Characters you'd love no matter WHAT they've done?

No surprise, Anya. (I could go into various explanations regarding her actions, but to be honest, I like her anyway.)

Buffy for me too. I love what you say about her here. What I love about her too is how flawed she is, but is always trying to be better. She's a real hero and a truly unique character.

Faith is probobly one of the best characters in the show, honestly. She has such a strong personality and as you say, even when she's not dark, there is very much still so much sass and heart to her.

I'll also add Anne Steele. She's just a really great character, and has undergone so much development. I would love a comic that explores her life more and her work with the homeless youth shelter.

Lastly, Spike. He's my boy. One of my favorite characters ever. Like Buffy, he is supremely flawed and has made some bad choices but in the end, he's funny and brave and loves deeply with his whole heart. And he kicks ass. And him and Buffy are perfect partners lovers and friends. I just love him.

Two characters that I’ll add to my list of characters I’ll defend are Rhaenyra Targaryen and Sansa Stark.
 
I'm not sure I understand the question. How could I love a character no matter what they've done? Does that mean I'd have to bite the bullet and be ok with my favorite characters committing cold-blood murder among other gruesome actions? Yea, no.

Basically a character you will have always a tendency to defend, find excuses or acceptable reasons to every bad behavior he can have. A character you will always understand his point of view and have more facility to forgive him. That’s what the thread is about in my opinion.

Well, when it comes to fictional stories, I can love a character as in I think they are incredibly complex and fun to watch, but it does not mean that I condone their actions. This is why a lot of villains can be quite entertaining, and you can say you "love" them, but it doesn't mean you love them as human beings. For example, in the Buffyverse, quite a few of the villains are great, but morally they are all reprehensible.

I suppose this thread was about characters such as those, where you can still enjoy their presence on the screen despite some of the awful actions they choose to commit. Because if it was about actual good people like Buffy, Giles, Lorne, etc., I would not claim to love them no matter what they'd do, because if they started doing terrible things I would reconsider my love and respect for them.

To put it clearly, you can "love" fictional characters for different reasons. But if the question is if there's someone I'd always root for no matter what they did, then of course not. It would be the same thing in real life. I'm not going to be blindly loyal to anyone just for the sake of it. There are limits that can be crossed.

Just think about it as a character you will be more tolerable to, a character you will defend easily than another, someone you will have facility to understand put yourself in shoes and be more sympathetic. That’s how I understand the question of this thread.

Me, for example, I admit it’s Angel.

Then, I'd pick Buffy, as far as the Buffyverse is concerned. I do also tend to defend characters like Riley, Dawn, and Xander because they get a ton of hate and I think it is often undeserved.

For other shows, hummmm! I think Jesse from Breaking Bad is a good one.
 
Sometimes you can like a character - rather than a person - even admitting they have done horrible things and not defending them.

For me, that would be Willow. She did some awful things, mostly in season six, and if I was Tara, I do not know if I could forgive her. I am not including skinning Warren in the horrible things, even though I suspect it was intended to show Willow crossing a line, because by that point he was such an awful person it was nearly impossible to feel sympathy for someone who demonstrated just why people summoned vengeance demons like Anyanka.

Despite what she has done, and I certainly do not defend her S6 treatment of Tara, I still like her.
