Buffyverse stuff in non-Buffyverse places

In some episode of Psych, the main character (can you tell I rarely watch the show? haha) says something to the effect of "I tried the whole Dingoes Ate My Baby thing; it didn't work."

It also could be a reference to the Elaine quote from Seinfeld which is where Oz's band got their name from
In Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter novels, there are quite a few Buffy references. She's said before that she was a huge fan of the show, so I'm assuming that she gives it a nod here and there. Also, when I went to JemCon last year, Christy Marx, who was the head writer for Jem (and she also wrote for He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe and numerous video games) mentioned Spike in her Q&A session. It just put a big smile on my face that someone, who I see as an icon, also loves Buffy and the characters from the show!

Oh, and I believe it was 3 or 4 years ago, we did Halloween in downtown Nashville. We went to this club where they had Goth night on Sundays and Halloween was on Sunday. Anyway, as I got off the elevator to go to the second floor, these two people who were dressed as Buffy and Spike were making out in the hallway. Just thought that was kinda cool, not that I'm a perv or anything, cuz I'm so not.

In Tanya Huff's novel Long Hot Summoning (the third in the Keeper series), one of the characters brings a mall elf up to speed on what's happening on Buffy.

One of the Mayor's of the place I go university at was called Mayor Wilkins!!!
I found that out the other day, cuz there's a plaque on the wall of what I think used to be part of the original wall built around the town, which is next to the entrance of the Military Museum that my boyfriend made me go to with him!!!

The other night on the Simpsons they went to an all-you-can-eat place called Buffet the Hunger Slayer.
also, going back a few years, on Friends Phoebe's twin sister makes a porn film called "Bouffet the Vampire Layer"

whenever I hear that, I always think, Buffy IS the vampire layer - then I think - hey buff, howd the LAYING go last night....no, I dont mean that either
I recently bought the two seasons of "Dark Angel," and I have noticed a LOT of parallels between that show and "Buffy," especially in the 2nd. season. I can't picture someone of John Cameron's skill and reputation allowing anything with his name on it to hack off of another show, any more than I can Joss, but it's almost as if the two of them would sit together over drinks somewhere and work out plots together. (For those of you who never have seen the show, the similarities between Max and Buffy, Alec and Spike, and Angel and Joshua are uncanny. Max's best friend and roommate is even gay, and there are life threatening consequences if she and her boyfriend "get busy," as Joshua puts it. There's even something in Max's DNA that makes her the "one girl in all the world.")

Special, yes. Extra ordinay, yes. But hardly one of a kind. Or have I missed/forgot something? The other comparisons made me wanna watch the show again. And that else to do the whole summer if not watch tv?

Several times on the show Max is described as having DNA unlike any other, both by the government agents trying to capture/kill her, and by the CDC doctor who examined her, and she is unique in other ways, but to go into them here would constitute spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the show yet.

Ok, that settles it. I need to watch this show again.
A lot of the Buffyverse actors do voice work on the side. My husband likes cartoons, so I'll sometimes recognize folks' voices. About a month ago, I heard Adam Baldwin and James Marsters in a Superman cartoon. Baldwin played Superman and Marsters played Lex Luthor. Today, my hubby was watching a Justive League cartoon and I heard David Boreanaz. He played Hal Jordan, who was eventually turned into the Green Lantern. I'm actually freakishly good at recognizing voices. At the end, I always check the credits -- and I'm almost always right.

I know David Boreanaz did the voice of one of the characters in the first Kingdom Hearts game and James Marsters was in a couple of episodes of Smallville and TorchWood

also David Boreanaz was in the Dido music video White Flag.

I KNEW that was him -- I was playing singstar the other day and my mother didnt believe me but HA
I just read "Twilight Children" by Torey Hayden and one of the children she writes about has hallucinations focused on demons, vampires, ghosts etc. and she refers to her as being "trapped in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer" hehe. Made me smile.

EDIT: Ooh, talking of music videos. Eliza Dushku was in the music videos for "Rockstar" - Nickelback and "I'm Just a Kid" - Simple Plan. Pretty cool.

i never noticed Eliza was in that video
I love the Buffy references in Spaced. When Tim compares the character of Twist to Cordelia.

Tim: She's shallow Brian, ya know? Like Cordelia out of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and after that Angel, the spin-off series, which is set in L.A.
Brian: I don't know what you're talking about.
Tim: Brian, you're such a square!

shadowcay agrees: i never noticed Eliza was in that video

Rockstar? She's looking rather seductive and shaking her hair by a pool in a couple of shots haha. And I'm Just A Kid she's pretty obvious cause she's in it throughout.

I came across something else to do with buffy the other day. I was on one of my favourite authors, Dorothy Koomsons website and was looking at her "All About Me" and her most rewatched DVD was Buffy! I love seeing little things like that, it makes me feel a wee bit better about my obsession hehe.

Its everywhere , i see buffy and angel characters in nearly every show i watch epsecially csi only minor characters tho xxx

I read laurell K hamilton books"Anita Blake" and they remind me of Buffy Kinda xxx

I can't believe I didn't remember this earlier, it's about the best in-joke ever:

In the PC game "Sacred", when you enter a certain merchant's shop, you get attacked by bunnies (they're doing ridiculously little damage and are ridiculously easy to kill, but there's like two dozen of them all over you at once). When you kill all of them, a woman comes out of hiding, introduces herself as "Anya the Shopkeeper" and thanks you for "stopping the little critters from overrunning my place. I hate them!"

Danny Strong (Jonathon) and Julie Benz were in the movie Shriek! if you know what I did last Friday 13th.

Yesterday I was playing this quizgame, Buzz (it's German I think), with my roomies and there was this question:
'What are Buffy Summers' archnemesises' (crappy translation, sorry)
and I got sooooooo excited over that. Really, everyone was giving me crazy looks lol.

If anyone watches The Office, during the 3rd season, when Jim was working at the other branch, they were all playing Counterstrike. Karen, Jim's love interest for part of Season 3 kept killing him off and if you look carefully at her computer screen, her name is "Karen the Jim Slayer". That tickled me so much.

Ooh, I saw that!
I don't know if it counts, but yesterday when we were clubbing, there was this guy talking to us who looked exactly like Riley!
