Buffyisms: You can work into a conversation

Here's a collection of Buffy terms from this thread and elsewhere, along with instructions how to use them.

**Buffy Terms**

* Oogy--Buffy: 'Cause I'm not well. Uh, I feel all oogy.
Xander: Increased ooginess. That's a danger signal

* "the ubersuck": major bummer -Buffy, "Inca Mummy Girl"

* pathetic much?": feeling sorry for yourself?

* "backseat mothering": unsolicited advice from a non-parent -Buffy, "Bad Eggs

*research mode: time to hit the books

* Resolve face: Willow: There's no use arguing with me. Do you see my resolve face? You've seen it before. You know what it means--The Becoming 2

* Love's Bitch; a slave to love--Lover's Walk

* To Scully (to inist on the logical conclusion, such as Scully from X Files might do) Buffy to Giles I cannot believe that you, of all people, are trying to Scully me.

* Spadoinkle: (comes from 'The Gift'. Its when they see the big tower that Glory's minions have built for Dawn's sacrifice and the only word Xander can think of to describe it is 'spadoinkle),

* Yak urine shots: A disgusting drink--Potential

* Gnome. (used to explain to explain something you don't want to explain. eg. if someone should ask who drank all the milk, you say "Sid the wily dairy gnome" like Buffy did in living conditions.)

* Major suckface: (as in "Wasn't that you going major suckface on teen vamp last Hallow'een? From Lessons)

* Great googly woogly(Moogly or Oogly will also do. Only the oogle sound is mandatory): When something spooks you. Xander says it the first time Willow speaks to him telepathically

* Great, merciful Zeus: When something amazes you. Xander says it in Once more with feeling when he discovers he and Buffy have both been enchanted by the music spell.

* Love's Bitch: in Lover's Walk Spike says "At least I know I'm love's bitch"

* Ick Factor: used to describe something that disgusts you. Eg. Rather than tell someone there nose is running, tell them it's developing an ich factor.

* Bitca: Bitch

* Bee-like: busy.

*"the cryptic": mysterious, secretive behavior, as in,"cut the cryptic, Angel. You're scaring me." - Buffy, "The Prom"

* "the grim" : sullen faces

* Mom hair: a hairs-style that makes a woman look older--Lessons

* Yak (means vomit) --Xander: You're not gonna yak on me, are ya?

* Butt-monkey: someone easily taken advantage of by others

* poseable: In Same time Same Place Anya chuckles to discover Dawn has been frozen and is now poseable. (I use this when I find a woman hot)

* Fluffy bunny feelings--In Welcome to the Hellmouth Buffy claims she doesn't have fluffy bunny feelings towards vampires.

* dump-o-gram": kiss-off - Cordy, "Revelations"

* "Clothes fluke": kiss resulting from formal wear -Xander, "Homecoming

* The Zeppo: the useless part of the group--The Zeppo

* Fray-adjacent: hiding.--The Zeppo

* Posh crypt: nice place.

* nest of vamps: collection of evil-doers.

* Magiks: occurences only explainable by magic.

* Kiss Slut: Don't know exactly what this is, but Dawn says, she's not one.--All the Way

* Non yellow crayon stories. (From The Killer in Me. It describes a story you know about a person, you don't want to say out loud, because it will embarrass them)--The Killer in Me

* research mode: time to hit the books

* "otherwhere" or "someplace that's away": elsewhere (as in "Don't you have an otherwhere to be)

*"pathetic much?": feeling sorry for yourself?

* "power-freaked": maxi-wigged

* "messed': out of sorts

* "having 'ors'": considering options

* "geeker joy": nerdy happiness

* High functioning schizophrenic: Insanity with power (Potential)

* insane troll logic: something that could only make sense to a crazy person.

* sexual bribery: bribing someone with sex.--Showtime

* Viking in the sack: Good in bed

* orgasm friend: crossing the line from friendship into sex. Eg. She says, "We're just friends". You say, "Yeah, your orgasm friend".


* Frog fear: Willow uses it to describe "fear of frogs", but it's cute when it means fear of anything eg frog fear of public speaking.

Oh, and kiss slut, means she who kisses everybody. like a regular slut, but only with kisses...
 
"overbite"~another term for a vampire (aka bloodsucker)

"Hospital Zone"~Place where there is no singing - Killed by Death

"Flowers"~another name for balloons. If you stick them in water, they might grow.

"Tact"~Just not saying true stuff - Cordy

"Watch her back"~euphemism for 'looking at her butt'

"to Bogart"~to hoard - as in "Your mom's tryin' to Bogart the cheesy chips. What's that all about?"

"font of nothing"~someone who has nothing to contribute

"The Earth is doomed!"~literally translates as - "more than 7 more years of being continuously saved!"

Add "age":
Almost any word can have the ending "age" tacked onto the end of it.
EXAMPLES: "Thus freeing us up for world savage."
"Willow kissage!"
"Any sparkage?"

Nouning: Turning words from adjatives into nouns.
EXAMPLES: "Love makes you do the wacky!"
"Stop with the cryptic, you're scaring me!"
"It gives me a happy!"

People: Use people (or fictional characters) who have specific personality traits to point out these traits in others.
EXAMPLES: "I can't believe you, of all people, are trying to Scully me!"
"My eyes are hazel, Helen Keller."
"Calm may work for Locutus of Borg here, but I'm
freaked out and I intend to stay that way!"

Wake up and smell the ...: Most effective when referring to dating.
EXAMPLES: "You can't spend the rest of your life waiting for Xander
to wake up and smell the hottie!"
"Wake up and smell the seduction!"

... much?: Use this to insult/point out problems people are having.
EXAMPLES: "Okay, overidentify much?"
"Pathetic much?"

Changing endings: Changing the endings on a word has interesting results.
EXAMPLES: Giles: Punishing yourself like this is pointless. Buffy:
it's entirely pointy!
"This could be mathier!"

Breaking words: Similar results can be had by breaking words into pieces.
EXAMPLES: Giles: I'm quite flummoxed. Buffy: What's the flum?
Buffy: How do you get to be renowned? I mean like,
do you have to be nowned first? Willow: Yes, first
there is the painful nowning process.

NOTE: This is one of the few aspects of Slayer-speak wich Giles uses.
EXAMPLES: "Just because the paranormal is more normal and less
para of late, that is no excuse for tardiness or
letting down your gaurd!"
"Buffy, I believe the subtext here is rapidly be coming
uh ... text."

Wig: Use this word instead of freaking, crazy, or scared. Conjucations
include wiggins, wiggy, and maxi-wig.
 
I always use "bored now", "five by five", and "morbid much?". I wanna use the die bastard one now! 🙂
 
ppl think im weird cause i actually talk like buffy and willow
i said "i am so large with not knowing" and "stalker much" and sometimes i say "obsessive much???" and my mom was like what?????

I have a sense of humor that usually only amuses me so I'm always making jokes and saying "See what I did there?"
And I have been known to scream "Bloody hell!" but not too much. Other stuff fits in with the Buffy language but just crap I always said.
 
Rayne. Remember that Willow bit in -- I can't remember what episode -- where she says something only she finds funny, then Xander and Buffy give her quizzical looks and she say's:

"I have my own fun".

Or how about when Tara says.

"That was funny if you understood about insect reflection... and are a complete dork".

Don't use that last one though, kay? It was only funny when Tara said it.
