Cangel or Bangel?

Cangel! Ship the real, true love! Tis a beautiful thing. With no real sense of doubt whatsoever.
 
this is tough. i really grew to love cangel.
but there's just something about bangel--i don't think anything could ever touch it in intensity, except for maybe spuffy (and i am a huge spuffy shipper).
 
50/50. I love both Bangel and Cangel.

Maybe I love Cangel a bit more right now, because recently I rewatched "You're Welcome" and the epidose reminded me again what a beautiful ship Cangel is.

I like all Angel ships. They're so different, and all of them are great. I love Angel/Darla - my heart breaks when she stakes herself. I love Angel/Faith dynamics in comics. {/offtopic}
 
Angel[s relationship with Buffy was more like a high school crush to me, the kind of "undying" love that lasts throughout high school, but fades away when one or both go out into the real world, whether it be to college, to a new job, into the military, or something similar. It happens all the time. On the other hand, with Cordy, Angel found someone who he gradually grew closer and closer to as they shared their work and lives together. Theirs was the kind of love that builds slowly until one day, to their mutual amazement, they realize that they are in love and want to be together always. It's the kind of relationship that could last a lifetime, which, considering Cordy's status as Higher Being, might be a long, LONG time. They might even show up to help Fray one of these days, if Joss ever gets around to writing the story.

Bangel. I don't like Cordelia and I did think it came out of nowhere a little bit.

99% of the really great loves come from there. Just ask around, and you'll see. (Not an argument, just an observation)
Neither really. But if I had to pick, it would be Cangel. It's a more grown up relationship. It did feel to me very sudden, but seeing these two becoming from being friends to close friends then to lovers, it was very real, it wasn't forced (by the characters, it was very natural). I'm not sure they're soulmates though.
 
Bangel. I was on the fence about Cangel while watching Angel, but then that whole Cordy/Angel/Connor love triangle made it really really awkward for me to see Angel and Cordy together.

Bangel of course. Love Cordelia, raise my eyebrows at Cangel. It was sweet at times but always lacked drama or believability to me. And comon, Cordy going blond all of a sudden? That was just hilarious. And yes, Connelia was the end of it. Not to mention the whole 'Buffy' thing during the imaginary lovemaking.
 
I'm a Spuffy, but I have to say Bangel here. I really like Cordelia and Angel's friendship. While at one point I may have wanted it to become more than that, now I'd rather they just stay friends. Friendship doesn't necessarily have to turn into romance. That's not to say I hate Cangel or am totally against it, I just prefer Bangel when it comes to romantic pairings. Which is weird, because I actually prefer a slow, realistic build to on screen relationships and a year ago I would have said I preferred Cangel without hesitation.

Only if you don't take into account that the Shaman would've had to use a memory of Angel's previous situation to facilitate the same experience, and thus, reaction. Or you could run with the idea that he was fantasising about Buffy, while with Cordelia, which doesn't really make any sense, because if he actually wanted Buffy, wouldn't she have been there in his perfect day fantasy anyway? It also proves that he doesn't really love either woman.

I've always took it that he was simply remembering the last time he lost his soul. As you say, if he wanted Buffy, she would have been in the fantasy. Also he only mentions Buffy once the trigger has activated; the process that led to the trigger didn't include Buffy at all.

I don't think it proves that he doesn't love either woman though.
 
Cangel, I love their relationship, to me it seemed so natural.

That feels so fanwanky though. My explanation is much more rational. I was arguing FOR Cangel, not against it.

I don't think we're contracting each other per se, I was merely arguing an explanation for the 'Buffy' line rather an ignoring it altogether
