Character you're most like?

Had the idea when I answered the Favorite Season for Xander thread.

Part of what makes fiction so great is being able to really relate to the characters. 🙂 From either show, which character do you relate to the most, or who are you most like? Do you see yourself in any of the characters, if any at all??

Just gonna repost my answer from the other thread:

Xander, while he is not my favorite character, holds a special place in my heart because he's..well he's basically me. I relate to Xander more than any other fictional character really, so I can't not love him. I'm the sidekick; not a badass or a brain, just me. And it's nice to see it on TV!

I'm the friend in the group that doesn't have any special talents (or I'm sure I would be the everyman in a fantasy Buffyverse too), I'm just me. In high school I was the dork who told stupid jokes (my best friends thought I was funny, but pretty sure most people didn't even know my name). I wasn't into schoolwork but I wasn't a delinquent or anything. I watched my friends get accepted into good schools and go to college, while I went into the working world and lived in my parents' basement (okay, so there's no past tense there; I'm still in this basement part of my life 😛 ). Failed road trips, failed relationships, stupid jokes, parent's basement, I have it all. I keep my friends laughing and I'm there for them whenever they need; I am Xander Harris. Y'know, if he was a girl.

There's a lot of things Xander says and does where I'm like, "Wow, what the hell Xander?!" and I want to not like him, I do. But I realize that it's me. I would trash talk Angel and Spike all the time too, even though it's immature. I see myself doing that. (I've fallen for a best friend too; and you can bet I had negative opinions of the losers he picked instead of me). The only thing I CANNOT see is the whole, "leaving my spouse-to-be at the wedding" thing, because I really would like to think that I would never ever do that haha.

"I don't handle rejection well. Funny, considering all the practice I've had, huh?"
"I saved the world with talking, from my mouth. My mouth saved the world"
"I'm not gonna waste the perfect comeback on you now. But don't think I don't have it. Oh yes, it's time will come!"

^These are all things I can literally hear myself saying. 😛

Through the good and the bad I'm definitely most like Xander. What say you guys? What characters (if any) is your personality most like?

Kinda Gay
Kinda Gay
Because you have a banner that made me giggle.
In the first stage of my life I was definitely Connor, or at least I was Connor according to my own personal perception of the character. I was pissed off with the whole world and I had a very good reasons to be angry. But now maybe I'm more like Angel and/or Faith... maybe!

Definitely Clem. The guy who lives in an unclaimed crypt. The guy surrounded by junk food. The guy who is sociable with Dawn and others, but he manages to scare the potentials for a laugh. But he is quite happy to be left on his own as well. And like me, James Charles Leary, the actor who played him, is an engineer.

But I don't play poker for kittens.

I'm a mishmash of a lot of characters. Perhaps those I identify the most with are Buffy, Willow, Tara and Faith.

Willow: I'm a pretty big nerd, she reminds of me in highschool. We both had no clue about fashion and, I had my little group of friends, but I wasn't really popular (which I never sought to be). Oh, and I also liked my best guy friend, and then ended up dating girls.

Buffy: the way Buffy feels is the closest to the way I feel. Action wise, I'm not that much like Buffy, but the whole feeling alone, and feeling different, all that fun jazz that people call the Martyr complex, I have a little of that. I'm overprotective of my friends and family, but I often feel alone, or standoff-ish.

Faith: I've said that before, but Faith is the "what could have been". Sometimes I have a bit of a wild streak. I used to be an angry person, with the f the world attitude. Still got those days, but overall I look at Faith and I go "ya, anyone could become like that under the right circumstance". But Faith is way sexier than I could ever be 😛

Tara: Just the whole shy attitude, the not really fitting in thing, the way she takes care of Willow. In a relationship I'm pretty much like Tara. As fiery as I get when I have to defend something I believe in (where the Faith comes in), I become a total shy mush ball when I'm dating.

What is a "shy mush ball"?
Well... the quiz said Dru, so I guess I have to stick with it. Maybe Merl. Maybe Malcolm. I dont really self identify with any really.

When I was younger, I was 3/4 Tara and 1/4 Willow-Buffy-Dawn concoction. Now I'm more like 2/4 Tara, 1/4 Willow, and 1/4 Buffy. Certainly a lot more confident, but still partially nerdy and shy. 🙂 Also totally dropped the whole angsty teen thing. I think.

Probably Wesley.
But not quite nerdtastic Welsey of BTVS s3 and not quite bad ass Welsey of Ats s4.
More like middle ground Wesley, around Ats season 2 to early season 3.

Mix into that Cordelia's lack of filter.

What subject? Advanced bosoms?
I don't feel that I'm really that much like any of the characters. There are bits and pieces of a number of characters that I can identify with. But I guess I would say I'm most like Cordelia. That might be part of why she is my favourite. I can be blunt and highly sarcastic sometimes. And I am pretty damn shallow when it comes to fashion, "I would kill to live in LA! That close to that many shoes!?" definitely sounds like something I would say 😉

Probably a mixture of Xander (I can be a wise-ass jerk but also emotionally sensitive- sometimes), Tara (I'm shy around new people/situations) and 'reformed' Faith because I'm completely non-judgemental when it comes to other people screwing up. I've been there first and have come back from the brink.

