Working with kids make you mature? Man, I´m doing something wrong. ;) It does however gives you a new perspective.
I fell in love. 🙂
Seriously. And I'm dying without her right now - we work in different countries and it's aaaaargh. 🙁

My girlfried & mom died, that were big changes to my life.
Going to new school is another.
Being mentaly sick has opened new ways of thinking for me, so it change.
Getting loads of money is small change, and talking to Kinlsayer is quite big change for me, it has changed me quite much as person.

I'm sorry to head bout your mum and girlfriend
I packed up my life and am in the middle of an year-ish abroad. I say yearish because I don't know how long exactly just yet....I know they'll kick me out in 18 months though 😉

Well I moved to Belgium all by myself. And started college more or less. Which also led to a pretty different lifestyle for me. Other than that, I can't really think of anything.

moving to belgium is one of best changes i read ;)
I've gotten more involved with Riding for the Disabled, I have always been patient with animals but not so much with people and I think RDA has really changed that and helped me be more patient with kids and parents (ok I'm still working on the parents bit 😛) Hopefully as of next week I can start my next coaching level.

I've taken myself off all medication and not yet had any major bad problems - a few setbacks but I have been handling it on my own and that is so freeing somehow.

Hmm hair changes... well I am in desperate need for a haircut but haven't had the money. A few months ago my mate decided to chop it when I was drunk so it is all weird 😛 I'm thinking of maybe dying it again if I have the money - that is always a shock for the first few days!

no meds is huge, congrats!
Oh, lord. This is interesting timing because in my mad cleaning-the-apartment spree yesterday, I came across my journal from my (first) freshman year of college (1998). Let's just say I have matured a lot since then. I'm also a lot more self-reliant.

I start teaching at the end of August, and I expect that to have an impact on my personality and outlook on life, too. We'll see how that goes.

You might hang on to that journal. It would work as a reminder of the maturity level of your soon-to-be students! ;)
Well, at my age, the most constant thing in my life is change. The biggest lately is that I'm just about to take one of the biggest steps of my life lately and officially retire from my job of almost 40 years. Hopefully, my wife and I will get to do some of the traveling we've always wanted to but never could.

Congratulations! That's huge!
I'm going to college in a little less than a month now. That's going to be a HUGE change for me.

Also, the hair needs to be cut, but I have an appointment for just before I leave. Not gonna cut too much off. Did that once... vowed neer to do it again. It was actually all my mom's fault.

Me to I'm going to college. And I think that's definitly a big change ;)
I haven't had a super change yet, but I'm sure graduating in the spring will offer up a LOT of change. I guess the biggest change would be finally getting my license last year, and being able to go when and where I want to.

I think the biggest change for me was either settling down with a long-term boyfriend or deciding upon my occupation. I graduated from university in 2004 and came out still having absolutely no idea about what I wanted to do as a job. I spent a year living back at home and got a job working in a garden centre but although I was working it didn't really "change" me as I still continued living the uni life, going out with friends nearly every night and not taking my job particularly seriously, causing me to leave after 11 months.

So the first big change for me was my boyfriend, who I'm still with now and hope to still be with in many many years to come. It was while I was still in uni that I met him, he was 5 years older than me and had a great job working as a software developer, and he wanted to go out with ME. I was thinking..this guy, with a decent job, earning a good wage wants to go out with ME? Some slacker working in a garden centre? lol. So yes, that changed me, not immediately, but it did because eventually after 2 years of on and off dating with me, he told me I needed to get my act together, which I did because I was and still am in love with him.

That was the change that led to other changes though, because I wanted to please him, and him to be with me I wanted to settle down and get a permenant job and eventually last year I decided upon that job and enrolled on a course to become a teacher, which I recently completed.

I think this last year was when I changed most, having a serious job made myself become a lot more independant and also a lot happier.

I know I have a lot more changes yet to come though, for one myself and my boyfriend have just moved into our own house, though we haven't stayed there just yet as we went on holiday (which we're still on) the week after buying lol. So next week will be my first week living in my own house and having to do...own housey things! Big change there. And also, another huge change for me is that come November, there'll be a little addition to our new household which I'm petrified, yet excited about. I know I'm going to have to change a lot.

Ah, sorry for the essay there and sorry if it doesn't make much sense! I get carried away and babble sometimes haha.

Teacher karma all year round! I just needed to put it somewhere.
My body changed and rebelled against me and I had a miscarriage in June. It hasn't stopped rebelling yet, but I'm working on it.

I'm so sorry to hear what you went through
changes....changes.....

Well I moved quite a few times....I've always lived in Canada but moved provinces and cities. school changes...new friends...
junior high was a huge change for me. and not in a good way either really.

Well, to be honest, not much has changed throughout my life, aside from my body (I sprouted early and quickly, ha). I've always lived in the same house and gone to the same school. But I do make new friends every year, if that counts for anything! But the only changes that have dramatically affected my personality are when my pet duck died (loooong story) and when I got a dog. Of course, I've changed a lot naturally in the past few years just because I'm gettin' older.

But right now, I'm about to have a million changes sprung on me - I'm moving on Thursday, and I'm going to a brand new school this year where I won't know anybody. I'm so happy about both; I hate my current house and school. But I'm a little bit nervous, too. It's scary and exciting at the same time!

Change happens every day, every second, but it is so small, so gradual, that we barely notice it. Because of this some people think that they never change, but they do. The best way to see how you've changed, is to take a major decision you've made, and figure out how you would have made it five years ago, or go the extra thought process and figure out how you would make it ten years in the future.

