Careers

I'm in school and majoring in Television studies and writing. I'm also minoring in theater. What I want to do is act and write for TV and eventually be a showrunner. 🙂 It'll be difficult but I really love the medium of television and I want to be a part of it.

I've only had to do 2 (just finishing my 2nd) because my course is a 3 year PGCE crammed into 9 months lol. They've both been really interesting despite being in similar areas. The two schools work quite differently so I've had to test out lots of different strategies! It's been the toughest 9 months of my life and I'm so glad to be nearly done!
 
I'm only in 10th grade...but I either want to be a graphic desginer or a child pyscologist. They're two very different jobs, but I think I'd be good at both, so I'm not sure which I want to pursue. Anyway, I still have time to decide.
 
I would like to be a translator/interpreter or work in foreign affairs or something where I can use my foreign language skills and maybe travel.
 
Got put off my welfare pension after inheriting last year, will go back on it when that money is through in, probably, a year, year-and-a-half. This one isn't gonna have a career any time soon. 😉

I have a join degree in History and English and I'm currently doing my masters in International studies.

Ideally, I think I'd like to work in foreign affairs but my government has put an embargo on recruitment so that appears to be less likely to happen. So right now I am deciding whether to go on and do a PhD in history or become a history teacher. I can't seem to make my mind up.
 
Still in high school but aiming towards being an architect. Though, I am a bit unsure of it because I hate math. But ehhh who knows what will happen
 
What I usually do and intend to get back to as soon as possible is an occupation that doesn't seem to exist in many countries. We've been told to call it leisure time teacher.

We have a teachers degree but work more with social skills, emotionell development, being outdoors and play time (the first school years) than what's usually seen as school subjects. "Just" playing teach children much more than most people can ever imagine. Many specialize in arts, music, drama or P.E. We're also working in "fritidshem", kind of day care centers for school kids. Taking care of children outside school time while parents are working. Open often between 6.00/6.30 am - 6.00 pm if necessarry on weekdays. This also apply during school breaks.


I don't want another job but it isn't paid very well and most often the work situation is much worse (not disaster though) than it should be. Schools have all these fancy documents on how it should be, so we can help and take care of children the way they deserve, but it's rarely the case. As always it comes down to money.

I was reading an article on this kind of thing a few weeks ago- the English translation seems to be "social pedagogue".
After working in various office jobs such as administration as reception I got myself a job as a travel agent for the biggest travel company in Australia and most of the time I absolutely love it. I'll tell you right now though, it's the hardest and most stressful job in the world, and the hours are terrible. We earn minimum wage and then commission so sometimes to pay the bills it means working through till 9pm all week long and then putting in the hours over the weekend as well.

I don't want to spend the rest of my life as a travel agent, but there is so much to learn in this job that I don't know how long it will be before I am ready to move on to the next step, or if I will get fired before I quit.

Because of my issues with self restraint and motivation I have called in sick a few to many times, so now I'm worried that my job will be gone on Monday. Maybe time for something different?
 
I work in accounting for a major hotel corporation, but it is in no way my career. More like what i'm doing until I find something better. My ideal job would be either: college professor teaching NAS/english lit/anthropology, working with one of the nearby tribes to improve their people's state in some way (real specific I know), or the one that scares me the most: tribal politics. We shall see. I'm leaning towards the first.

It's good to be specific, though. I know I'll need a specific research focus when pursuing my chosen career.

You know if you changed the specifics to teaching late 19th century/early 20th century Irish history in college, working with Irish/Northern Irish Cross boarder initiatives and working in Irish politics...our ideals are pretty much the same. And the politics scares me the most too. 😛
 
My job is currently McDonald's, but I'm studying to eventually (hopefully) become a marine biologist. I only have one more year until I earn my B.S. in Biology, so the first step is almost done. After that, I would like to go to grad school for my M.S., then work either for a university or for the government.
 
Right now I am working as a full-time nanny and a part-time administrative assistant, both of which are jobs I hope I don't have for too much longer. I got a degree in International Relations and hope to work in politics; specifically foreign policy and/or post-conflict reconstruction. I'm planning on moving to Washington DC in the (hopefully) not to distant future, way more career opportunities there.

Me: I'm a speech-language pathologist. I work in the public schools, have for 17 years, although I have done some home health & nursing home work & private therapy but it's been quite awhile. During the summer I'm full-time mom.

Sometimes I think I'd like to train to become a doula (labor support professional) but it's not a steady gig & obviously the hours are unpredictable.

LOL at doulas having unpredictable hours!
I'm studying Film & TV at the moment, so hopefully I'll be able to end up in a job doing something in either of those fields. That's the dream anyway. Next year we get to pick what aspect of the media practice module we want to focus on (like editing, lighting, directing, research etc) and I think I'm gonna go for editing. Directing would be fab, but I don't think I'm cut out for it 😛

Currently I have no job while I'm studying, but I really need one :/
 
High School students.. Senior Year (yay!), which means that I graduate next month.
So in September I'm gonna study PR Agency and International Management with Spanish and English..
 
I work for Riding for the Disabled teaching disabled people to ride horses.

I keep changing my mind about what else I might want to do long term, RDA is not enough to get by on alone. I've thought about doing Auslan to work with hearing impaired people or working with the elderly or nursing. For the moment I barely handle the work I do have on so any other jobs/training will be a fair way off.
