Cheating

I don't think I would ever put up with someone cheating. I wouldn't forget and I don't think I could forgive. I think cheating is like the worst thing you could do in a relationship, you're sharing something that is supposed to be private and passionate that is only between you two. Even if drugs or alcohol was the excuse, there is still a sense of consciousness that made you do it. Maybe they shouldn't have gotten drunk if they can't handle it?

I don't think I could ever be with someone, and have a deep and loving relationship, but still remember how they kissed someone else with those lips, or shared bodies with someone else, all the while I was still with them. How would I know for sure that they wouldn't do it again? Once that trust has broken, I don't think it could ever be gained back. It'd be like there was a big, fat elephant in the room all the time.

Well put
When I was younger, I always thought that I would definitely dump any SO who cheated, partly out of pride, partly to preserve my dignity, and partly because I felt like I wouldn't be able to ever truly forgive them. The trust would be lost.

I have never cheated or been cheated on, but I guess now I see certain types of cheating differently. If it was a one time thing and was purely physical, I might be able to forgive someone for cheating.

Before I was married, I always thought that if any boyfriend cheated on me, I would end the relationship on the spot. Now that I've been with my husband for nine years, married for almost five of them, I honestly can't say I would just walk away from that.

Cheating is usually more complex than people make it out to be: it's not usually about the sex. It's about intimacy and emotional needs that the person's relationship isn't giving them. My thoughts are that if someone cheats, there is probably something going on in their relationship that needs to be addressed. That problem might be able to be fixed and it might not. I would never be able to just give up my life as it is right now; we have built a whole life together. We have three kids, animals, a house. I would fight to the ends of the earth to keep my marriage together. I think divorce is used as a solution all too easily these days (though it is obviously sometimes the best thing), so I believe I would try everything I could to keep my marriage in tact and have a healthier, more loving relationship.