I believe this act, might be something Spike was referring to when he was talking about self analyzing wankers.

Big events in your life very rarely change you, certainly the change isn't instant. It is usually something gradual, or it has been for me. Losing your virginity, leaving high school, getting your first steady girlfriend, going to university, getting your first job, first home on your own. With big events like these it is not a snap, and you're suddenly completely different. These events might affect you, but it is a gradual thing, it is in reflection.

Change with me, lots of times, is through another person.

Recently two of my friends died, within two weeks of each other. Both deaths have a certain mystery to them, primary due to their respective families not fully revealing details. I think one killed themself and one died accidently, either through being a plonker and accidently overdosing, or if you listen to his family he had an asthma attack.. and misplaced his inhaler..

As a result I've "shut up shop", put my life on hold, or fullstop and have decided to get plastered every day for the past two weeks. A diet of whiskey and cigars( well I've always been a fan of that King Edward) and the occasional vodka thrown in to shake things up.

This though, isn't change, its not who I bleeding well am, but its just a tempory thing. And the two people that have died, that won't channge me either. No sir.

What it has done though, is stirred up a memory of an event that did change me. One of the very few times where change isn't slow, it is immediate and in the same token, it is constant. Because for me, this was the first biggie.

A long time ago, lots of years in my life anyway. There was this girl, she was about 13, 14, in that age bracket. Always smiling, always seemed happy. She had a crush on a boy in her year, he didn't know though. Anyway, she had this older sister, posh little tart of sorts. She had these mannerisms, and a way of speaking (speaking proper bleedin' english) that made you think that her family had money, that she had this posh upbringing. Really she was as common as the rest of her family.

Anyway, this "posh" little tart and her boyfriend convinced the little girl to tell the boy how she felt. And she did. And the ****ing asshole teased the hell out of her. She told him that morning in school, and for the rest of the day, in every single class he mocked her.

That night, she decided to kill herself. She went in to the family medicine cabinet and took as many pills she could, 100, 200 pills of different sorts, god knows what. Then she took a bottle of vodka and left the house. It was either a bottle, or a litre of Vodka. She took it to a little clearing in some woods not far from her house, and downed the thing as quickly as she could.

I assume by this time her head was absolutely mangled. She was still alive though, after taking all those pills, and drinking the vodka she was alive staggering through the streets.

By the way, you ever want to kill yourself, come read this post. If this doesn't make you want to take the fastest ride out of here, nothing will.

By this time her family started to realise something was up. Mothers bottle of voddie was missing, the medicine cabinet had been raided and there was lots of empty packets in the bin.

The girl had been staggering around streets for about two hours. She started to get a little more sober, and she realised the pills hadn't worked. So she jumped in front of a car.

The car was going between 30/40 miles per hour. She got knocked into the air so far, the person driving the car had no chance to see her, or brake. He got out and ran over to her. As she got up. He tried to help her, but once she steadied herself she ran away.

He was shaken up, and the girl ran off into the next street. 3rd time is usually the charm. In the next street she did it again. Jumped right in front of a car. The 'person' driving hit straight into her. They were going faster than the other car. The car flicked her into the air.

Some people saw it happen, they ran over to the girl, as the car sped off. She tried to stand up and they helped her to her feet. At this point she realised where she was. Her house was literally two minutes away. A brisk two minute run.

By now she had cuts and sctraches all over her. Blood dripping down from both her knees. Her clothes were torn. She ran away. The boy and girl that helped her up chased after her. They knew something was horrifically wrong.

The girl ran, she ran passed the clearing where she had downed and discarded the bottle of vodka. The boy, and the girl, chased after her as she ran to some steps, and up them. I don't know how they couldn't catch her. Grab her. The condition she was in at this point. As she ran onto the platform.

It just happened to be her, lucky night. A train came, speeding along, as she ran across the platform. The train was stopping at this backwater platform for nobody. No soul. The boy and girl got up onto the platform as she jumped off onto the tracks, without pause, she ran to the edge and jumped straight down. A train, the speed it was going at. No more fun and games, no more popping pills and jumping into cars.

4 times she tried, the fourth and final time doesn't need description. Details of how a young girl was ripped and crushed into pieces.

Changes you've gone through? You should never want to change, because when you do change, and you know it, it is usually instant. And constant.

I go thru major changes about every 2-3 years. Sometimes they're physical changes, sometimes mental or emotional, and a couple of big-time spiritual changes.

My ideas change... the way I perceive things, the way I view things.

My political notions change like the tides! - my way of doing things changes, the way I think, the way I dress, the way I work.... CHANGE is the only constant in life. Therefore, I don't know how to take those people who NEVER change. I have a friend like that... for instance, she has worn her hair the same way since 1983.... but THIS YEAR, she changed the COLOR. I nearly fainted - ha!

Right now, the most change I'm going thru is physical. I had some serious health problems the past couple of years which have prevented me from exercising, which I love to do! - and have gained weight due to that. I hate the way I physically feel - I miss having "so much energy" & able to just breeze thru the day. Now it's a struggle to just get out of bed in the morning - & I mean that literally, due to so much joint & muscle pain.

Before the big "physical" deal, I went thru a very emotional change, & before that, a very spiritual change.

Yup, change is constant. Thank the goddesses! Because I get bored rather easily.