I guess that all these characters have massive self-esteem issues and have low opinions of themselves even though their far stronger than they realise. They keep on trying even if others doubt their abilities.
I like to think I have those qualities, I can be pretty hard on myself, far more than I am on others.

I don't think I resemble any if the characters too much. Angel probably most of all, for reasons like he kept to himself a lot on Buffy S1 -3 (I like my alone time and maintain some distance between myself and everyone else; I'm not antisocial though, I have a healthy social life, so that part of me is different than Angel), he read the types of things I like to read, he has a dark past and he is trying to redeem himself (I used to feel the same way, but I never did anything criminal or anything, it's hard to explain and a little personal) and Angel is romantically inclined...Angel would be the closest character to me on the show, although we're not that close on the other hand either. Also the watchers Wes and Giles, insofar as I enjoy doing research on academic types of topics and I am good at it. I think, minus the accent, I do sound somewhat like Wes and Giles do too when I speak, with a dry and sometimes deadpan/straight faced style of humor, with (what used to be) a slight affected "intellectual" tone vaguely similar to early Wes on Buffy that over many years has become natural sounding and far less affected, and my style of wit also possesses some features in common with the two watchers as well. I'm well spoken too. I also smile seldomly, and that reminds me a lot of Giles and late Wes too.

I share a lot in common with Tara in the sense that I am very empathetic, difficult to make angry or upset, and very polite and nice to everyone. But I am also kind of hard on myself, for example I run and lift often but I'll fairly regularly go a few days eating next to nothing just to be hard on myself and develop discipline and willpower, just like religious ascetics can be hard on themselves. I enjoy it in a weird way, and there are many examples of it in my life. And I am so much better at things when I get inspired, like popeye eating spinach. Maybe this is kind of like Buffy (?) a little bit?

Willow, because I am a nerd, and a little bit of Cordy mixed in because I have a huge heart.

@Fuffy Baith
Shy mush ball? lol

Well...I just totally realized that this is a local figure of speech. In my head everyone knew what a mush ball was. You know, as in you become all gooey on the inside. I'm just digging a whole am I?

There's not one character that I'm like. when I take the test I always get Willow though. I can be nerdy sometimes, and shy and self conscience. I'm also a bit like Oz, I can be very stoic and quiet, but insightful at times. And then I can be a complete goofball and not take things serious like Xander. I wish that I was more like Buffy, and when I was young I wanted to be like Faith, cause I thought she was so cool, hot and bad ass. Which at the time was not me. lol.

Lol. Oh okay, gotcha. Aw you're a secretly a sweetheart. That's cute. No you can keep digging your hole. I don't mind 😉 lol

hopeless romantic, guilty as charged
Big shocker, but I am totally Cordy for my blunt, at times bitchy honesty, self-respect and because I tend to speak my mind even at times inappropriately though I am working on that.
At the same time however, another of my most defining traits is shared with Angel; I'm a hopeless romantic (and a huge sucker for cheesy mush).

Which is why your current username suits you better than TwistedAngelus :P
I'm like Giles. I was a Montessori teacher - grades 4-6 in one room. I have a lot of former students who have graduated from college and who still maintain contact with me. One just came here from Japan for a day, and called me to get together (that was so great!!). I like people who are younger than I am, and I like them as real people regardless of age. I've also got some of Tara in me - the motherly qualities. I'm not shy - I can stand on a stage and talk - but I am a serious introvert. Time away from everyone is time to recharge. I think Tara is the only introvert.

I don't really see myself being particularly similar to any one character. I can identify with different qualities or interest from lots of them. Academically I'm a lot like Oz. I'm no genius and I'm not being head hunted by secret government agencies but my ability always out stripped my effort and interest. For the most part I'm quite laid back like Oz as well, I try not to get wound up about things that just don't matter that much.

I have similar interests to Spike. Punk music, Manchester United (not the happy meals on legs bit). I think I have the same sense of just wanting to get stuck in and have a blast and enjoy myself. I'd be out pretty much every night at gigs, playing sport, getting drunk with my mates if I could.

I can be similar to Buffy in that I have close friends I've known for years and consider them more like family. I don't exactly save lives but if someone needs me, I'll do my best to help out. Stranded somewhere I'll come and get you. Something bad has happened, I'll be on the phone late night even if I should be sleeping for work the next day.

There's probably loads of other little bits and pieces, Xander's geek qualities certainly and Tara's awkwardness around new people. I think that's what makes the show great, so many fleshed out characters.

Although... if you had been head-hunted by secret government agencies... could you tell us?
I smell a secret government-spy amongst us 😉

Oh, crap - now he has to...what was that flash of light?
hmmm tough question....

Faith, Dru and Angel.... I can be wild and unpredictable sometimes, with a strong hint of madness and mental distraction, and I can brood over something forever and have to rely on my friends to make a positive decision but love helping others.

Tara, even though I'm not as shy as I used to be. But I always used to feel a bit like the outsider in friendship groups even though it was all in my own head.

I'm pretty much a mash of most of the characters.
Tara: I used to be very shy!
Willow: I wasn't the fashion queen, neither was I popular.
Faith: I've had my wild side moments.
Cordelia: Later on in highschool I became very much like Cordy, blunt and spoke whatever came to my mind😀
