The Good;
If you have tears in your heart please prepare to shed them now, terrific performances from AH and SG. Spike is also fantastic.
The Bad;
The werewolf makeup hasn't any got any better.

Best line;

Buffy nails another vamp. Oz kills Veruca

Oz tranqulised again whilst Spike get's zapped by the Initiative.

No but Oz and Veruca have cage sex.

Oz and Spike although he's not a Scooby for another couple of seasons.
Women good/men bad;
Actually here we actually have 2 females fighting over their man. Note Willow can't go through with her spell. Willow asks Xander for some advice from the Y side of things but may regret it as he defines love as either 'Wild-monkey-love' or 'Tender-Sarah Machachlan love' (who provides some of the musisc for the series).
Jeez!;
Kinky dinky;
Werewolf sex! Plenty of backscratching there! Veruca even says 'I like it rough'. Also Veruca parading around in a black lace bra and Willow attempting to dress more rock chick. Xander's mum won't let him put a lock on the door in case he starts having 'The sex'. Too late! Even Giles considers Veruca 'Quite striking' as indeed does Xander to judge by his expression. Xander thinks there are only 7 minutes a year where a guy isn't thinking about sex. Buffy is sure that Oz is 'flogging and punishing himself'. Oz blushes behind the ears when he's attracted to someone.
Calling Captain Subtext;
The scene with the speaker discussion is so laden with subtext, it might as well be Jane Austen, Willow feeling she's being frozen out. Buffy later tells Willow she loves her.
Guantanamo Bay;
Scoobies to the ER;
Where's Dawn?
You wonder what Dawn's attitude to Oz was?
Questions and observations;
Goodbye to Oz as a regular character which is a shame as he was terrific, he's sorely missed. But it does leave room for Tara. Buffy seems to be doing well in class, once again she's more than some superpowered bimbo. Is the stuff in Xander's basement salvaged from the vamp's house from 'The Freshman'? Oddly Prof Walsh doesn't recognise werewolves when she sees them. Giles' watches ganeshows rather than PBS. All the Scoobies at one time or another have walked in on their beloved whilst they were cheating except for Giles who walked in on Jenny when she was dead. Buffy has often been accused of constantly falling for diversionary tactics but here she figures out Veruca's ruse.

I hate Veruca. I once created a thread voicing my hate for her.

A sad episode. Poor Will. 🙁 Buffy was a good friend though, she was so sweet to her.

I love this episode, but in the same time I hate it. I hate Veruca. There is no Willow/Oz relathionship anymore. I know back then I felt how all mine favourite 'ships are getting cut off, and I was so sad. But it's a good ep, so 9/10
 
This episode is such a tear-jerker. I've always felt more sorry for Oz than I did Willow. Obviously I felt bad for her and it was awful, but I've always 'cried' more for Oz, and him leaving than anything else.

I'm not a bad person, honest! 😉
 
I think the attraction between Oz and Verruca is very primal, very animal, it's not the strong emotional love that Willow and Oz have
 
I thought this episode was very well written. But, I love all episodes Willow-centered. I thought it was a better way to write out Oz than just killing him off. I also appreciated how awkward Willow was. When she was holding Oz's hand and trying to talk to him at the beginning when he's watching Veruca in the Bronze was just heartbreaking. The same applies to when she tries to join in their conversation and when she tries to make with the rocker grrl.

Funnily enough, I didn't cry during this episode. Which is really weird because I cried when watching some of the least cry-worthy episodes (Intervention, Dead Man's Party...). I always loved Oz, but I guess I didn't really love their relationship, maybe? And I knew that Tara would be coming (I got a whole host of spoilers.), which made me happier.

All in all, a good episode. Not the best, but good.
 
So very sad, Willow/Oz is my second favorite ship. I loved them together. Makes me cry, as all other emotional BtVS moments do.

I actually think she just doesn't say werewolves because she doesn't wanna raise doubts about what she really knows(and you can see Riley is in it too).

As for the episode, each time I watch this I can't believe how much Willow cry during it. Alyson Hannigan did a damn amazing job because it felt like she was crying for real every time! Haven't seen many actors or actresses make me feel that way in a show or movie.

I felt really bad for Oz when she called him a jerk, you see it really hurted him coming from Willow and that's pretty well acted too from Seth Green.

I didn't hate Veruca. But it's not a memorable character either. I'd have liked some background story about her though!

It sucks Seth Green had to leave the show. Would have been fun seeing Oz in the later seasons. Where he would fit and all.

On the commentary, Joss and them are talking about how good she is at that. The first time she had to cry on screen, every member of the cast tried to comfort her and she was just like, "Jeez! Haven't you heard of acting??"

I felt sorry for Willow when Oz 'abandoned' her at the table with Veruka. She looked so awkward. Bad Oz, poor Willow, lol.
I liked Oz's coat though.
 
I lose it like 3 times in this episode. The first being when Willow finds Oz & Veruca, the 2nd being when Buffy is holding Willow & the 3rd being when Oz leaves of course. The crazy thing is that I do get where Veruca was coming from. She has given into the animal inside which inspired my username btw but sometimes when you do that, you can end up not being a very good person.
 
Very sad ep. I love the Buffy/Willow dynamic in the episode, they're always there for each other. Poor Xander, with Oz's departure he is truly surrounded by women. Having been raised by my mother and my 2 sisters I can empathize.

Well he has Giles and he'll soon have Riley. And being surrounded by hotties musn't be too hard on him:smile3:
 
i actually cried when Oz left Willow...i was about 15 years old at the time.

dont know many 15 years guys that would cry at the TV lol

infact the only other time i 'cried' at Buffy was when Oz again in 'New Moon Rising'

I seriously hate Veruca. She's so mean to Willow, and she practically has sex with the microphone, plus her attitude toward killing humans. And that thing she does with her neck! What the heck is that?! I'm glad they killed her. There, I said it.

I agree with whoever said they were most sad about seeing Oz/Seth Green leave the show. This re-watching, I am sooo appreciating his humor, I will definitely miss that. This is a great episode- see, season 4 isn't all bad! 😉

I hope I'm not boring you guys with this, but I'm reading a transcript of the DVD commentary (which is hilarious! I'm sure moreso in auditory form- it has Joss, Marti and Seth). Anyway, Seth said he had huge tattoos and had to do a big job covering him up for all the naked scenes.

Oh, and this has me ROFL:
Joss: Oh, I forgot about this where you go and scare Maggie....

Seth: Here's an interesting piece of history, though. Lindsay Crouse played my mother in an after school special when I was 10.

Marti: Huh. And now you're going to eat her.

Seth: Isn't that funny? And now I'm going to eat her.

Ugh... such a good episode, but so awful at the same time. Veruca is just awful, and I'm not sure I even like the actress that plays her. And poor Willow. Oz is a total jerk in this episode... well, not entirely, but he was definitely lacking the common sense.

I remember watching one of the episodes with the DVD commentary and Joss had said that when Aly makes sad eyes, the whole world cries. So true here... the moment she saw Oz, I lost it.
