Buffy wanting to kill Anya

I think it brings up an intersted point, or a point of view on things. I also agree that Buffy just seemed so determined to kill Anya off. The group is typically about helping people. Its clear to the Scoobies that there are many shades of gray in the Buffyverse. It almost seems as if there was a double agenda behind Buffy's attitude, although I don't think one is ever shown.

What I think is intersting is that Buffy protected Spike, while he was a vampire almost all along while Xander was quick to judge Spike, and look down upon Buffy over Spike. On the other end, Xander wanted to protect Anya while Buffy was quick to slay Anya. The two both seem to be contracting people, and they allowed emotions to get in the way. Buffy said she had changed, and would even allow Dawn to die for the greater good, but would still protect Spike to the death. She picked and choosed her battles, and this even shows her love to Spike, in some sort of way, though she constantly seemed to deny it.

Well I see you already collected important facts.

I always just figured that Buffy was still hacked off at Anya for fraking Spike on the internet. Buffy doesn't like to share her toys.

, Buffy must have decided that she must sometimes be cold and seem ruthless to get the job done.

I don't think Anya & Buffy were as close as people think; I think their relationship was stretched at the very least.

When Angel lost his soul she was so hesitant and indecisive which resulted in the death of Jenny, Kendra, and injury to her friends. I figure this time around, she wanted to do it right, before anyone she loved had to suffer.

And I think this is the main reason... there was Jonathan, Angel, Faith and Willow, firstly good friends later biggest enemies! These experiences were so hard for her, she didn't want to do the same mistake again. She saw that Anja becomes evil again...she returned into the revenge buissnes and she wanted to stop her before she can damage others. And so the fight was easier for her, if she just see the evil Anjanka, she forgett more and more the old friend Anja!

But what bothers me is the fact that she's so determined, even though Anya was her friend (pretty much), she was her bridesmaid, they fought side by side against evil. And Buffy doesn't even consider other options.

I thought the same thing and all in all I think the idea, the storyline in generall I think was pretty good, to let Buffy and Anja fight against each other. But there were so many points that dispointed me! Of course the Buffy-straight-against-the-wall-oppinion. But the end of the episode was so sad too! I wished there could be a big big huge between Xander and Anja! But nothing happened! And I wished Xander would have showed some more strengh to save Anja against Buffy!

You have watched The Wish, I presume? How did Giles do it back then? Simple, he just grabbed it in the struggle with Anya. Same way Buffy took the Gem of Amara from Spike. Not exactly a complicated method.

But, that wouldn't necessarily incapacitate her for any longer than she could convince D'Hoffryn to replace it...then she could likely become a direct threat to Buffy...?

I never thought that Buffy WANTED to have to kill Anya, but that she had definitely always known that it was a possibility that Anya would resume her role as a V.D.

Also, when it comes to Buffy, choice has a big role in her mind...so Anya actively choosing to become something that she already has complete knowledge of increases her "badness."

I F'ing hated that episode!

She hadn't in season 7 been Buffy's enemy, in fact she'd still helped them, so you'd think Buffy would try find out other ways first.

I mean its not like Willow is pretty much the most powerful witch around right, (sarcasm) its not like she almost ended the world and makes things happen just by thinking them!!! Man if the girl can re-ensoul a vampire and almost end the world, I'm sure she can come up with some kinda spell for Anya.

Not to mention Considering they often research the MAJOR things before just going on the immediate attack, you'd think they'd do that.

The episode was badly written, but sometimes Buffy is badly written toward her friends, such as her lack of real concern when Giles said that they were going to extract Willow's powers and it may kill her...I know Willow was outta control and hyped up on bad magicks, but Buffy was laughing about things a minute after finding out her friend may die. Then of course ignoring her history with Anya, to go off and kill her without hesitation. I also remember her getting really pissed off at Xander when he went off at her for keeping Angel being alive from them...I mean the guy had killed off alot of people and shes getting angry at Xander for wanting Angel dead. It shows the level of importance her friends have

Sometimes I think that Spike and Angel were the only two that Buffy really went to extremes to protect and really cared for...although she wavered on Dawn at times. She truly was an odd slayer
