul? He was defending himself. 😕 It was an amusing misunderstanding though.

I love Giles. I love Drunk Giles as well. Stuff like "I am no Alfred, sir. No, you forget. Alfred had a job." and when he laughed his ass off at "Fort Dix". So when he's drunk off his rear he turns into a 12 year old? 😀

Great episode. Just watched it and i love the bit where Angel grins at Riley when he and Buffy go to talk outside. Might sound like a small insignificant moment but i love it :biggrin3:

Any episode with Angel adds just that bit more intrique and this isn't an exception.

I agree! that smile, that look!
This episode was so funny.

Giles: I am no Alfred, sir. No, you forget. Alfred had a job

Giles: You don't train with me anymore. Adam is going to kick your ass!

Spike didn't feel pain with the toy gun until it was aimed at a human.

I have so much LOVE for what Buffy said in that confrontation scene with the Scoobies. Buffy lecturing people is always made of win for me. They didn't really *want* to help so much as want Buffy to want them to help. They liked being the sidekicks but wanted to have the praise and spotlight of the superhero boss.

BUFFY: Enough! All I know is you want to help, right? Be part of the team?
WILLOW: (unison) I don't know anymore.
XANDER: (unison) Really not wanted.
BUFFY: No! No, you said you wanted to go. So let's go! All of us. We'll walk into that cave with you two attacking me and the funny drunk drooling on my shoe! Hey! Hey, maybe that's the secret way of killing Adam?!
XANDER: Buffy . . .
BUFFY: Is that it? Is that how you can help? (a beat) You're not answering me!

Buffy was really showing her Slayer strength when she shoved Angel and Riley. "Okay, that's enough! I see one more display of testosterone poisoning and I will personally put you both in the hospital! (challengingly) Anybody think I'm exaggerating?" And Angel starts saying "he started it" but shuts up off of her look. ha ha

It was really sweet of Angel to say that he didn't like Riley since it was a universal ex thing. A way of saying "I am jealous" and therefore letting them know you still have feelings for them. Buffy needed to know that Angel still loved her. She feared that he was falling out of love with her in Sanctuary and that is one of the reasons she was so hurt and why she told him about Riley in the first place.

I really loved Riley in this episode. I think Marc Blucas was at his best late S4. Xander tells him the sordid details of how Angel lost his soul (which Buffy left out) while Buffy is in Los Angeles. Of course he would say "she went running off to LA to bone up on her history". He has to wear Xander's dorky clothes until he gets his soldier gear back. And then when she returns she doesn't come to see him. Instead she lays down on her bed melancholy over her fight with Angel. He hears what sounds like his men getting attacked and it turns out to be by Angel. He knows that Angel drove two hours out of his way to see Buffy, who at this time, is Riley's girlfriend. And then she leaves the room to speak with Angel alone in what he probably thought was a lover's spat. Buffy had to tell Riley that Forrest was killed by Adam. It was so heartbreaking when he said "If you're gonna break my heart, do it fast".

I am very glad Angel comes back and says all these words. It clearly shows one thing.Angel will always be waiting for her!
I liked how Angel beat up Riley, but I think him coming all the way to Sunnydale to apologize was alittle bit weird, I'd rather have him come there to kiss Buffy and have Riley walk in when they're smooching lol! But I love the Bangel moment at the end when Angel told Buffy that he didn't like Riley!

I liked when Angel beat up Riley too. Angel coming to Sunnydale to kiss Buffy would have been a wonderful Bangel moment. At least we got the Angel jealousy. The fact that Angel doesn't like Riley tells me that Angel still loves Buffy.

I like Angel beat the crap out of Riley!:) lol! Anyway, I would like to see a bangel kiss but Angel knows his limits and Buffy also does.
Why did Riley think Angel lost his soul? He was defending himself. 😕 It was an amusing misunderstanding though.

Why did Riley think Angel lost his soul?
Most likely because Xander told Riley all about the time Angel was evil in season 2 and what triggered it. When Buffy went to LA Riley assumed that she had slept with him given him that moment of true happiness and so lost his soul. And Angel was fighting Riley when he had heard that Angel was peaceful.

Also Spike can hold a gun, Just cant point it at someone. Which in Fool for love he realises it will hurt like hell for about two hours.

I was always under the impression he could point a gun at someone as long as his intentions weren't to fire at them.

Just like in Fool for Love when he's 'fighting' Buffy; he says he can throw punches at/attack her because he knows she'll most likely dodge them or whatever. Been a while since I've seen that episode, so I can't remember exactly what he said.

Episode Rating: 7/10
Simply because I love drunk Giles 😛

Speaking of tongue if you notice Angel does something with his tongue sometimes when he flicks it in and out real quick. In he and Buffy's first face to face meeting Angel when he says "I didn't say I was yours" after buffy says maybe she doesn't want a friend.

I like this episode :giggle:

I watched again and again the scene in which Giles sings home and then he sees Spike...the super-womenish scream he makes is just soooooo funny! :giggle:

Spike was bloody marvellous in this episode!

Oh, and for people wondering why Riley thinks Angel lost his soul...it often happens!
In Pangs, when she sees him, the first thing Willow says is "Oh my god, you're evil again!" and he says "No I'm not, why does everybody think that? :dramaqueen:"
And at a moment, Anya says: "What is he like when he IS evil? :tongue3:"
I think it's just because of his attitude :tongue3:

And YES, he is very childish, I mean, have you seen his face when Buffy told him to go outside with her? He was totally na-na-na-na-ing at Riley!:tongue3:

Drunk Giles was...Something we should see more often!

Finally, something that always got my attention: when Spike lies to Willow, Tara says "You should talk to Buffy about it, I'm sure she didn't..." But Willow didn't pay that much attention, too busy believing Spike!
But I love how Tara was so sure Buffy never meant that! It's like she was the only one that was not really dupe...like she was the one that noticed Buffy wasn't herself in Who are you?, even tough she was meeting her for the first time.
It's sometimes like she knew Buffy better than her own friends!
